    Well, what if the "second safeguard" is ALWAYS active outside. Solo/Jimmy does mention dust blowing in and then they die. If there's something in the external enviorment, it may be moved by the wind...

    I'm a recent reader of the trilogy as I think I've mentioned in earlier comments. Season 2 was very different than the books. The whole judge Meadows arc, not in the book. The mystery of who Solo actually is , not in the book. Quinn message-not. Rebellion in silo 18 very different. I could list a long paragraph of the differences here. It was as if a different book had been adapted. It made the first half of the series seem so tediously slow. Once I resigned myself to not try and sync the books with show, but just watch what the show runners were delivering, did I start to really enjoy the series. I will say the last two episodes brought the series to a very satisfying and emotional conclusion. The writers took us book readers on a much different journey to a very similar ending. Going forward there will be story lines left out from the books, which I am sorry about, but there are plenty of character arcs that will make up for that i.e. Camille Sims. Power vacuums are always dangerous and volatile times. Her story has so many ways it can go. Shift is the second book and it gives us the origin story of the silos and the Founders. It wasn't until deep into this book did the reader find out about what the show called the "Safe Guard". The last 5 minutes of episode 10 does tell us will be learning about the genesis; which is Great. Season 3 will most likely switch back and forth between silo 18 to 300 plus years earlier to see how they intersect and lead to a final reveal in season 4. Many of your speculations are very interesting. Are you guys actually show writers on the down low? (chuckle, chuckle)

    maybe Wash DC is the 51 st in the future? and yeah it seems Helen finds herself in Silo 18. But to get a half million people from all over the country moved into those silos and segregated by state would probably cause a lot of attention eh? Not to mention taking a lot of time. People would notice unless you did it slowly. be hard keeping a secret with that many in on it too. I don't think they're separated by state but I could be wrong. if they have algorithms that can pick it heads and sheriffs then they could pick candidates for Silo.

    There's only 3 possible choices Tanya Spencer or Debra's new boyfriend... Due to the fact that all 3 of these characters are never mentioned in the original.. Example you would think Tanya would be mentioned in the original Dexter because she's the one who gave them the idea about M99.. You would think Spencer was mentioned in the original because he was the captain before Matthews.. A lot of this is just common sense

    I believe the cop that we are getting to know will be a victim of the guy killing the gay men. I believe that killer to be Brian. And the same way we are seeing Dexter perfect his craft of killing. We are also seeing Brian's victims as he perfect his. The reason why Dexter is so comfortable getting into the shoes of the killer, is because it's Brian's shoes he's fitting into. Showing us / audience just how alike they are. Us seeing the Ice Truck is a nod to Brian but I don't think it was him driving. The truck Brian used in the OG series was stolen. Doubt he's driving in a stolen truck for 10 years. Just the show letting us know he has always been around Dexter.. I believe Tanya knows the kidnapper is the Aaron due to the oil spill being avoided in the garage. But she has nothing to go off of. I believe she and / or Dexter will figure out it's the Captain and Tanya will be a casualty of it.. I believe Dexter is going to try and tell Harry he knows it's Aaron, but Harry will not believe him. Because of how close they are. Gio, I believe is an abusive boyfriend and that will push Debra to become a cop. She was extremely hard on Paul and his abuse towards Rita.. When we met Gio he was with a boxer and promotion group.. So, he will definitely be aggressive here in a bit.. I really enjoyed this ep. and thank you guys for bringing this to us.

    I think the bow was generational. There were probably more survivors in 17 earlier on after the rebellion. As food became more and more scarce, they needed a way to hunt rats. There were other animals in the silo that could have also survived, at least for a while. Thinking this is where feathers would have come from. These kids would have just inhereted these tools then.

    if you look at the overview of the outside shot of all the silos the thing I noticed is they are all surrounded by berms and running around the perimeter of the bowls made by the berms are big pipes like oil or gas pipes.

