Great video. Thanks for the call out. I didn't even do the math on how much my little incident cost me from December until my 1 year hirer date this pass June. Definitely agree, the punishment is way to hard, they need to tone it down.
I agree, something like flat spotting a tire should not be treated the same as an accident. I'd call that an incident and your liability should only be the cost of the tires. Did your speed get lowered too? Don't answer that part unless you want to.
Millis is a great starter company but the safety thing is insane. I have heard of people losing their safety incentives over hitting a deer! How can you avoid that! I lost mine due to doing a u turn and my air line got pinched between the trailer and catwalk. I didn't come any where near to jack knifing but was told "I should have gotten out to check the lines before Makin the turn"! Who the hell does that? They have no concept that sometime, believe it or not, shit just happens. There doesn't have to be someone "at fault". It's incredibly petty imo. So my air lines that cost 400 bucks will cost me thousands in incentives.
I honestly don't think they really care about retaining people. They can just train someone new and will never end up paying people raises or bonuses. After you learn how much drivers are making at UPS, FEDEX, Estes, Old Dominion, etc., it's hard to fathom why you would want to stay driving OTR for less money and never being home. Millis is great about letting you do your thing. Nobody is pestering you and as long as you get it done, its all good. I think the dispatchers realize with the other stuff we deal with, they just let us get it done.

@@simp11 paid vacation
Tip: choose straight pay through training cuz you aren't eligible for the bonuses then switch to per diem (if you choose to) when you go solo. You'll make an extra $1k that way. You're welcome 😎
@@RushinTruckin Can you explain to me how that equals out? Is it based on the paid/unpaid vacation differential or are there other factors I have not realized?
@@simp11 after taxes, straight pay will pocket you slightly more so it's all in whether you want more cash out of you want the vacation and paid holidays
Your on Pace for making history as a 1st year driver. We need to push for you to be posted in the World record Books $56k-$57k 👍🏼
🙏🏻
🤣 check out Ryan's video. He's got me beat by a mile
But….. But….. You are hardly ever Home. Unless you have a wonderful wife, this probably will not last, the wife, or the job. Unless…. Unless you can get more home time.
4.5 years goin strong, bud! Wife is a travel Nurse now, too. Working on some changes, though, so we’ll see.
Fuck that ,you need to get out of there. 36 ain't shit magnum will start you at 40
Millis has 2 pay structures. Per diem and straight. I chose pd cuz they give you 3 weeks of paid vacation your 1st year and 2 weeks every subsequent year where straight pay gets ZERO paid vacation. Pd is paid 26 cpm taxed and 10 cpm untaxed. Straight pay starts at 43 cpm
Do you have a family? I hear its hard to have kids while being a trucker!!
Yes I do and yes it is. Lucky, mine were older (23 and 16) when I got into it. Unless I had no other options, I wouldn't have done it when they were younger
@@RushinTruckin thanks for the info. I have a 4 yr old and one on the way. I love the fact how its a career that i can take with me wherever i go. But ill never be home to see my kids. It a tough decision. I could really use that trucker money though.
And therein lies the age old dilemma... is the juice with the squeeze...
Only you and your significant other can answer that
Thanks so much

Great job Scott, 57,000/yes isn't enough to be working 60-70 hrs a week, then rolling into the abyss of Trenton or Richfield on a Friday and sitting till Monday, let's be serious, it's alot of hours per week and you drank the Millis kool-aid .it's a $15-18/hr gig once u truly do the math...I know I drove one of their trucks.... pretty yes..but a way to make great money...no....the school is the hook...the promise in class is the bait...I can work 60-70 hrs a week, but not sitting on my ass in a Millis truck not moving...if I hear the words freight is slow outta one more Millis dispatcher I'd puke...get serious and stop wasting your time! Accident types and costs...lets be serious, I'm an adult...if you don't want accidents types or costs, hire some professionals...Peace out I finally brightened up!
You're right on the money...comes out to $18.60 based on on duty hours. I'm exploring options
Hmm, not the greatest pay for the amount of time you put into it, but your new and getting experience.
I figured the first year is all about experience. Second year on, I can chase more $
That sucks loosing 5,000.00 because of a tire .You're still doing good for it being your first year. I thought Ryan, said once the damages are paid back out of the safety bonuses? you would get your safety bonus I think he broke his side mirror.
Yes, you're correct. At 120k miles driven a year, the safety bonus = 1 cpm or $1200 which, in this case, is what 2 tires cost
That is such BS. Good luck, with whatever you decide to do after your year is up. Me personally I would drop Millis, in a heartbeat if they did that to me after my year of course. I would be looking for a new job during my eleventh month.
Let me tell you men your wasting your time also your family time
Thanks for your opinion
@@RushinTruckin are you still with Millis? My son just started solo a couple weeks ago and is having a hard time dealing with all the waiting. His first pay as solo was $300 (he's regional) and he's had as much as 16 hours sitting around waiting for a load. He can't pay his bills with that.
A good/bad dispatcher can make a HUGE difference in a drivers experience
Wow that's an interesting pay breakdown and I'm thinking about becoming a trucker when I hear that break down I know every company has a different kind of pay structure that got my attention
If you have any further questions, feel free to shoot me an email (it's in the description)
That’s almost as many miles I had in 7 years on my Subaru 😂🤣 127,000 -
🤣😎👍🏼
From what I heard from a trucker that’s been doing it for nearly a decade they said there’s an unspoken rule that is if nobody saw it, no one got hurt and you can lie about it or even pay someone off and throw a few hundred at them to keep them quiet about an incident then do that exactly for reasons like this! I feel you if it was a non serious accident then that should not be such harsh repercussions on you.
