Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down The Boys.-Episode 5 is now here and throughout this video we're gonna explain it all. This recap will contain all the easter eggs, hidden details and callbacks to the comics that you might have missed. If you enjoy it please hit the thumbs up and make sure you subscribe for our videos every week. We're also doing in-depth breakdowns on House Of The Dragon and covering all the nerdy stuff that you need to know. With that out the way, thank you for clicking this now let's get into The Boys Episode 5.-Now we open with the V52 Expo which gives us a quick history of Vought projects through the decades. Initially we begin with homelanders back before then seguing into the montage. We begin with the logo for Vought American which is a little nod to the comics. Originally the company was called Vought America Corporation which was shorted down to VAC. During issue 19 we learned about the history directly from the legend. VAC sold planes and weapons to the army but in their production they had to cut corners.

The "Native American" in the original commercial was guess what...*drumroll* a white guy
I mean, he was Italian, which according to the census is white, but Arabic is also classified as white.
But he wasn’t a native American for damn sure.
No way. Ah well, that’s the vid ruined. Thank you for the trivia. Every days a school day.
@@heavyspoilers it actually kinda helps the video, considering it just nails home the point The Boys were making. Good video, bruv.
Me and The Deep should have a stupid off
@@heavyspoilers man, that video crushed a lot of American souls when the truth came out.. DECADES later.
“It’s the most expensive show ever, so it has to be good” was 100% meant for Rings of Power.
Really a dig that the budget will produce something good based on the budget alone.
Also an amazon show 😂
Or She-Hulk
My mind went straight to The Acolyte but then I instantly remembered that it was made before the release of The Acolyte lmao
Thought it was a dig at secret invasion to be honest
Giancarlo Esposito looked like he was having fun this episode. Love seeing that guy on my screen.
Has he actually played a GOOD guy since Breaking Bad? lol
@@G4MER28he is in a show called Parish, hes the main protagonist.
@@lobodesade6780 I bet he is like secretly evil tho lol
@@G4MER28anybody who hates Homelander like he does is fine with me 🤣
The Spoilerman should watch "Homicide: Life on the Streets" to see a young Giancarlo Esposito and consider doing a review.
Can we just say Hughie's dad is the only good parent in the boys, he raised hughie right.
I'd disagree with a few things. His willingness to kowtow to Vought for the payout was absolutely spineless. Then proceeded to berate his son about not having "the fight in him" Good dad in retrospect but that was pitiful parenting and I'm glad Hughie went through with burning Vought
@@Skiller131I disagree with you, yeah it does seem wrong from Huhgie’s perspective but I wouldn’t want my son on a vengeful path. I mean look at where it’s gotten him, he was wronged and has a right to go down that road. However it’s reasonable for a father to try to help him move on
@@Skiller131yeah but atleast he didn't inject hughie with v, which he easily could've gotten a lot of money for, all that matters is he did his best to raise hughie
Not being a terrible father doesnt mean he is not a bad one
Is milks parents bad i cant remember? But like pointing out flaws in hughies dad doesnt make him good or bad the whole show is about everyone is flawed. So id still say hughies dad is good but defs not perfect. Spineless and insensitive with how he responded to hughies gf dying but like arguably a realist. Like if hughies wasnt a main character he wouldnt of even gotten anywhere close to fighting supes.
It's worth noting that the Translucent film bombed because nobody saw it
!!!!
@@heavyspoilers It died in the arse
Boooo! 🤓
Took me a sec 🤦♀️
Niiiice.
Initially I thought the scenes with Hughie would be boring but I was shocked. The scene of him calling his dad a hero and him saying goodbye got to me. speaking from experience being a single dad isn't easy and during his manic moments, the only thing important to him was his little boy Hughie. Really touched me.
This video would be great without you

Gotta give it to Simon Pegg and Jack Quaid, the definitely are serious emmy contenders with this episode along with Anthony Starr. What a set of great performances all across the board.
If Anthony Starr wont get an Emmy, no one in this cast will.
Simon Pegg really impressed me this episode
Right, cuz they always give those awards to actors ripping out hearts😂
it was a good episode but an emmy for one episode?
@@singthesoftlight performance for guest actor category for sure
Becca is the shoulder angel to Butcher, while JDM is the shoulder devil , a classic plot device , but implemented very well.
It depends on whether it’s implemented well or not based on if Butcher clearly sees Becca and JDM both as proper hallucinations/ghosts OR if he thinks JDM is real. Kinda robs Butcher of lots of agency if he’s getting fight clubbed😅
What's JDM?

