@@scotthardesty Wish it had a back up battery on it to control the theft deterrent system, when you need to lock it up, while you remove the battery to recharge it
I have a cargo ebike from a competitor (Letric.) I find that the long tail makes it difficult for me to balance. I need to always remember that it sticks out so far behind me. I liken it to driving a bus versus a car. I must make wider turns and always be aware of the weight of any cargo behind me on the bike. So this shorter tail, utility cargo bike from Aventon is appealing to me from a handling stanpoint.
Well glad I listened to you and waited because I was going to say I thought the long rack was pretty ugly, so I'm super glad they made this, definitely gonna place my order soon
Cool little bike. Going to show this to my wife. I actually wish more companies would make cargo bikes with a 26" front and 20" rear. I think that would be the best of both worlds. Love your reviews can't wait for the next one ....LOL
I don't really consider this a cargo bike due to its size. To me, this is more of a utility bike (which was something Aventon was missing) as its size compares to other utility bikes I have reviewed.
Hi Scott, That bike is loaded with tech and built very well. Strong frame with clean welds and beautiful paint. For those who like apps and safety features, it's a dream bike. So many anti theft features, it truly is a thief's worst nightmare. I know it's a theft deterrent but I do hope there is a way to unlock the battery through the display using a password also. This bike surprised me with its hill climbing abilities and with the sand test. It does make me wonder why they went with a 36v system instead of a 48 or 52v system. Maybe it has something to do with the two torque sensors. With the tires on this one, you wouldn't think it would be that good of an off-road bike but it does very well. Maybe it could use a longer travel on the front fork but it's okay for what this bike's intended use is. I really like the BMX handlebars and the suspension seat post. It's nice it also features a walk mode, I'm not sure if it has cruise control or not. I don't know how many bikes that have torque sensors also have a cruise feature, I'm sure some do. All and all a very nice bike built with quality and loaded with features for the price. App and tech riders , this is your bike. A free year of app service and only $20 a year after that is a great price for the amount of control options, safety features, information and theft deterrents this bike offers. There are not many, if any other bikes, that offer what this bike does. How many other bikes tell you how many miles are left in the battery pack? Thanks for the review Scott, Chicago looks great! Looks like you really enjoyed this one. Good job Aventon and thorough review as always Scott. Take care -----Steve.
Hi Steve, Yes, you can unlock the battery in the display as well. I guess I should have pointed that out. It doesn't have cruise control. Bikes with cruise control only work with throttle only so it doesn't matter if its a cadence or torque sensor. The only other bike I have noticed that tells me how much range I have left (that I can remember) is the Aventon Ramblas. As always, thanks for watching and commenting!
Scott, thanks for the in-depth, detailed review as we have come to expect from your channel. Do you think Aventon will upgrade the app on all bikes to include some of these new features?
I don't know. I feel that it takes more than a software update to make these bikes do more advance stuff. Although, I do see them incorporating this type of hardware/software in future models.
Get out of your Scott I kind of quit following eBikes because winter is coming so not being in the loop this popped up and I am like get out of here no way so I appreciate you and your video now. Looks like I might have another bike to look at for springtime great video by the way.
This could be a new contender for me and my wife's first e-bikes this spring, but who knows what else might come out by then! Scott, would this bike be OK for some light trail riding if the tires were swapped out? From your sand test, it looks like it might be a good beach rider at WA/OR coasts😀 I think as a newbie, I might prefer the slight throttle lag as opposed to a sudden jolt of power.
It's ready for light trails now. I don't think you would need to switch out the tires for some off road fun. I kept taking this bike off road and it handled great!
Its neat but that app-only battery unlock is a deal breaker for me. What if they stop supporting the app or you don't have/want your phone? Is there no other way to get it out?
2 new bikes this year?? I wonder/hope they’re gonna do an updated aventure soon too! Particularly the security features like these!! Hopefully before I pull the trigger on purchasing one lol
Aventon is second to none in my opinion. I truly LOVE mine and never thought I would be as happy as I am with it. The value for what you invest is such a bargain. Anyone on the fence trying to decide if they wanna pull the trigger or not, as someone that doesn’t have any affiliation or reason to push any brand, I would do it and I WILL for if my bike ever needs replacing.
That I do not know yet. I think the back rack does and I don't think the panniers would work as they are so long. I'm guessing maybe the front rack and the seat pad? I would ask Aventon directly.
I understand what you are saying, but this display is VERY nice. If they did that, it also frees up more space on the handlebar. Who knows? Every bike they put out just gets better and better. I bet the A3 will be even more impressive.
Does this bike ride considerably better than the Velotric Go 1? I bought the Go 1 and the front end seems unstable to me. My bike shop said this was normal and it has to do with the geometry. I'm also not crazy about the jerkiness of the cadence sensor. I come from many years of riding manual road and gravel bikes and the lack of ride quality and handling of the Go 1 has been disappointing. I like the design of the shorter cargo bikes and being able to jump on it to run errands, but I want to enjoy the ride and feel safe and I'm not finding that with the Go 1. Unfortunately there are no local shops near me that stock these for me to test ride. If there is a huge difference in these two bikes in overall ride quality I would like to replace my Go 1.
I do like the Abound SR much better than the Go 1.There is a huge difference between the two for sure. Let me put it this way. I have sold my Go 1 but I am keeping my Abound SR.

Some of the features are pretty good. However, I dont know if I like the amount of control Aventon has over your bike. They can see if you "unlocked" the bike, know your riding style, and etc. What I'm really looking for is a rear powered 750w to 1000w tricycle for my wife. The front motor only is not that powerful, even if the front motor is 750w to 1000w. You get a lot of burnout and skipping on the concrete. That might have been cool on a Big Wheel in the late 70's and early 80's, but not for a tricycle. I'm looking for a safe trike for my wife. 750w to 1000w rear wheel drive, nice display, right twist throttle, torque sensor, 203mm front and back disc brakes, Tektro or better brakes, and a good derailleur. The 7 and 8 speed derailleur selection is very minimal. Some of the choices for derailleur's are 30 years old. I also want to batteries for her. Grant you she won't be ablt to go to all the places I can go on my 1500w Ecell's Dual Star, but I want to ride with my wife. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I also just subbed to a "Strava" app. on a trial basis. Any other good apps that show more trails and are more bike friendly? Thank you for reading!

I love how the bike looks but for people thinking this goes 25 mph it will only do it for a few months Aventon does it to every bike it will send an update later on and change it to advertised 20 mph
It's pretty common for ebike companies to limit top speed to comply with regulations. Since they have left the top speed on the soltera 2, sinch 2 and the abound. I feel they leave this one at 25mph as well.
I can see this showing up on Louis Rossman's channel for being locked out of using your own Ebike because a company decides to shutdown their app or servers. No way in heck should anything you own have to connect to the internet or have an app as the only way to operate it. That's just putting an expiration date on it.
I think you lose only the cellular-dependent features such as remote lockout, geofencing, cloud-synced bike metrics if you let the subscription lapse. Applying firmware updates, locking the kickstand, unlocking the battery, adjusting bike settings, etc. are done via the phone app over Bluetooth or the bike’s display.
I agree Gary. I dont want to have to use an app to be able to remove my battery. Edit: saw on another review that you can remove it with the buttons that control the screen.
