For many athletes, the daily grind of practice can feel like an endless, monotonous cycle. The pressure to perform, the repetitive drills, and the constant push to improve can lead to burnout and boredom. But what if there was a secret hack that elite athletes use to make going all in not just effective, but surprisingly enjoyable?
Meet Steph Curry, the greatest 3-point shooter in basketball history. How did he get there? Was it just about grinding out thousands of shots week after week like a robot? No. Behind Curry’s incredible success lies a practice method that transforms the grind into something that, for sure, is hard work, but doesn’t end up feeling like it.
In this video, I’ll share this practice method and how every athlete, no matter their sport, can apply it to their game. If you’re experiencing a practice plateau, then this is the video for you.
🔹 Here’s what we’ll cover:
Deliberate Play: Transform your practice with focused, enjoyable elements that keep you engaged.
Steph Curry's Journey: How Curry used fun and innovative drills to become the top 3-point shooter.
5 Principles of Deliberate Play:
1) Always Have Something to Beat: Set proximal goals to keep practice challenging.
2) Prioritize Variety: Keep things fresh with new drills and methods.
3) Add Spontaneity: Use dice or coins to introduce unpredictability.
4) Role Play: Imagine high-stakes scenarios to enhance focus and urgency.
5) Ask Questions: Reflect regularly to find ways to make practice more enjoyable.
🔹 Special Mentions:
Adam Grant’s Book “Hidden Potential”: This video is inspired by an awesome chapter in this book. Highly recommended!

Trying something new or different is the key to enjoying anything in life, repetitiveness gets boring very quickly.
Another masterpiece 🏆💯

Got your e book yesterday and it was an instant game changer for me. Even though I missed a lot of chances, I forgot about them and I scored 11 in 4 games. Thanks Sam.

Amazing video! Thanks so much for this advice, I've been missing this from my life recently, and really thought that I needed to adopt the kobe or cristiano machine mentality to do well. After watching this i've realized that the very thing that garnered the most improvements as a kid is what i've been neglecting
Glad it was helpful

Some people think Elite Pros train like David Goggins 7 days on 7
@@Lowrey190 well, they'd be wrong 😅
Elite pros spend a crazy amount of time resting and recovering
@@SamMartinPeakPerformance Yeah, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lebron James had crazy schedules but they give the right amount of recovery and resting for reaching a 20 year career span of longevity at the top level
Most of the time when I’m training i’m in team training where I have no control over the drills we do