Everyone misses that Vaught doesn't let the black heroes announce the black initiative further silencing and using the black heroes.
nobody misses that... its the whole point? the irony is the point, fawkin ell
THANK YOU YES
I think that we also got confirmation durning the barn scene that Joe Kessler is Butchers hallucination. Samir never once looked to the side (where joe should be standing). He only did when Butcher turned to Joe and said "we will patch you up" and Samir seemed suprised like "who is this guy talking to"
nice get, I did not catch that!
Nope. Then where would he have got that information folder from.
You ever seen fight club? @theandrogynousmisogynist
The guy gave him drugs to knock Ryan out tho, since when have hallucinations been able to do that? Why doesn't mine offer ME drugs?
@@YSleepish but he never used the drugs, they could potentially not be real
man this episode had me cracking up, from the white native american, to the a train movie to butcher telling the man his football days are over.🤣🤣
the football joke was hilarious. Butcher made me LOL multiple times this episode
this man is in no condition to f*ck a sheep
Do not forget Frenchy saying this man is beyond fucking any sheep.
Fastest spoilerman alive
Nah this wasn't that fast, usually he's got them uploaded within a few mins but this released like 6 hours after the episode dropped😂
Not really
He the A train of spoilers 😅
Yea this was my notification that the episode dropped
Right ,I had to go watch it as soon as I woke up just to avoid this video
There was such great dialogue and conversation in this episode. The best line however was Frenchie's.
"This man is in no condition to fuck a sheep."
I had to pause it, so I could laugh.
" I'd call you a c**t but you dont have the depth or the warmth "
I burst out laughing at that! Was not expecting that
"Aight, off we fuck!" Is a good runner-up
I remember he said something along the lines of “ Oh fuck, not again “ when the sheep were flying around…like, my guy, Frenchie. Stay off the DRUGS😂
Yeahhhhh that’s super funny… I forgot to laugh. Is this your first year watching tv ?
Simon Pegg was fantastic. And the nod to the farm with the end credit music was perfect. Best episode of Season 4 so far.
I appreciate a semi chill episode after Homelander’s own psychological horror film that took place last week.
Bruh how was this episode chill? 😆
Nah this episode was horrifying.. dementia Simon Pegg had me crying my eyes out.
Teleporting phasing dementia murderer, superpowered animals- it's anything but chill loool
It felt more chill to me. As this was more bombastic and less torture porn than episode 4. But i also watched this episode after my sleeping pills didnt work so that probs took the edge of it for me. I normally cry hella easy and while everyone in simon pegs scene acted hella well somehow i didnt.
Compared to the rest of the episodes... yeah, pretty chill.
When Tek Knight said there's a 12(?) minute scene that all black was absolutely a shot at the GoT battle scene that was too dark to watch.
or any DC movies, especially Batman ones, in the last 2.5 decades
😂He nailed the Big Pun Little Italy line out of nowhere... That's pretty impressive.
I thought that aha
Pretty Phenomenal!!!
God that was so sad at the end with Hughie’s dad, it actually made me cry took me back to when my mum had dementia. Brilliant acting from Simon Pegg and the actor that plays Hughie. Heartbreaking stuff.
His death scene was awkward and empty just like his character

Butcher saw that bunny had both regular V and temp-V before he let it go, I think he knows those tentacles that came out of the bunny are what’s currently writhing around this skull.
In this case, can Temp-V be the solution to slowly kill Homelander, or make him worse?
@@Kiwi-Araga Temp V give the Bunny and butcher the black thing and then the Normal V made that thing alive, it wouldnt do anything to homelander
@@ErickElDios There's a possibility that he's taking some of the V he confiscated. If mixing both of them can create that parasite, then Homelander may have enough normal V inside him for a reaction.
So basically normal v + temp v creates the parasite. Butcher took some normal v as it is confirmed in the previous episodes. Now we don't know what this parasite can do, hell- it could even be something that kills Homelander if someone manages to inject him with temp v but they will prob have to retcon the fact that the process will take 6 months or more.
@@Nwader4life Maybe the parasite will be a way to get near homelander in the final fight to inject the virus, don‘t know for what they would bring up the whole virus thing otherwise
The scene where Hughie says to his father, you're my hero and says goodbye to him. Without a doubt what his words were makes him harder and unable to cry.😭😭
Did simon pegg dead? What hughie inject to him?
I think Ryan's outfit in this episode is worth noting. He's got a white coat on, a color associated with purity. But underneath is a red & blue shirt, Homelander's colors.
