I am eager to buy 'Next-Gen' but I won't. Not yet, simply because of the overwhelming backlog of games I have yet to play!
I just bought an Xbox one x since I can’t get a ps5 nor Xbox series x/s, partly due to scalpers... game pass will keep me occupied for some time, I’ve always been PlayStation man due to exclusives, but game pass has made me buy my first Xbox console!!
Play em on PS5 or series X with 60 fps

@@capcomfan82 lol it's the opposite my friend. I have such a big backlog from the PS3 era and not having enough time to catch up! I started out on the Nintendo 64 - I don't require great graphics. Great gameplay and story are my jam.

When you get to the 7th gen, compare it to 8th and 9th gen, they are basically the same gen. Except anything from Nintendo though. My suggestion is stay with 7th gen because most games are completed. You're not missing much.

I went in without looking at unboxings and reviews of the console and controllers. And when I played astro I was blown away... I don't know how to explained it but I felt like a little kid again. The control is amazing. It changes everything for me.
Yes, it's a bit weird that Sony didn't emphasize it way more as it's clearly a major next-gen feature compared to faster loading for both consoles.
How does it compare with hd rumble on switch.
@@AntonioCardenasT big difference. In the game astro bot u can feel the diferent textures. Like grass, sand etc. Its hard to explain but it is a big change. HD rumble was good.. but not at this level.

I tend to not open games until I play them, so sometimes they don't get opened for a long time... then it just feels weird to open them.
I do, eventually, but it still feels a bit odd.

i like physical because i like having the actual product in my hands and i like owning my copy of the game i supposedly bought. i don't care for digital one bit.

@@Soup-man i make a note of games i'm interested in, and i actually do have plenty of indie games on my switch, but i have a wishlist and if they get a physical release then i'll buy them.
@@derek-64 I used to try getting as much as I could physically, but at some point, it gets ridiculously tedious. I wasted months trying to find Final Fantasy 10 HD collection and DOOM 2016 for the Switch in my area, but I couldn't find it. I tried for about a year and just gave up and got it digitally. (Also I would have to download 10-2 via a code which would make resell value not nearly as much). I'm also considering PC gaming, so wanting all physical would kind of hypocritical as a PC player too.
@@Soup-man indeed buying physically for some games these days, mainly the indie stuff, is a bit frustrating sometimes but i like having the actual product rather than just having a file on a hard drive or in the internal memory somewhere. with all the stuff i hear about digital the more and more i don't like it.
John is the only guy I know who can have a baby and purchase both next generation consoles all in one year. Absolutely wild. Lol not my reality.
It's his job, and if he wants to continue to support his now larger family he kind of has to purchase each and every system as they are released and review the games he wants to play. It's a business investment and one that he actually could write off on his taxes just like cameras, audio equipment and editing hardware/software.

How do those with slow internet get by? Well, we literally wait days for a single AAA title to download. Even with a disc it might take several hours to download an update. Sucks.
Exactly lol id say about 3 or 4 hours for games 45gb and up. And thats with the disk haha. Digital only is around 6 to 8 hours 😆 my wifi is trash...

My favorite video game review channel. This was another great video! We’re about the same age and I also have some little kids! We will definitely wait until the bugs get ironed out and maybe even go so far as to wait for Halo Ultimate!! I have so many games on my PS4 an Xbox one that I haven’t really thoroughly gotten into yet.

One thing I found out about this gen of consoles, is that you must have a 4K/120hz TV.
That’s not entirely true. Most games will be 4K 60fps. TVs that are HDMI 2.0 will play games at 4K 60fps. When devs do have 4K 120fps more regularly then you’ll benefit from TVs that are HDMI 2.1...best to wait on that until those games come out because those TVs will be way less expensive in a few years
Love the positivity here. This gen is more about quality of life improvements at the start, and I’m loving my Xbox X. I was really torn because I wanted both, but I started with Xbox because most of my collection is on there, and I got to move it up. 4 generations of titles is hard to turn down, especially when most have at the minimum, load improvements to a fraction of a second.
It's so refreshing to hear someone talk about the benefits of waiting.
Having said that, does anybody have a choice right now?

