Figure out the disaster in the desert first Relocate the financial burden that is the Coyotes Anaheim Carolina Florida all lose a TON of money for the NHL...why does LA need two teams? Google the 2007 Ducks parade...I watched live the Honda Center was abandoned LOL Where are the fans?????? Quebec City is the last major population centre in Canada that doesn't have a team. Houston is the largest city in US without an NHL team. Salt Lake City has an owner who expressed interest in getting a team. Milwaukee, Portland, Hamilton, Cleveland, Kansas City all have NHL sized arenas (Hamilton is renovating currently). Who would do better the eighth most popular team in LA (the ducks) or the second most popular team in San Diego (who only has the Padres) and has a great attendance for the Gulls in AHL? Or who would do better a team in Buffalo - with 1.1 million people...or a team in Hamilton Ontario....with 6.2 million people in the Greater Toronto Region? The NHL needs to figure out it's failures...Miami failed, Anaheim failed, Phoenix failed.
I agree with your point that some teams will never win a championship if the league keeps expanding. Just look at college football. Alot of teams claim national titles from 1890-1970. But in the present BCS/CFP era 2000-now. Only like 12 teams have won a title. And college football has 133 div 1 teams. There are teams that will never ever see a National title. Which granted makes it more illusive and illustrious. But if the NHL keeps expanding. And with how hard it is to make playoffs or even make a deep run, and the physical and mental role it takes on the players. Some franchises aren't going to ever get a championship which will cause fans to lose interest. Let's look at the NFL. 32 teams, 12 of which have never won a super bowl. NHL has 32 teams, 11 haven't won a Stanley cup. Now obviously championships are earned not given. But it will lock franchises in mediocrity. The salary cap era is honestly good for the NHL. Maybe bad for the players but good for cracking down and stopping dynasty. And honestly more impressive when a dynasty does form. My Red Wings are still feeling the hurt from the salary cap all be it very minor.
@@GoalZoneCharlie I actually went to the Ducks v Wings game on December 7th. It's exactly like what coach lalonde said. Players would rather pass the puck to Patty Kane than take a shot on net themselves. I saw it with my own eyes at the game. It's crazy seeing the negative side to having a player like Kane on a team does to the players mentality. Good video tho you got yourself a subsciber.
@@EmperorPrinc3 Wow... I was wondering this myself in another video I did on Kane. So cool to hear your report when you were live in the field seeing it happen. And also, thank you, man. I'm lucky to have a legit and obviously knowledgeable hockey/sports fan watching my videos. Very much appreciated.
How would you feel about a 36 team NHL (which seems to be where we're headed) - or something like an NHL Europe?

Wow. This was a really good write-up. Excellent points, all around. What's your opinion of the Red Wings after that rough December?
