I have what I believe is almost exactly the same, proofed in Ulm, Germany in 1963. I am looking for advice as to how to lighten the trigger pull without causing harm. No workshop manuals on line. Wonderful gun. I was on the point of selling last year.
Hi from Australia. The rifle was a ISU/Olympic "standard" rifle. The rifles were for womens 3 position shooting. Also popular with juniors and club shooting due to lighter weight than Free Rifles which at the time could be 15 lbs or more. The 73 is likely a year of manufacture. Walther were never as popular as Anschutz and at least here in Aust. had a bad rep for being harder to source parts for. You rated it very well in my opinion. A very very good rifle , but rarely were they supurb.
A couple of months ago, I saw a Walther very similar to this for sale at a local gunshow. I didn't pay much attention to it as they were asking $1000.00 US for it, which I felt was very high. Thanks for sharing, Rat
In Canada it was Sporting Rifle. Many clubs shot it through the Shooting Federation of Canada. Aperture sights. A common rifle used here was the model 190 Anschutz made by C.I.L. It was an introductory sport to Olympic Match rifle shooting.
No, what you are talking about is the Walther KKJ-T. The rifle featured in this video is a ''Standard'' rifle, not a Canadian ''Sporting'' class rifle.
I like your rating idea - it's what convinced me to Subscribe! I am starting to look into getting a match-grade 22 for casual target shooting so rating various rifles like this is very informative.
I'd say that a 7.3 is a tad harsh. If it was mag fed, then I'd rate higher. That would allow for any timed LR matches also. That is the only draw back I see. The stock seems more modern than the 70s. The almost 90° grip and the "stippling" texture on the grip is something rather new, in my opinion, at least in this century. I'd say that it's a dandy for a BR shooter, especially for the ability to accurately eat the different ammos.
The stock on that rifle looks very similar to my Anschutz model 1407, which I bought used in 1980. I don't know exactly when it was made, but sometime in the 70s. In my experience as a small bore, three, and four position competitor, the stippling and vertical grip were common then on European rifles.
Kinda looks a bit like my Kimber 82 GOVT .22lr which is within the top 3 best shooting rifles I own far as being able to hold tightest groups consistently....
I dare say that thing could probably shoot pretty close to the same as the DPG gun obviously with tested ammo and such.. really enjoy the content !!! One last thing have you run that super long range over a chronograph? Interested to see what the numbers are on it.. I’ve been shooting a couple different lots of the long range with pretty decent results also the polar biathlon to
Do you know what Dovetail to Piccatinny rail that is on the rifle? I have a similar Walther i.e. KKM and love mine. As you say the trigger is very good. Only issue is that Walther used a different dovetail and UIT rail than everyone else it seems. The dovetail has a round top and different size than the standard I think, The same with the UIT rail, none of my bipods fit. I think it is narrower than standard.
@@meintjiesj not sure what it was. I couldn't find anything in my collection that would fit. The bag worked good though, I borrowed that front bag and I liked it so much I bought one for myself.

@@Steve-zp7xn thanks for the info the owner will be happy to hear this.
It is a Walther UIT match rifle.
I bet Nibs @Walnut&Steel knows something about it. He's got something similar!❤❤❤

Looks like a fine day for shooting on a beautiful range with a nice vintage precision rifle!
Thanks for this post!

Thanks Elijah!
Mimicks an Anschutz 64 in a lot of ways IMO, pretty rifle
that stock looks exactly like my Walther LGR air rifle

@@shortmort3192 yes on the whole I rated it low, but I'm only taking accuracy into account.

Nice rifle and I bet you can find ammo that it shoots considerably better.

Very interesting Looks Very similar to my CZ 457 Varmint MTR stock.🧐🤯
Decent groups.
That rifle is Gorgeous!!! Let me know if you get ready to part with it :)

I had one. It is a KKM. Google is your friend.

@@graywolfnative1679 unfortunatly it does not.
BTW love the rifle!
Good short test. Want to try a CZ 457 LRP sometime?
@@kenbell8752 yes maybe even an anshutz
@thegunslinger4570 you can try both. Remember though the Anschutz is set up for left hand only. The CZ is right handed.

Yeah that is 100% a Kimber 82 bench rifle stock!