I think we reached a stagnation point of graphic fidelity, where it is now a game's aesthetic that drives the popularity and consumer excitement when initially showcasing a game rather than realistic graphics itself. We were starting to realise it in the previous gen, but I think now its come to fruition.
We need a Kim Plays Demon’s Souls for the first time!! It’s honestly the easiest game in the souls series, just in my opinion, but magic is so OP that maining practically any magic makes the game so much easier! Just sharing in case that helps Kim to pursue the game further because it’s honestly so worth it ^~^ coming from a proud owner of the PS3 platinum =D

Hmph, rumble feature. I've been saying this since 1997 when the Rumble Pak first came along: anything that vibrates and is made of plastic isn't a game controller, it's something else.
That said, sounds like the new feedback integration is pretty cool.
One of the main reasons why I'm getting the Series X (when it finally ships..) is so I can play all of the games I missed out on.
That's the reason I got one too. I'm starting with gears of war 5. Lol
actually im glad I waited too. I went Sony solo for first time solo since original xbox. back when I used to game alot I always had all three systems every generation.
the xbox would let me enjoy all the past 2-3 gens of amazing games!; I missed out on all past gen gears of war for example.

I love gaming and games, but I can’t justify it just yet.

Next gen does have some real quality of life changes even playing last gen games, just the loading speed and quick resume make it so much better. Those are reasons enough to upgrade, once people get some experience of just how much smoother the experience is I don’t think most will think it was a waste.
People keep thinking I'm crazy when I say I'll wait like 4 years before getting a PS5 but like you said, there's a ton of great stuff already on PS4, PS3, etc. and I haven't gotten to a lot of it. Even if I stuck with just the games I currently own, I think I could keep myself busy for 4 years.

As someone who didn't have a PS4 but has a PS5, I have had a few confusing moments. Bought the Miles Morales Ultimate Launch Edition and took a long time trying to figure out how to launch the original Spider-Man Remastered as I wanted to play that first. There was absolutely no indication on how to do this in the software or PS5 UI. The only indication was a download code on the back of a thin piece of paper attached to the inside of the BluRay case. Wasn't that happy about having to download a 70GB game when buying it physically.
Bizarrely, the PS5 crashed and rebooted twice when all I was doing was adding games to my wishlist in the Playstation Store.

I'm for happy you John. Unfortunately I don't have that privilege. My cars breaks gave out. I had to pay $1,400 US. So there goes my next generation. Adulting sucks.
Be strong friend, you can get through this. We've all met some strange complications this year and that is nothing to feel bad about. Drink in the games you got and enjoy your road to whatever horizon you seek. Life is hectic and in the end it's your journey, make it as wonderful as you can even amongst the crazy.
I will be paying monthly for mine as my phone company is selling them so I'm on the list, will probably be a few weeks
Its all good bro! Its worth it to wait anyways. Saves money and by the time you get one hopefully they will have ironed out most of the major issues and more games will be released. Always look at the positives!
I was still able to get my ps5 thankfully but my car had a cracked cylinder head and it was $1700 us to fix. I wasn't sure for a while if I would be able to get the console still.

It just doesnt feel as a new generation. Last time i got amazed by It was on PS3 launch. Since then im a pc guy, that may influence my vision a lot.
You still can't beat the size of the Turbografx 16 cd rom box. Nothing will compare to that beast.

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing too if I can nab one for around $200 that would be great. If not, I may wait awhile for a PS5 or Xbox... still have alot of backlog on my Switch (& Wii U for that matter - going thru Metroid Prime & Castlevania Aria of Sorrow) + more new Switch games to come !
I bought a second hand PS3 for dirt cheap a few months before the PS4 came out. I had a great Summer playing through a lot of the games I'd previously missed out on. Enjoy!

Thank you for this. The benefits of next gen really do seem to mainly be in loading times, speed, etc. This new gen is launching with the fewest amount of exclusives ever. Until devs really start to prioritize next gen, there's no harm for most people to wait. Of course, for people who love to tinker, or love the latest and greatest, there's plenty to love. If you play your XBox One X all the time...why not just get the box that runs these games better? On the other hand, if you're content, you'll be able to play 95% of these games already, so what's the rush?
As a member of the PC Master Race (although I did actually own each of the three last gen consoles at some point and still have a switch) I'm most excited about Next Gen for one very important reason. The Games! PC "ports" should have the graphic settings, fps choices and menu options that at times are lacking when console focused games get ported to PCs because of how powerful the consoles are this generation. In the end it's about the games we play... we ALL win!

Sooo many games... i just passed 5 games in 1 week and its like I did nothing to my backlog.
You wont see a difference in last gen games other than fps and load times.....unless the specific game developer releases a patch
Why isn’t anyone mentioning that there are no real next gen exclusives on the Xbox series x?
Because PS5 only has Demon's Souls, everything else is also on PS4; and Xbox Series X has far superior backwards compatibility, so they're overall pretty evenly matched

I honestly & truly think & get the feeling from feedback among my network of people that the excitement just is not there.
I think its because there's no killer apps, The biggest games are a PS3 remaster, and a PS4 add on, also the graphic upgrades at this point are not as mind blowing.

