    Loving the gs500 build videos. Just got my first ever bike earlier this year and have been working on my gs500 too. Glad to see people are still interested in these bikes and are making them their own. Can't wait to see what else you do!

    LED headlight is a real good thing. Just take care if you plan to drive at night because some LED are really too strong and poorly focused. It results in other driver blinded...
    In daylight however, headlights never shine too much

    I passed my full test in 94 on a GS500, jumped straight on a 600 Bandit, had 24 bikes in total since then, Bandit, Blackbird and Hornet have been the best bikes so far, throw them around but still comfy enough for the missus to enjoy a rideout as well.

      That's awesome! Maybe one day I will have the opportunity to ride as many bikes.

    Looks awesome, i am switcing to LED´s myself soon, the difference is stunning. Your bike looks cool! I have just bought a cheap Suzuki GS 450 and i wanna strip most of the original part of it and store it in my garage. Then find some interesting parts to make it look awesome, i am not sure yet what i will buy of parts, but i want it looking bad and cool, haha...

    The windscreen does serve a purpose though, stops you having to try and wash those dead bugs from around the clocks/cables etc.

      @simiangimp2282 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pushes some of the wind away or over your chest, too. Not as efficient as full, but at least it's something.

    • @will4may175
      @will4may175 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simiangimp2282 tbh I fitted a small screen on my Hornet 600 but never noticed any difference other than not needing to scrub the chrome clocks, but if it works for you it's a bonus.
      I had a full screen on my Blackbird which still let wind hit the chest, I got a double bubble which cured that.

    Hey could you explain why you drilled something on the back? Suppose I didn’t want the extra wires, could I just plug this in the headlight and not worry?

    • @WidgeTheWiz
      @WidgeTheWiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to drill some holes to mount the headlight to the frame. You can just plug in the headlight and the low/high beam will work but the halo on the outside will not.

  • @radostinivanov2428
    @radostinivanov2428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's cool but can you make only angel eye shine when you turn on day light?
    (first position) then when you turn on low beam to go all, and last one higt beam?

    • @WidgeTheWiz
      @WidgeTheWiz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would require a little more wiring and the addition of another switch but yes it is possible. One thing that is cool that I learned after this install is that the angel eye will turn on when you have the key set all the way to the left to turn the parking lights on.

    Hey bud, how has this been holding up? I was thinking to get it some time in the summer and get the bike ready for the winter when I actually need it. Or if the bulb blows then I will. Do you think it's reliable or even is there a way to change the main light bulb if it goes? would be a waste to change the whole thing for 1 of the lights going out. I will probably message you as well on instagram

    Would you know what could be wrong if the indicators weren't working I bought new indicators and for mine and I can't seem to get them working. I don't know if there is a fuse box on them or a relay any help would be appreciated

    • @WidgeTheWiz
      @WidgeTheWiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would check to see if you are getting power to the end of the line that connects to your new indicators. Should be about 12v on your multimeter when you have the indicator flashing. If you get that then something is wrong with the indicators you got. Else check further up the line for a fuse or signal generator that is blown.

    Like the vids fella, keep them coming! I’ve recently picked up a 1992 GS500E as a winter hack over here in the UK and am loving it. Added a couple of tweeks already, like heated grips, handguards, rack and top box. Want to improve the visibility hence viewing this. Biggest issue will be finding a reliable light unit either over here or off the internet. Where did you get yours? Thanks. Edd.

    • @WidgeTheWiz
      @WidgeTheWiz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the support mate! I have linked the headlight in the description if you want to pick one up yourself. Side note on that website check to see if there is one with mounting points already, should save you some time and labor. Good luck!

    • @3647Edd
      @3647Edd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WidgeTheWiz So how’s that headlight holding up fella? I’m thinking about getting one soon. Has the cable -tying mounting held up? What caused you to have to modify the back of the light unit? Or was it just to fix it to the ring?

    • @WidgeTheWiz
      @WidgeTheWiz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3647Edd the light is holding up well, and you are right I modified the back just to attach it to the outer housing. You could also make your own brackets using thin garage door hanger metal and JB Weld. I had to double layer the weather stripping to get it to grip the headlight firmly enough to not move. Still works great!

    • @3647Edd
      @3647Edd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WidgeTheWiz Thanks fella. The standard light is pretty good to be honest with a decent throw of light for an older bike. Mine’s a 1994. I just fancy a better, newer look! You mention indicator marker, does it wire up to them as well?
      Keep the vids coming 👍🍺👍👍

    • @WidgeTheWiz
      @WidgeTheWiz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@3647Edd Yeah I'm not sure exactly how to wire it up but it will turn yellow with the turn signals if you wire it up correctly. Might have to splice the positive wire from the turn signals to the positive wire for the halo light

      I am not sure about the older GS Models. To be honest this lamp wasn't compatible with my bike I had to make some custom brackets. I would say it is doable, you just need to find a way to mount it to you bike.

      Sure. In the mean time here is a wiring diagram. Look at the headlight on the center left and sidelight (sidelight powers the angel eye). The colors are correct here and are what were used in this build.

    And stop calling every "× shaped screw " a "Philips" screw : on old Japanese motorbikes those are actually "JIS" screws and using a "Phillips " screwdriver is BAD.
    If you want to save those screws from damage, you should rather afford a set of JIS screwdrivers.
