Thank you. I had to watch 9 other videos that were not even close. Yours is top notch. My mower finally fixed. Rear end was locked so badly my brother could even get rotation even after chaining and dragging 40mph tires screaming. If I wasn't steering it woulda surely flipped. "Bastard" went FASTER. Many takeaways there.
Thanks this helped me out alot I thought was along to have to place the rear end and the mower isn't worth what that cost but this fixed it up so thank you.
I have 2 LT 2000 riding lawn mower Jeff video help me figure what going on with my brake 1 I got giving to me doesn't have brakes I ride it daily with no brakes until I get new brakes pads I just want to thank Jeff for his videos
you can chuck those pins in a drill , hold a file or sandpaper to them , and easily clean one end at a time . if pads are almost worn out , you can make shims from pieces of hacksaw blades to get more life from them .
Where is your rod that sticks out of the back end to release the tranny , beginning of the video it's not there. You have to pull mine out ( the rod ) to push it by hand . Plus if you took off the right rear tire the parts are easier to get at, but thanks for the video, didnt even know a brake pad was back there. Thanks!
Thanks for your videos! Sure would be nice adding the arrow in those fat head areas to see😂 Do you know what MFG. Makes ariens/husqvarna/poulan plastic hydraulstatic rear ends thanks again Pete
That exactly why I purchased an Ultrasonic cleaner for. It's a pain to sit there and spend time trying to clean small parts when it's easier to throw them in the Ultrasonic cleaner and let it do the job while I go have a cup of coffee or work on something else. I picked up a rear engine Ariens riding mower for $35 and that was the only thing wrong with it. The owner thought the transmission failed. We had to pick it up in the rear to load it because the rear wheels were locked up. It was just the brake locked up. The thing was like new otherwize. I used it for 2 years, then sold it.
Hey i'm a 70 year old gentleman trying to figure out whats going on with my daughter's mower. Please help! She has a craftsman 944.602600, 24 inch. When she puts it in drive it'll drive for a bit, then it'll start going backward all of a sudden while the lever is physically still in drive. And sometimes it doesn't even move when you put it in gear. Do you know what the issue is? Much appreciated!
Very true but hauling a heavy jack/jack stand outback into the junkyard and hopefully the tire comes off easily... sometimes the extra step is the best step but that sounds like more work to me! LOL!
@@JeffsLittleEngineService yes, thank you, I did the test with the lower rod and it didn't do any extra movement, just ordered and looking forward to opening up an engine for the first time
I know this is probably after you’ve already replaced the cam. I just learned this trick recently while trying to crank with a weak battery. Decrease the valve lash on the intake by .001, say from .004 to .003, and the engine will be much easier to turn over. The only caveat I read about was less power for things like going uphill, although I haven’t had a chance to test that out yet. Only the intake adjustment, mind you, not the exhaust.
Why not take a couple of minutes and move the back plate and the wheel and you have an easy job... this took you a lot longer than it should have. Very reassembly.............
Good tips! Can be an easier job that way for sure, if you can get the wheel off. Rear wheels are often rusted on and difficult to remove so I guess I have learned that it takes more time to jack it up to see if I can remove the wheel than to just go around it.

Nice work on those brakes Jeff I didn't know that some of the hydrostatic had a brake pad caliber like that now I do for future reference 👍
Great idea to do that the easiest way possible there young man 👍😎
Thanks friend!👍 I always try for a cheap and easy fix first!
Nice, that works on the regular transaxle also!😎👍

...great DIY video, Jeff.....video and audio quality outstanding.....question: when storing the mower, is it best to leave brake engaged or not?.... 🙂
probably not engaged would be my opinion
Thanks for your videos!

removing the rear wheel makes this so much easier
indeed. I have had problems before getting rear wheels off due to rust, so I often just do it this way.

I was hoping for a video about how to fix / replace the hydrostatic transmission... mine rolls just just fine....
If you remove the back cover, can you make this repair without removing the mower deck?
yes, but removing the wheel gives you the most room usually.
@@JeffsLittleEngineService thanks! As soon as I drag it out of the garden, the brakes will be fixed.

You're in!
Nice video, but removing the tire with one clip would of made your job so much easier.

adjusted the valves on troy bilt 17.5 hp but the cylinder is still too tight in some places to crank, anyone had this problem? thanks
Most likely it is the compression release mechanism on the cam. It will need a new cam.

Don’t leave the parking brake on and let it set very long 😊
good tip
would have been easier if you removed tire
yes much....
Rolling sandpaper in to a doobie. LOL. They ain't related but they Doobie Brothers.

Next time save yourself some time and pull the tire off. Lots of room then,,,,,,,,
