My Lt1000 unlocks and rolls fine, but during running sometimes the drive hesitates then catches again, more noticeable after going down hills. Great procedure, easy to understand.
Thank you! I didn’t need to remove anything, it seems that one of the springs was just jammed up. I was attempting to remove the cotter pin and something jumped. Not sure what was stuck, but I got up and tested the roll, lib! Works just fine now! Craftsman 2008 YS4500
Thanks for the video. I highly recommend taking off the rear tire in front of the brake assembly. It only takes a couple of minutes to remove the tire, and then everything is clearly in front of you.
let's put a big vent hole in the middle of the hood for the rain can rust and get in the carburator.... I used great stuff fome to seal it off worked great no more water in the carburator
I have the exact same Craftsman riding mower with the same problem. Hopefully, this is the actual issue and the same repair will get it back from being locked up. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
@@jeffslawnmowerrepairandservice I'll try to mess with it finally later today. The other issue I've had is that it dies when it is put into gear which is why I've been procrastinatig for so long.🥴
Mine is locked up also but mine has a hard thick coat hanger type rod that if I pull out it's suppose to be easy to push and if it's pushed in you cant move the mower. I pull it out and cant move the mower by hand , the brake works good while operating the mower. Any tips on that? I see you have no rod on yours. Great video by the way, instead I would just remove the wheel to make it easier to get to the brake mechanism. Thanks you !
1:18 you are missing your freewheel rod that protrudes out that keyhole shape on the left, as the pictures show. This rod disengages the transmission to roll the machine. Problem is, this rod is so thin, it bends when pushing it back in and not re-engage the transmission (my issue).
Thank you I got em done with your help. If i had not wiggled the rotor and the back pad fell out I would have been finished a lot sooner!' I have a Husqvarna and the trans disengage rod prevented me from removing the rotor. It was a bitch to get back in.
i have what looks like the exact machine but there is no release rod anywhere and i cannot find one?? i would really like to be able to push it around! any info appreciated
Maybe try to take off the back panel (only 4 bolts) and find the lever on the transmission. The rod/wire that goes to it and comes out the back may be missing.
Mine only locks up when the engine is not running, but once I put the transmission in any gear it unlocks, but then locks up when it sits for a few. Same issue you think?
I do not have a brake rotor that i can locate, there seems to be a bulge in the transmission with disks i can feel from underneath but i cant locate any sort of caliper
i have an issue with my simplicity 6512.5. Forword gear has tons of power, but refuses to go into reverse and dont know if its a coincidence or not but motor sortof bogs down...and wont go into neutral...... but strangest part is when i manually pull the tab under the seat it will only free roll FORWORD... backwords it still feels like its in gear.....and will not move. Cannot for the life of me figure it out
@jeffslawnmowerrepairandservice i actually figured it out and it was pretty stupid... if you ask me. Lol , the spring under the seat for neutral was connected to the correct thing BUT the bolt going into the transmission was SO TIGHT only the elbow peace of the mechanism would swivel and NOT the release thing going INTO the tranny. So crisis averted, sombody must have saw a "lose" bolt and reemed on it. thought i was going to need a new rear end. Glad i dint. This thing has 690 hours and it is all original and CLEAN very very clean.
You really should clean your mower perodically with a blower or compressed air to remove all the old grass from the deck and undercarraige. Then clean it with a pressure washer before you put it away for the season. I wash mine off with a pressure washer every so often before I lubricate all the moving parts underneath. You need to take care of your equipment just like your car or you end up with problems like this.
Sometimes I try to save time and I am a numbnutz. LOL, also I have had problems with wheels not coming off and being rusted ion so I just try not to go there...
I got my brakes unlocked but when I push my lever to make the mower go forward or backward it makes a whining noise and doesn’t go anywhere. What could this be?
I just bought a used Bolens riding lawnmower. My breaks are locked up. This video is real helpful to get my lawnmower to roll freely again in neutral.
Glad it helped

Try changing the fluid in your transmission. It really made a difference for me.
That rooster is adorable and funny 😄
We have a ton of chickens and we run a incubator year round, keep and give them away 😊😊😊
His name is Chunk E. Chicken
Thank you so much for this video! Got my stuck tractor rolling into the workshop!
Awesome!

One of the pins was probably stuck
Jeff thanks for your help and showing us how to do it. 👊
Glad it helped, Thanks for watching!
Great video, just acquired an lt1000 I can roll it forward all day long but not backwards. I am going to give this a try and see if it helps
Did it work?
Thanks for a great video, now I Can not wait to do this on my LT2000 🙏
Thanks friend! You can do it
Thank you sir, have a great day!
Thanks friend!

Great video...helped me repair my LT1000! Thanks
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!

Nice video!!!
Would it be easier to remove that read wheel to get to the brake?
yes it would make it easier IF the wheel comes off, sometimes they are rusted on.

It could still be the brake mechanism binding up causing that issue

yes, some of those rods are too thin and get bent
A beed blast really clean these up good 😊
If I jack up the rear end so the tires are off the ground, both tires spin freely, just in opposite directions.
normal
Thanks for the video
Thanks I hope it helped

Thanks first mow of tge year something always happens but this time it had at los I thought for sure the thrans was out lol
Happy it helped!
I found a real engine ride on started up first pull but back wheels are locked .. you think this is the issue?
quite possibly
I do not have a brake rotor that i can locate, there seems to be a bulge in the transmission with disks i can feel from underneath but i cant locate any sort of caliper
Usually happens after setting up all winter and don’t leave parking brake on all winter
EXACTLY why I’m here. My spare mower was locked up after this winter and I couldn’t figure out why, I guarantee this is what it is.
Could you use something other than gas for cleaning with?
Yea but it’s not as quick or as good
Easier to unbolt the wheel and remove to adjust I've found out
Yes good tip!
i was just thinking it would be easier to get in there if you just removed that one wheel first.
Just roll it up into a doobie . Always a great tip
LOL!
@@jeffslawnmowerrepairandservice l wrap around a pencil, and cordless drill. I'll be doing it tomorrow! Thanks man!

Check for loose bolts at the brake caliper. Or perhaps a wrong drive belt was installed

Directions unclear, ended up smoking a sandpaper doob and now my throat is very scratchy
LOL!
Best to just use hammer and tap on bolts to help free them up and spray with liquid wrench
Yes, that can help break it loose sometimes
I’ve even used air hammer 😊
Work smart not hard as it's been said 😅
Power wash all those parts then soak them in evaporust. They will look brand new
good tip
This is not always the problem when they won't roll. Sometimes its the components of the trans axle such as a broken spring etc..
Ok Pa
Haha!
First thing this boil egg brainers do is grab lawnmower from the sit to try to push it

Why didn't you take off the tire, way more room.

It could be your Transmission bad oil or low on oil
What a HACKER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"ol skool"
Where are your safety glasses?
