Do you charge your full skid steer minimum when you spread stone? I have a three hour minimum, but feel bad to charge that spreading two loads of stone. I love your videos.
I charge full rate . Don’t feel bad at all . Your in it to make money. If you have to load a machine and take a day of your time ,fuel and wear on your equipment you should get what your worth . That’s how you get ahead. Mabe a half day rate but never by the hour. Also you can’t feel bad for people who would not feel bad for you paying for payments or repairs. Thanks for watching!
Was watching a documentary earlier here on YT called "The Yellow Tide of Cape Cod" about the leeching of nitrogen from septic tank liquids into the largely sand base Cape Cod ground and how the Cape building boom of the last 50yrs ...well, anyway you're likely aware of the issue. That bluestone crush looks great! And you do not talk too much! Very informative and interesting as always.
Yes the pond I used to swim in as a kid is all polluted now from all the houses they built around it . The septic is a problem and the lawn fertilizers . It’s sad . We use to have a blast fishing and swimming there . Now there’s signs everywhere saying you can’t even let your dog swim in there .Hey thanks for watching. Really appreciate it!
Yeah I’ve seen it come in here in green and one place used to have it in brownish red . Of course all these places are not on the Cape. We don’t have any quarry down here. It’s all trucked in . Thanks for watching.
Just curious, why do you always use your six wheeler to move your mini excavator and skid steer? Why not just use your pick up truck more fuel efficient?
Because my pickup truck is not weight rated to pull it. It’s an f150. And my old diesel 350 is a piece of crap with issues. You are right and I am planning on using the new to me 450 tool truck as soon as I finish rebuilding it . Soon I hope. Thanks for watching!
Where I am, the County does not and will not accept a driveway that does not flow water off the county road into the adjacent land. The bubble on a level has to show the slope going into the land off the County Road or the work (driveway entrance - that one needs a permit from County to install) will not be accepted. Your drive way would not be accepted. Just saying. At time frame 18:38 could not read what the hour meter now reads, how many hours have you put on the machine since you purchased it, what was it four years ago, would you purchase another Takeuchi and that size, what wait, you could make a new video with that reply.
I’m not sure how they would except us to pitch water up hill . We actually fixed the problem he was having with the sand washing into the road . The town love this material. They use it son everything so if they want they can pave a water berm at the end . They won’t though now that there is no dirt/silt washing. I don’t know Mabe 2k.or 3k Hrs sence I’ve owned it . I’m a diehard Takeuchi fan so unless it was a great deal I would definitely get another one . Thanks for watching
@@DirtBrute Still for an owner operator that is some impressive hours to put on the machine, what 500 per year, even with your son helping you. Given that you are doing everything else under the sun operating the business. You must have had some of your best years in business these last few years. Good for you.
@@LAKESIDEBOB1 yeah 2023 slow down a lot when interest rates climbed up. Most of our work was people talking out home equity loans to get things done. Now not so much .

The 3/4- here in central VT is usually crushed slate. Depending on the quarry it is green, gray, black, or red.

How many inches of gravel is sufficient
At least 4” of this particular material works good .