My PS5 was buzzing really bad when the disk drive was spinning. It was coming from the top white plastic. I took it off and clipped it back in. All the clips engaged and the buzzing stopped.
Gamepass is amazing... You should try Ori 2, amazing game and 6k 120ps. That along for me was worth it, plus Quick Resume. KH3 also looks amazing on series X 60 fps 4k. Ps5 lacks games now, not worth it until next year maybe.

Great video Jonny. Thank you. I'm hyped for next gen, but I have such a backlog of games, that I'm probably going to wait a year or 2. I'm waiting for Resident Evil 8 or Death Loop. I was a Xbox 360 guy, now I'm a PS4 guy. One of the things I enjoy doing is playing Xbox 360 games on PS3 and getting the trophies like for Deus Ex Human Revolution. They really need to remaster that game and release a new one and make an Adam Jensen trilogy or something.
Instead in 2020 I got my first PlayStation (a PS4) and my first Xbox (Xbox 1) to add to my already huge Nintendo collection of consoles and I’m super happy exploring them and everything is gonna be lovely and affordable! Yay!
I am using next gen systems to play last gen games. Especially with XSX it's great to have games starting at Xbox OG and have basically better experience pretty much in everything.

The PS5 issues seem to occur when it goes in to rest mode.
So can't you just stop your PS5 going in to rest mode by going in to the Settings menu on the console, then navigate to Power Saving and then Set Time Until the PS5 Enters Rest Mode and select “Don’t Put in Rest Mode”.

The rest mode issue is with Spider-Man remastered, not miles morales.
There are issues with using Google Fibre on the PS5 when in rest mode as well
It's not even game specific, it's just that a lot of people are playing Spider-Man, or Miles Morales. It's almost definitely some sort of firmware issue. I've seen similar incidents with basically every other game folks are playing. In my case it happened coming back from rest mode while playing Borderlands 3.
So I'm not gonna play my PS5 for a few days while the info kinda builds up, and maybe we can get word on what's happening. I don't think it's just hardware issues either (like a bad batch), because of the consistently inconsistent nature of these similar accounts.
@@EdwardViaTomato ahh I see. I dont get my ps5 preorder until tomorrow but was just going off what I’ve heard. It’s definitely a software issue, no doubt - hope they issue a software update soon. Same thing with my Xbox Series X which has been perfect for me so far (save for the odd time where quick resume doesn’t work), so just counting myself lucky until those updates roll around. Definitely an exciting time for gaming though

Without a 4k< set, forget it.
This PS4 generation was the first time I owned a 4k TV. Upgraded from a Sony CRT. Had to have an HDMI HDfury adapter to play the PS4 on the CRT because it did not have any HDMI, only DVI.

ur spiderman game is fine, it's the spiderman original game that gave one guy a problem, however the crash only happens when u have it open and then putting it in rest mode, that means u have to close the game then put it in rest mode and u'll be fine. the game desperately needs a patch, because they're gonna cost sony millions in repairs if this is causing thousands to brick their consoles. i played spiderman and hit start and closed the game and i eventually let the game go in rest mode as it does if u don't play for a while. it's fine man just remember to closed the game before u put the console in rest, sleep, restart, or just turning it off. as for the controller, it's mind blowing, this controller is truely next generation. people need to feel this controller, it's fucking amazing! u feel the rocket fire blasting or the wind the sponge the ice the tension on the trigger. oh my god the lightning bolt in demon souls not only looked so damn cool and realistic but just feeling it and yes ur controller makes sounds too as u hit. this controller makes nintendo's switch look like a cheap piece of wire with vibrators taped to it for its "next gen" controllers. switch was absolute generic, nothing special, however the ps5 controllers are the future of gaming or making gaming feel more realistic, oh yea holding a bow or pulling the triggers just wow! thank u sony!!!! u guys keep innovating and making AAA games, while xbox doesn't care, they never make games.
I’ve been playing Spider-Man Miles Morales on PS5 and I’ve used rest mode, but always close the game first and it’s been fine👍🏼
I don't think the problems are related to Miles Morales. That's just what tons of people are playing. I had my console crash coming back from rest mode with Borderlands 3.
Luckily it repaired itself okay, as far as I know, but the issue is almost certainly firmware related. I've heard similar stories involving basically every other game people are playing right now.
