Thank you for sending the holeless heart make for me to see the obsidian are on a strand so lots to play with but I have agate slices (yes! I seem to have become a stash hoarder in a two year covid period lol!) do you have another design fo those some have a bale hole.?
This wire is coated to look that golden color, so you do not need to clean it. But because it is a coating there is a risk because if the coating is scratched off there is no way to restore it.

You can try but I think it'd be too thick if you are using 24 round. If you have half round in 24 that'd be much thinner and would work