I've noticed almost all his outfits have the same color as the flag. I think in one episode he had on red, white, and blue plaid. Excellent choice by wardrobe
Imagine spending half this video talking about a fake movie line up.
I was gutted when I realised we were just 3 mins into the episode and I’d spent all morning on the script
Yeah this guy fell off
Right. I had to fast forward to the stuff that's actually important
Yuck i know..
Get your shit together "Paul" i miss Definition nut up son
Every time you say V52, I start singing "Love Shack!".... Ryan looks to be getting older in every episode. By season 5, he'll be a grown man.
3:15 Fun fact: The guy in that 70's commercial was an Italian American actor who changed his name from Espera Oscar de Corti to "Iron Eyes Cody" to get jobs as an extra in westerns in the 60's.
Frenchies sheep comment had me DYING LMFAO
I find it funny that Homelander and Ryan criticize Adam for abusing his power, as they abuse their power
oh yeah. gosh I overlooked that one.
my media literacys rusty 😅
Homelander tells Ryan to live his life while telling him what to do
Evidence in support of Nietzsche's take on the Will to Power.
Yeah i was surprised more people didn't catch that.
How tf did Butcher find the time to tie up sammear and cut off his leg without anyone realising weren't they all together at the same time throughout the moment they met up with him at the barn 🤣
Yeah was wondering about that tbh....
From what I saw when they ran out the barn samir ran another way and butcher probably followed him so that gave him time to knock samir out cut his leg off and appear back to the group
Fr also couldn’t he have just shot him in the leg or something, taking the entire thing off seems overkill and risky that the doctor won’t just get an infection or bleed out
@@natedavis8067That doesn't make any sense. Butcher needed something that leads others to believe Sameer got devoured to death by the sheeps. Shooting a leg won't give him that since he needs Sameer as a prisoner as well. Maybe cutting off a finger would have been fine but yk butcher..he always goes a little overboard.
I’m willing to bet, it may have something to do with Butches unknown V powers with the worm inside him.
I did find it a bit odd when ONLY butcher saw the creature inside that one animal and he stepped on it. Why did we need to see this scene? I feel he is going through the same thing except it hasn’t killed him and is probably one with Butcher…almost like a Venom/Symbiote situation
Cheers for checking out the video. Let us know if there’s anything we missed.
Yeah, I believe the actor in the original Crying Indian litter commercial was played by Iron Eyes Cody an Italian American Actor 😂
the vibe i got from homelander was that he knew it was A Train. he called him out specifically to deal damage. then he and Sage looked at each other when they were watching A Train's dicomfort. Sage probably told him to not have a knee jerk reaction like last week so they can observe what A Train will do next. i am however on board with the idea that Sage is trying to take don the 7 from within
I personally think Sage is keeping Atrain alive. She's the smartest woman in the world but doesn't know when she's been lied to twice about something as serious as a whistleblower among them? Nah, I think she knows but doesn't want to rat him out for some reason
I believe Joe Kessler is in Butcher’s imagination.
That scene with Hughie's dad really hit me hard too. I was by my dad's deathbed when he passed away due to cancer years ago. I know the situation is different but man, the emotion was real.
Hughie Sr. accident first kill is a nod to the first kill of Hughie in the comics when he punches a supe through his heart.
I love how this show can be goofy and serious at the same time it’s one of the things that makes the show great
Reminds me of supernatural
vampire bat sheep
I don’t give a toss about frenchies guilt all of a sudden
Don't think he's gonna make it if I'm being honest. They gave him a quick relationship, talks about his faith and guilt and turns himself in. They're like speed running ends to tie up before writing out a character. I think he's gonna go out in sacrifice to clear his guilt or unite the team if we're going off tropes.
@@KevinKeys-KK yeah you’re making a good point. Sometimes the boys foreshadow 1 thing tho then go a different direction.
@@KevinKeys-KK you may be right, but I don't mind. if they do it right no harm no foul
Good for you. I'm enjoying it.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in Billy Butcher's head and he represents the Parasite, Symbiote aspect personality. So Jeffrey Dean's character is the second personality with Becca being the first personality. It's literally Fight Club meets A Beautiful Mind meets Mr. Brooks meets Secret Window.
i think it's just the evil version of butcher
No, JDM’s character represents Billy’s mission to see the supes gone no matter the cost - even if he’s gotta burn bridges to do it. The Becca hallucination is what grounds him to do the right thing.