    Great discussion! I am wondering why a "delta alert" wasn't sounded when Judge Meadows, George Wilkins and Lucas went down deep? If the algorithm, as implied, sees and hears everything then why wasn't Bernard notified? Why didn't his keyring light up? I know that, as it appears, Bernard does not know the full reason why the silos were created but, I find it strange that the algorithm didn't consider it to be a delta event. Also, if the main silo notified Bernard that Juliette made it into Silo 17, then why isn't it keeping him abreast of her actives there? I also thought it was so funny that he could stand in the water and walk to the door🤣

    • @Hobodeluxe007
      @Hobodeluxe007 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      i think the helmet cam was Bernard's doing not another silo feeding it. also why the Algorithm notified the delta event is that it was a public event. Those others were kept quiet. Bernard is out of the loop on a lot of things it seems which is why he wants to know what was on that mesage.

    10:02 they said it was deliberately flooded by judicial in an effort to stop the rebellion. They prob thought they’d have time to stop the water from flooding the whole silo, while destroying the people in the down deep.

    30 years is plenty at the low end for time passage since the rebellion. Mom had child at 15ish.Yes that's young but wouldn't be unusual in a survival situation. Regardless of actor ages I'm pretty sure the new characters aren't supposed to be older than their mid-teens.

  • @waynerogers864
    @waynerogers864 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I am a recent book reader so I will not reveal spoilers, but I will talk about how the show and books differ. There are no tunnels connecting silos in the books. I agree with Liam that behind the door is a flood waiting to be released, aka safeguard, in the event a silo goes rogue as silo 17 did. The beginning of the flood destroys mechanical severing crucial life giving services. Yet each floor has temporary and limited backups as we saw in season one when generator shut down for repair. As the silo continues to flood it forces people out into the still toxic wasteland. There apparently were folks who chose not to leave and took their chance to survive inside. I imagined several small bands of people vying for limited supplies and resources. Not a pretty or safe environment. All the children were born long after the rebellion and exodus. They learned their survival skills from their parents or maybe even grand parents. The bow may have been a relic hidden from authorities for generations giving Audrey's family a distinct advantage for survival. The timeline is difficult to determine. Here's my best guess. Eater's mom is a baby when rebellion takes place. She, the mom, is raised to age of puberty and becomes pregnant herself as a young teenager giving birth to Eater. So maybe 24 to 30 years have passed to the present. The Solo backstory is a little different than the books. Readers know Solo/ Jimmy is IT head's son from the get go. I do like the show version a little better as it deepens and enriches Solo's story a lot more. I couldn't figure out why there was such a mystery to him in the show. It seemed superfluous as a book reader. But the show delivered a brilliant reveal. When Solo realized there was a baby his whole outlook changed. Babies were rare and cherished in the silo as there was a strict birth control protocol in place. He agreed to open the vault at that point and was genuinely willing to share all he had. It's like his "adult" self kicked in and he felt a kind of protective, dare I say nurturing, vibe. His was very patient as the kids explored their new surroundings. Even when Eater dropped the test tube he didn't mad but quietly told her to be careful. Lukas is in a really difficult spot. He obviously is going to hide the rest of the message from Bernard; having his mother hide Quinn's copy of the Pact. He also knows the silo is at risk for destruction but can't tell anyone how he knows. I don't know what his next moves could be. I'll be trying to suss that out this week. Knox knows Walker is the mole. By telling her it was Teddy's mom and they can't punish her is him telling her that he understands her situation. He is also, I believe, setting up Bernard with misinformation. Next week should be really good. I don't think it would be possible for each individual silo to be connected to silo 0 or 51 by a tunnel system. The view at the end of season 1 shows a grid pattern to the silo project not an offset radial design. Plus 50 tunnels converging to one central point would be physically impossible considering the size of the tunnels.

    • @Hobodeluxe007
      @Hobodeluxe007 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      yeah Knox is setting up an ambush like Bernard set up. I get the feeling Camille, Billings, the deputies join the rebels. Shirley probably tells everyone that Lukas told her Jules was alive when her camera quit. Looks like Sims might be headed towards Bernard and may ambush him on the way to his secret room and take his key.

