The group is called Cock Robin. They were American and were very popular across Europe. Their hit " The Promise You Made" is another really lovely song, give it a listen another time. 😊
This group was not a joke! As you guys saw the lead singer's voice is stunning. Wait until you hear, "The Promise You Made". It'll simply blow your mind.
One of the under-rated songs from the 80's. I think the video hurt because the lead singer's gestures, etc were odd. More from this group include 'Thought You Were on My Side' and 'The Promise You Made.' PS - The lyric is "When your heart is weak I'm going to pick the lock on it."
Cock Robin is not the male singer's name, his name is Peter Kingbery, the band is called Cock Robin and the female lead is Anna Lacazio, Cock Robin was originally together from 1982 to 1990,then from 2006 to the present.
You made my day Jay and Amber! The most under rated band in the 80s. Should have been much bigger than they were. They're great rabbit hole to chase down. Check out "Thought you were on my Side" and "The Promise you Made"
So glad you hit on this one. One of my favorite songs! 'When your heart is weak, I'm gonna pick the lock on it'. In other words, I am waiting for my turn to be the person for you and 'prove myself worthy'.
Thanks a lot, love this band, Peter Kingsbery's voice is so impressive and moving. After the band split in 1990, he pursued a solo career in France, where he settled. He speaks fluent French and is much more famous in France than he is in his native US. He recorded a huge album with great songs sung in French.
Thank you for reacting to this song. One of my all time favourites. That chorus Amber mentioned was 'Cause when your heart is weak I'm gonna pick the lock on it My fingertips won't fail me No matter what you do The love you cannot see yet Is about to witness a dawning And you can twist and turn But you won't get loose Oh no.
Well, one of my all time favorite songs. This and "The Promise You Made" were their biggest hits. I fell in love with Anna LaCazio the first time I saw this video and could watch it over and over just to see her. Keep up the good work. And, thank you.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 So is mine 😊 Love both the song and the video. She looks so gorgeous in it 😍 My other favorite from her is The Part That I Miss. Also love her solo album too.
A COCK ROBIN is just a male robin, as in the bird. They became very popular with their song “the promise you made” which is, to me , their best song. Love their music.
When Your Heart Is Weak by Cock Robin this was there only Billboard hit it peaked at #35 and was on the chart for a total of 16 weeks and it charted on June 15, 1985, and i have this album i bought it when i heard the song i love this song
Cock Robin is one of my favorite 80’s bands! ❤️🎶🎸 Another band from the 80’s you guys might want to check out is Level 42 - I love their sound! ❤ This is my favorite Level 42 song 👇🏻 th-cam.com/video/qf6LjpEgNsQ/w-d-xo.html
He's not putting a lock on their heart he's picking it, unlocking, their heart. Also they have a much later song called Worlds Apart that's worth listening to. Thanks for covering this though, I almost never hear anyone talk about Cock Robin.
So glad you guys liked the song. I discovered this song on a UHF channel called U68. It was an alternative to MTV. I was working a job I didn’t like and I would go home and hope they’d play this song. It really cheered me up.
This was Cock Robin's ONLY charted single in the US (hitting #35), but they had additional hits in Europe - an unusual turn of events, given that they were an American band. Their biggest worldwide hit was "The Promise You Made". Others were "Just Around the Corner", "The Biggest Fool of All", and "Thought You Were On My Side". Peter Kingsbery is the lead vocalist (born in Austin, TX!). PS: The singers for Tears For Fears are Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith (Roland is the one with the longer hair). I would also like to recommend some other great 80s tunes by lesser-known bands: "The Promise" by When In Rome, "The Captain of Her Heart" by Double, and "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" by Information Society.
Holly shit, thankyou so much for reacting to them. It's about time they get some recognition in the US, their home country. They where huge in Europe (and a lot of others countries) in the 80´s, and definitely one of my favorite 80's bands. I don't think there is one song by them i don't like, at least from the 3 first albums. My favorite of all time by them is Just Around The Corner. So many great songs.... Just Around The Corner The Promise You Made The Biggest Fool Of All El Norte When Your Heart Is Week Thought You Where On My Side Worlds Apart Win Or Loose ... I could go on, and on... BTW, never understood that problem Americans have with the name.... really... I've been listening to them since 1985, and not once did i made any kind of "naughty" connections with their name. They are named after an old nursery rhyme "Who Killed Cock Robin?"