Definitely seems like something going on with him from that look by Samir
@@heavyspoilers Ryan Arey got the best of you
Missed the chance to just mention MR.Robot
Simon Peggs performance in that episode was absolutely outstanding!
This episode had me on the verge of tears with Hughies story😫
Crazy part is , hugie dad could have killed Homelander
When Annie first showed trouble using her powers, the next shot of Neuman smirking led me to believe that it was Neuman suppressing them with her blood powers. But I guess I was mistaken because it doesn’t seem that’s what the writers intended
Heavy Spoilers spittin legendary Big Pun lyrics? 🤯...He's a real one.
Frenchie: if I had a Euro for every time I was attacked by invulnerable juiced up lab animals, I'd have 2 Euros. Which isn't that many, but it's weird it happened twice.
Kimiko: 🤨
Neuman saying to starlight “projectile dysfunction “ was definitely my favorite part 😂😂
Im getting High Evolutionary vibes from this episode because of all the animals.
Also, the I will remember you song always gets me from the Spiderman Far From Home intro. In the beginning with all the deceased Avengers on the High School news network. 18:25

tbh the thing that came into my mind was “animal farm.” idk why
By the way netflix actually does change their thumbnails based on your viewing patterns/race (which was what the reference was for the black at it segment) for example I compared my thumbnails to that of my white friend and because I tend to watch black shows Netflix pushes black characters in their thumbnails my white friend who watches more white shoes had the opposite effect and when we compare shows we both watch like sex education he got Asa Butterfield in the thumbnail while I got Ncuti Gatwa.
Woah! I never noticed that. And now that you mentioned it, I checked my Netflix account. I think you're right. I'm Asian and I see a bunch of Asian shows on my recommended list, even though, I seldom watch any. In the case of the thumbnails, I may need to compare this to my other friends' accounts though.
great ep today. Was so nice to see Stan again. Towards the end while he was driving off, I almost thought he was the one who blew the driver's head off, lol. Like he finally reveals he has powers. V'd up animals is SCARY. The stuff w/ Hughie and his dad was 🥺😭...and their mockery of Comic Con/D23 was on point. Loved how A-Train's tralier even got that ridiculous trope of making a classic well known song either "sad" or "epic"
thank you for always being fast with these breakdowns!!
Loved the Gustavo Fring neat freak nod when he asked for a towel to cover the seat in the van.
I have to say this is my favorite superhero channel here, you guys are so quick with it and also through at the same time.
Love theroy time segemnt, and your sense of humor, never fails to crack me up love from iran
RESPECT on the "then in the middle of little Italy little did we know that we riddle to middle men who didn't do diddily" haha
You killed that Big Pun verse! Lol
This was a great episode again. Seeing Ryan do what he did and the way he drinks his drink with that grin on his face was brilliantly done, He’s becoming Homelander 2.0!!!
those V’d up animals were funny to see as well. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Just finished watching it, Episode still went strong, especially with Stan Edgar back again(I swear this man is even more like Lex Luthor in this episode)!
I wanted Hugh Snr to pop them all away to Paris just before he passes. As if maybe the V effect has similar effects based on genetics.
The team is in turmoil. Except Huey, he got the closure he needed and is the only level headed person currently in the Boys And I think it’s gonna be him who helps them regain their confidence.
The whole "just like Caesar" comment had me thinking that sage is going to double cross
I knew it was over when Cameron Coleman of all people had two moments absolutely destroying two characters Ashley and the peak
I love finishing the episode, and being able to hop into a breakdown immediately. What a way to start my morning!! Hello from AZ
Something you might have missed. At the end it plays "Old McDonald had a farm" but the first 3 verses are about birds and the 4th verse is pigs. Could this be referencing something that happens "when pigs fly"?
Theory Time: Sage will be the one to eventually re-develop the virus to kill Homelander. But it won't work; maybe just weaken him. Then Cindy and Ryan will help finish him off. A Train won't survive the season.
I've filtered through recap-bros and it turns out you're still killing it. Glad I found your channel a couple years ago.
Homie said after 1 year of my movie debut... We are due for a REBOOT 😂😅😂
I doubt Jamie was the same hamster seeing as he's in Russia, I think Frenchie and MM eere just commenting on the fact that they met another V'd up hamster, hence why they already know it's a bad idea.