    Brian Moser was the Ice Truck Killer in season one. He went under the name Rudy Cooper. Dexter killed him at the end of season one. It wasn't reveled who Rudy was / or what he meant to Dexter until the last ep. We knew he was the Ice Truck Killer we just didn't know who he really was until the last ep. We then found out Brian was in the container with Dexter for two days. Harry adopted Dexter because of his age, but left Brian to the state. He told Dexter once he found him, he was excited to know they were the same. It's just that Dexter didn't know who he was. So, all the killings in season 1, was to bring forth those forgotten memories.

    My theory on the Big Bad is Tanya. 1. She is small and the victims are children 2. She is a mother and the victims are being fed childlike food. Easily something she could grab from the fridge. 3. She is never around and gone for hours at a time. 4. She lurks, she even got the drop on Dexter. 5. No one notices her, and who would suspect a woman to be a killer. The scene with Harry was definitely traumatizing to watch. And I agree, Dexter was in complete control. He knew exactly what to do say and almost in a way felt bigger, more powerful than his father. Looking down on him, pointing in his face. Harry, I feel in that moment was too scared to go against his son.. He felt small.. And to gain the upper hand again. Played it off like he is still in control of Dexter. Telling him to use salts, and to "Go after him". He knows he's lost control, but in order to hand onto it.. He still needed to make himself "tell Dexter what to do". All while knowing there is nothing more he can do.. Harry's flashbacks to me suggested this entire time he was training Dexter to "Keep up a mask" came from his mask. He feels resentment towards Doris for getting pregnant right when he is falling for someone else. And Deb for taking that "family" away. His neglect towards Deb comes from the fact. He never wanted her.. He wanted Laura and Dexter as his "family". But had to "mask" his marriage as a happy one. Deb's boyfriend I feel is the son or nephew of someone in the cartel. But doesn't necessarily want anything to do with it, but has too. That's their lifestyle. Harry, out of revenge for Laura want to Deb as far away from him as possible. Which will cause more friction between them. I actually enjoyed this ep. and for me was a great character build for all.. On what's to come. I would hope that with the audience liking Original Sin. They do continue this story with more seasons... Leading up to the first ep. of the OG series. That would be great to see. Loving the commentary you guys present. Great conversations between the two of you.

    so tired of everyone saying it's moving too slow, no it's not. lots of things are happening in 18, it's just Juliette's story is being paced because all these things are concurrent and coming together for a good reason. these characters need to be informed to make the decisions they will make when it comes time. So it feels like we're taking steps back or running in place when they switch back to 17. we so want Jules story to progress but it can't until these things happen and as a viewer we feel like we are not moving. but we are

    5:03 Sims is reacting exactly the way a husband would react to his wife, who he sincerely loves, when she is plotting and scheming things without his knowledge. 😂 He’s trying to be patient but it’s throwing him off his game. I think something some women don’t realize is that some men can only focus on one thing at a time. He can’t focus on what he is trying to accomplish now, over throwing Bernard, AND whatever his wife might be up to-which seems to be the same goal. These two are hilarious! Their plot line is more believable than anything else in the show.

    Excellent question! Too young for the rebellion IF it really was 25 years ago. This episode was poorly written and didn’t move the story along at all. The only new information we received is the introduction of new characters. Other then that, none of the character’s interactions nor Juliette’s continual stunts add to the storyline, which is another thing episodes are supposed to do. This is just lazy writing.

    Last week I said rebellions did not occur every generation. Bernard claimed they occurred every 20 years or so until Quinn found the solution that led to the last 140 years of relative peace. The names on the walls in the deep down deep does suggest that there has been a lot of upheaval in the past. So I stand corrected. Season 2 of the show is almost entirely the creation of the show writers and does not follow the original book material that closely at all. Juliette does make it to silo 17, meets Solo but is allowed in the vault, does deep dive to restart the pumps, Solo is attacked during the dive, Juliette surfaces and goes searching for and finds the attackers. They are much younger in the book. Most of what is happening in silo 18 on the show is not anything like what took place in the books. So theories about up coming events or character arcs is anybody's guess. Book readers may actually be at a disadvantage. I like Chris's theory about the attackers being wasteland interlopers coming into silo17 for supplies. There is information from the books that could make it possible for survival outside if show writers choose to go that route. Walker may have been outwitted and compromised by Bernard,but I hope she will find a way to turn things around. Quinn's message is info about the silos that book readers don't get until late in the second and third books. Chris's theory about malevolent overlords is one way show runners could proceed. Really insightful . Maybe you should be sitting in the writers' room man.