If you haven't heard of the literary/nursery rhyme character Cock Robin, go slap your Junior high literature teacher. This is who the band took it's name from. Amber, the word on the lyric is "gonna PICK the lock on it", meaning he was going to pick the lock on her heart. Bassist Peter Kingsbury and keyboardist Ana LaCazio handled lead vocals until they disbanded in 1990. Like a lot of "unheard of" American acts, CR was and still is very popular in Europe. They released two more singles from their first album, The Promise That You Made and I Thought You Were On My Side. Neither reached the critical popularity as "Heart"but were well accepted by their fan base. In 1987 they released their follow up album, After Here Through Midland and two singles, Just Around The Corner and The Biggest Fool Of All.
When I came with my parents to Portugal. Three years after that they were always playing on the radio. I know the lyrics of some songs since then. I really don't know why their own country was shamelessly underating them.
Tex-Mex meets 80's pop (lead guitar formerly of Tears for Fears) They had over a dozen minor hits. Their name refers to a children's poem from the late 1700's, and onward, named "Who Killed Cock Robin?" Some versions had hundreds of verses. I have loved their music for over 30 years.
Am I the only person who has heard of Cock Robin. Great band from the mid 80's. Have a listen to another great song called Just around the corner from their second album, you won't be disappointed!
Cock Robin are/were (?) an American duo/group who are/were bigger in Europe, espesh Germany...I know they have at least 3 albums & lead singer Peter Kingsberry made some solo records...yep, great emotional singer he is...more of a European sound than an American one...
I can not believe this song made it's way to you!!! This is sacred, secret music to me. Memories of swaying and spinning to this on a dance floor at 4am in the late 80s....ahhhh. Try Talk Talk and their song It's My Life (Live at Montreux 1986).
The Promise You Made was the first song I heard by Cock Robin. Peter's vocals are so emotional. Anna is his equal though she's silent in this song. Most of all I want to say that their second album "After Here Through Midland" is what I consider to be a perfect album. Please continue with group-- you'll be shaken!
What a surprise to see Cock Robin ! To be honest, I didn't expect it. For some unknown reasons, this band was more popular in Europe than in the USA. Besides "When Your Heart Is Weak", Cock Robin had hits like "The Promise You Made" (already mentioned by a lot of people) and "Just Around The Corner".
Listen to that great voice of Peter, Anna LaCazio and the epic music of Cock Robin! Can't understand why so much (most americans) are unwilling to recognize or ignore the talent and the wonderful soud of the band. It's a shame. They are soooo much underrated!! By the way, the band name is inspired by the 35's Disney cartoon movie 'who killed cock robin?' Today a well known nursery rhyme 🤷
Guys, Cock Robin is the name of the band, not the singer. His name is Peter Kingsbery. When Your Heart is Weak was the only hit they had in the US (kind of funny because they're from Los Angeles), but here in Europe they had at least four other hits: The Promise You Made, Thought You Were on My Side, Just Around the Corner and The Biggest Fool of All. El Norte is another great song of them.
I've suggested this song a couple times in the past. The lyric is: 'When your heart is Weak, Gonna PICK a Lock on It'. Not creepy to me, but I WAS going to say 'Better forget getting rid of me' was a little creepy. But I LOVE the song, and really love hearing it once in a while. Their only top 40 hit, and the DID play it on Johnny Carson Show once, which I recall watching. The cute young lady dancing is a band member, not just added for effect.
Wow ! I’m sooo glad you’re listening to this. It was one of my favorites as a teen but I always thought I was one of the very few people who liked it ! I remember the distinctive bass line
It's about being stuck in the friend zone, and he is going to show her how much he truly loves her when she needs someone to turn to....he'll be there. Check out "Biggest fool of all " if you really want to hear Peter Kingsbury vocal chops. Very underrated band in America, they were huge in Europe, especially France.😊
You know, this band only got to #35 in the USA, with this song, BUT I was a fan of all of Cock Robin's albums from the first time I heard it. Also, lead singer, Peter Kingsbery, had some amazing solo work. Check out more Cock Robin and Peter's song "Only the Very Best" - such a powerful vocal performance!
I loved this song back in 1985, managed to record it on a cassette tape, but never knew the name of the band. Until the Internet. Anna LaCazio, the beautiful, exotic looking lady in the video is a member of the band. Check out "Remember The Promise You Made" to hear her gorgeous voice.
