    20:21 On the contrary, I think the Kessler character is the manifestation of the tumor's sentience.

      I love this theory, and it definitely would fit perfectly into what we were discussing. I can't wait to see where this season goes with it.

      It might be a symbiotic relationship, like Venom.
      However, it's worth noting how Kessler talks. He sounds like Butcher. His choice of curse words are all Butcher.
      If the tumor is sentient, it's a kind of "borrowed sentience". Or perhaps it starts by using Billy's already existing neural pathways, to build a self, but it's all Butcher's pathologies, so that if & when the tumor becomes independent, it's just the worst - physically and mentally.

    The phrase you were looking for is pretty close to what you said - “Breaking generational trauma” or “breaking the cycle of generational trauma”.
    Sometimes people also use “healing” instead of “breaking”. This type of phrasing has become popular in recent years so I immediately realized what you meant.
    Otherwise, another commenter mentioned Kessler. Something was odd about how disconnected Kessler’s interactions were, but it was only till another TH-camr mentioned that Kessler probably never survived the story about Butcher saving him, that it clicked he’s probably a figment.
    But then, we already have another dead person talking to Butcher too - Becca. So it’s almost like that trope of having an angel on one shoulder and a demon on another, both whispering to you to feed your better or worse impulses.
    I do think both of these voices are caused by the tumor but wouldn’t it be strange if only one of them represents the tumor? It’s odd, it’s almost like there’s a battle for butcher’s soul (metaphorically) going on inside and that’s not decided yet. I wonder if this symbiote hasn’t fully formed its identity yet or it ends up being a reflection of Butcher’s cumulative choices.
    Or maybe the symbiote is just Kessler and Becca is Butcher’s conscience trying to pull him back. I’m certainly interested in where it leads though.
    Edit: Oh I see you got to the same idea by the end of the video! My bad, I only had a few mins left and thought we were past that.
    Glad to see others talking about that possibility! Just wondering if it connects with the tumor now.

      Dude, I just saw this comment after already posting my own - and we are simpatico. I definitely think it's a "battle for Butcher's soul" scenario:) We're going to see a fight between Becca and Kessler.

      @mattgilbert7347 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      Have you noticed how Kessler's language (especially his insults and curse words) sound like Butcher? Becca *sort* of sounds like him too, but he had more time with her (I assume) so his memories of her are, I think, more "her". He remembers her "voice" so when he imagines her, it's more authentic - but it's *still Butcher*

    • @AllyrionWW
      @AllyrionWW 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mattgilbert7347 Yes completely agree. I’m inclined to believe they are both reflections of himself in separate personas. And yea, Becca would be more authentic since he was so close to her.
      The interesting question remains how it relates to the v-infused tumor. Because I would think both of these are byproducts of his brain tumor. I see in your comment that you mention maybe Kessler represents the tumor while Becca is the healthy part of his brain. It’s a good theory.

      @mattgilbert7347 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@AllyrionWW I'm not wedded to it tho. I suspect they are both connected to the tumor, but it could go either way.
      In the animated series "Diabolical" the episode "John & Sun-Hee" has a SPOILER (I won't say). Have you seen it? I can't say....

    • @AllyrionWW

      @@mattgilbert7347 I know what happens. I got it spoiled through a TH-cam video, but I have to watch it myself to see the details.
      From what I know, it does support what we’re both talking about with regards to the V and the tumor at least.

    I found this interesting. Small suggestion; add in screencaps from scenes you're discussing or when you mention another IP, maybe drop the poster in, like when you mentioned Fight Club. Just a thought since your wide shot has space in the center for a reference.

    I suspect we'll see Kessler and Becca have a scene together, the two sides of Butcher (or, if you prefer, his tumor vs healthy brain tissue) literally fighting it out for his soul.
    We *DO* have source material for the V'd-up cancer. It's the episode of the animated series "Diabolical" titled "John & Sun-Hee"
    It's not in the comics, this is correct, but I'd check out that episode of "Diabolical".

    I was saying the same thing. Homelander is trying to be a good dad. He's doing all the right things. But he's twisted, so the lessons are wrong. I think the tumor is communicating with butcher. I think thats becca. I think joe is a creation of butchers own mind. Thats why becca is trying to keep him alive, and joe is trying to put him in danger.

      My understanding is that 5 is scheduled to be the series finale.
      However, that was also the plan for Kripke's other major work for TV, "Supernatural".