    Hey Chris, there are 144 levels in each silo. From top to bottom it is almost a mile and a quarter deep in the ground. It houses a max of 10,000 people. Rebellions are not generational occurrences. Silo 18 had one 140 years ago from the present day of the show. Silo 17 had one about 25 years ago. Not everyone from silo 17 went outside. There were the decayed raiders in episode 2 that Jules had to step over a few levels above where Solo is, and she mentioned the two bodies outside the vault were a lot more recently deceased than the others that she had seen. Plus the threatening message on the wall outside the vault seems to suggest people were trying to get into the vault for some time. There have been several camera shots that also hinted that someone was watching Juliette and Solo. Hopefully we will see who it is next week. I'm guessing that at least a week or more has passed since episode 6. No way Lukas has been able to eliminate all the books in that library in a couple of days. Same in mechanical, collecting scraps of paper, writing all the pr notes and then building a rocket to send them up top had to take a good deal of time. The Judge Meadows and Salvador Quinn message story arc is not in the book. For me it is a really good addition to the series. I'm hoping it reveals a peek at what happens in the second book of the trilogy. Gotta wait though.

      1. If there is another person how are they getting food? The only food we’ve been made aware of is in the vault. There has been camera work over the past episodes to indicate there is someone in Silo 17 watching Solo and Juliette. Wizard of Oz the Emerald City being run by “the man behind the curtain” a charlatan who gets outta there in the hot air balloon, before the angry crowd goes after him.

      one thing that is weird to me. the code to get into the vault is supposed to be 6 digits iirc and Solo only enters 4 on his door keypad but (and I paid attention this week) Bernard pressed 6. We see on the blackboard they had been trying 6 digit codes. So it appears that the head of I. T. can change the code. And change it to an easier to remember 4 digit code from a 6. Something a kid might do. And even then (he seems to remember all sorts of stuff no problem) he had a problem with those 4 digits so i suspect he changes it often maybe. That suggests he's in a constant state of fear of them cracking it. Also if they have a memory altering drug/gas who is to say how many rebellions were averted or stopped and then forgotten. Between that and the intentional withholding of facts inside entire societies our unreliable narrator perspective looms large.

    Camille Sims is the real brains and brawn behind Robert Sims' attempts to gain positions of power and influence. Yet every action she has taken, has been to the benefit of the rebellious factions in the silo. In season 1 she let Juliette leave her apartment with the hard drive relic. This season she saved Knox and Shirley from the mob by stashing them in an apartment knowing they would try to continue their escape. She was the one who set up the point of confrontation with rebels if they did try to advance up the stairs, And yes it was Camille who nodded to the incompetent Admunson to set the new boundary on floor 120, giving the Mechanicals a source of food on level 122. Her face to face with Bernard was her in complete control of the situation. She wasn't scared by him, but actually defeated all his incriminating questions and veiled accusations. Bernard is the one who left with his tail between his legs. I have read all three books and I am still really enjoying this series. Most of what has taken place this season is not in the book. Many of the main show characters do not play as much of a role in the books i.e. Judge Meadows story line not in the book. Yet the show is headed in the same over all direction of the original source material. For me it is even more interesting and fun to speculate about future events. Guessing how the show runner and writers get us to the final cliff hanger is kind of like being a detective.

I think the season will end with Jules getting the pump turned on and Solo allowing her to use the radio to contact 18. I wonder when they will introduce us to (book spoilers) ? You'd think it would be soon because a lot of that part of the story plays out alongside our story we're seeing now. 5:31 I thought the same thing about the wife. I think she saw what’s on the hard drive because Meadows had it. And I think she lied to Sims when she said that she barely knew her. It’s likely that she was pushing Sims to be his shadow so she could get access to the server room. She will lead the rebellion. It didn’t make sense that Meadows said she “can’t” tell Bernard what is on there in the middle of dying. What difference would it have made unless she was trying to protect someone else?