Cock Robin one of my fav 80s band underrated , lot of success in Europe , In France , with many hits like : The promise you made , Straighter line , Just around the corner etc and listen the singer in this amazing song : Only the very best
Peter Kingsbury has an amazing voice, and he also played the bass in that song. He’s still great. I absolutely love that song. A lot of the video was done at Joshua Tree National park, one scene in the Hidden Valley picnic area, the other at a house (Jackrabbit Homestead home) close to the northern entrance of the park. Kingsbury is multi instrumental. People think this song is about a stalker, but it’s not, it’s just saying that when this girl is about to give up on love, this man is going to prove to her that he’s not going to let that happen.
"just around the corner" breaks my heart even after almost 40 years. give it a go, no one else has. it happens to be one of the few that got airplay by these guys back in the day. it can tear your heart out. thanks!
Alright my babies.... I've never heard of this artist. He has his own original sound and the song was good. Very cool reaction, Rob Squad ‼️💯🔥🎼🎶🎤🥁🎸🎹😎👍🏼😊
I'm thrilled you found this one. Heres a few more. The Breakfast Club-Right On Track, Marillion-Kayleigh, Level 42-Its Over, Men at Work-Overkill, Fishbone-Problems Arise. Also Siouxsie & The Banshees-Peek a Boo.
Wow finally!!! This are the next CR songs to react to in order 😉 trust me The promise you made Just around the corner Thouth you were on my side At this point I think you should react to PREFAB SPROUT my favorite band of the 80s. It's a band of at least 20 songs to react to but "Cars and girls" is a good one to start 👌👌👌
Cock Robin is an American band that had more success in Europe than in the US. Check out "The Promise You Made" featuring vocals from both Peter Kingsbery and Anna LaCazio. Note the lyrics if you know it was sometimes played as a wedding song. Lol
This song was Cock Robin's one and only Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the summer of 1985. The song did peaked at the #35 spot. Some music critics considered this song one of the first alternative songs to appeared on the Billboard Top 40 chart in the 1980s. A terrific song indeed. By the way, Cock Robin is the name of the group.
Please react to more EmmyLou Harris!!!❤❤❤ "To Daddy", "Boulder To Birmingham", "Two More Bottles of Wine", "Tulsa Queen", "Red Dirt Girl", "Tougher Than the Rest", "Pancho and Lefty", "C'est La Vie", "Easy From Now On", and "One of These Days"...❤❤❤❤
Peter Kingsbery (that's his name) also recorded the english version of a french musical song of the '80s which is considered one of the most difficult song to sing. Check out "Only the very best". I cry each time I hear it!
Just because you are ignorant to their music in the 80's, and didn't heard of them because you are probably American, doesn't mean that they are not well known or successful in the 80's. Go and ask ANY European 80's kid if they know or heard of Cock Robin before, and see what the reply is.... They are top tier 80's music
@@conan5885 many others have said the same thing, yet you single me out to personally insult, why? Btw they formed in America and couldn't make it and apparently were not much more successful over in England
Never heard of them, and frankly for me I’d be changing the station to something more mainstream rock at that time. Glad there are people this suits but for me it’s a channel changer..😎🍺
Yes, Cock Robin is a weird name but it is named after a 17th-century story titled "The Marriage of Cock Robin and Jenny Wren". I believe that the name of the band was what made them fail in their home country (USA), but they were big in Europe. You should react to "The Promise You Made", in that Anna Lacazio singing (in this one she just dances).

Alright my babies.... I've never heard of this artist. He has his own original sound and the song was good. Very cool reaction, Rob Squad ‼️💯🔥🎼🎶🎤🥁🎸🎹😎👍🏼😊
Not creepy. He's been sent to the "friend zone." He's waiting to make his move.
New group for me which is great; but loved your reaction.
This are the next CR songs to react to in order 😉 trust me
The promise you made
Just around the corner
Thouth you were on my side
At this point I think you should react to PREFAB SPROUT my favorite band of the 80s.
Has it really come to this? I'm 61 yrs old and have NEVER in my life heard that song. Y'all deserve better suggestions than that.
I wonder who gave it to them. I go through many comments and have never seen it before
@@sparkyth67 Probably someone not ignorant and with great taste in music
@@conan5885 so grown up and mature.
Desde Uruguay les recomiendo just araund the corner
Never heard of them, and frankly for me I’d be changing the station to something more mainstream rock at that time. Glad there are people this suits but for me it’s a channel changer..😎🍺
Love love this song!!
Very nice! Love the kiss t shirt man!
My favourite band since 1974. Love those Thin Lizzy shirts too! Been loving them since1971!!🤟🤟🤟🤟