I have work today and I only slept two hours lol
People need to stop saying everyone is a hallucination, the only hallucinating is Becca. You realize how repetitive it is to have every new character as a hallucination , that’s dumb
i bet you it’s his friend that died and he’s hallucinating him
Kessler is definitely a hallucination
@@kyleisbart197 I don’t think so, he gave butcher the drug lol
Lol I love your break downs!!! You broke it down to the shirts!!😂
Hella impressed by you pulling off the dead in the middle of little Italy bar 😅😂
I fully thought Sage was on Homelander's side, but after this episode im staring to think she definitely has her own agenda.
I think Joe Kessler is real actually, he was the one to saw off the leg, and the rest of stuff. I think only Becca is Butcher hallucinating but Joe is made to look to be the same until the end of this season when someone else speaks to him as well by name or he interacts with another person other than The Butcher. I don't buy the "He's a hallucination" scenario
Also Sammeer just lost his leg and woke up inside a barn, he has the right to look as confused as ever, or maybe he recognized Joe Kessler and that's why he gave that look.
Nah, Joe's in butchers head, the look from Sammir be one of, who are you talking to ?
I was convinced hughie's mother was also in his head, until his dad interacted with his mother too. 🤔
Why was Kessler acting surprised when he saw Shameer?
Good job with the big pun part. Made me like this
Props for the Big Pun lyrics, that threw me for a loop 😂
My Nan is currently in the last stages of Alzheimer’s, so seeing hugie dad have the memory loss, confused panics and bursts of anger, really touch home. I know that probably wasn’t what they were aiming for but they handled it all beautifully. Im glad they got their goodbyes and it was a soft end
Ryan is gonna become unhinged
I don't think he will because he acted like that out of nowhere in think he's playing homelander
Thanks for doing these man!
U killed them big pun bars my boi
*I can sorta see the Final Season* being Ryan turning into a monster that horrifies Homelander.. and it’s up to both Butcher and Homelander to both realise they’ve both created a monster.
I don’t think that’s going to happen because Ryan won’t be turning into a monster like his father. I believe he’s going to be against Homelander once he sees the truth about him
@JoshuaHornbaker - he’s starting to enjoy the violence so idk
Theres nothing Ryan can do that would horrify Homelander and there is nothing that could make Butcher team up with Homelander nor harm Ryan.
@@firstlast9846 not exactly completely but he’ll perhaps know that he doesn’t want to do it on innocent people

The Indian in the original commercial wasn't a native. He was an Italian dude
I don’t care about anybody in this show anymore. I feel like the only interesting character left is homelander.
Butcher’s story is promising
Deep is funny lol
Best part of this review was the Big Pun rap it was great mate!
After watching this episode, I'm beginning to think Joe is just a figment of Butcher's imagination.
Marvel Cinematic Universe reference happened with Vought Cinematic Universe.
That was mentioned all the way back in season 1
Really, can't say I noticed....
I just got done the episode and I never thought I'd laugh so hard at some sheep. I feel like I wouldn't of found it so funny but damn...the sheep got me😂. Great episode, fucking awesome.❤also I think its safe to say Hughie's mom is real but I don't think Kessler is, did u see dudes face when he says "we" , dude looks over like, whos we? However I could be wrong but we haven't seen him with anyone but Butcher and I guess his wife is the angel and Kessler is the Devil on his shoulder...idk I'm pretty sure Kessler isn't but I could absolutely be wrong.
Thanks Paul.
So I like that homelander is building up Ryan with small stuff to build Ryan into a monster rather than try and force the issue
Wasn't the Native American in that ad like Italian or something? I mean, in real life.
Yep. He was an Italian American.
Yes and I'm convinced that that was the actual point of that scene.
To remind us that the show's version of America is like real America on steroids. They didn't even have to pretend to cast an actual Native American in that timeline.
15:01 🤣🤣🤣
you hit us with the bars bro, took me very off guard 😂
Am I the only one who was baffled as to why Victoria didn't just pop the flying death sheep? I mean she popped the chicken who was gonna kill stan. They definitely just wasted that last dose of the virus for no reason.
Kessler saying "the team is a joke" is definitely a nod the The Comedian's "its all a joke" in Watchmen.
Edgar, not Sameer. Sameer is the scientist.
This episode kinda confirms that season 4 is a partial filler and setup based season.
I couldn’t be happier with the Pun rhymes! You and MT red to do more team ups!

Pointing out that Vaught used a White guy as a Native American for that anti littering campaign from the 70s, but Not pointing out that the Real advertisement from the 70s the "Native American" Aka Chief Iron Eyes Cody was actually Italian is a bit of a mis my guy.
Almost as big as pointing it Vaught's attempt at connecting with Black people but not pointing out it was only white people announcing it and not letting the actual POC speak at all
