I think what makes him creepy for me is the fact there's no effects involved- it's natural. No CGI, no special effect make up. I know he had cancer at the time, but damn, he still gave one Hell of a performance.
Oh my god, this is the reason it took so long for me to sleep by myself in my own room. 10 yrs old before I got over it, and I'm going to sleep with the lights on tonight. If I even do fall asleep. I'm thinking about staying awake till 8 am and then fall asleep when the sun is out. I mean that was just straight up scary. No shit! I mean menacing. There's no reason for anything to be that horrifying lmao
Same mom made me and my sister watch this with her when we were kids she was drunk and said come on guys let's watch a scary movie when I watched the first one I felt like I was in hell I forgot all about this movie growing up 3 weeks later I remembered it when I was sleeping I dreamed about it
He was dying of cancer when he filmed this, he new he only had months to live and this would be his last acting part, I feel he gave a great performance.
I read about the actor and how he was dying. You can see the passion that he put into this part and it's the saving grace of this movie. I just wish that he could have done more -- it's truly chilling stuff.
February 10, 2018--- Julian Beck plays Henry Kane...Henry Kane is awesome... I liked him...awesome character!... R.I.P... Loved Julian Beck....missed him..
I remember watching the making of this and the actor who played Henry Cane was actually dying at the time he was filming this, so they all believed that he delivered that line best because he knew his own fate. Kind of sad when you think about it now but honestly he left his mark on cinema history. Good work sir. :)
I can’t believe our parents allowed us to watch this movie.. until this day, I can’t have a tv in my bedroom....however I see this character type every time I’m on a nyc subway
I had recurring nightmares of rev Kane as a kid from this movie, but I couldn't recall what movie the scene was from. I just found it just now like 30 years later. Crazy
I had heard also that this was a man dying of cancer.Whether true or false this was a truly disturbing individual in Poltergeist 2,and portrayed with such amazing conviction
I grew up thinking it was completely normal to have Night-terrors about the ReV. This guy haunted my dreams growing up.., and even now -I'm 33- he may not haunt my dreams, but he haunts my memories. He's almost as scary as the old Woman in CloakAnDagger....
Julian Beck died of stomach cancer either during or shortly after filming this movie. Hollywood didn't need to make him look that gaunt. It's a shame; he was a talented actor.
This was frightening, looking at Kane when I first saw the film a couple of years ago. I remember seeing it on tv during a Halloween movie marathon, my mother in the kitchen who could see as she moved about making food. She told me to turn the channel once Kane appeared on screen. I asked why, she said, "Reminds me of the grim reaper. Looks like the priest that came in to read grandpa his last rites." I asked what happened, she said, "I can't look at him. It brings back those memories and it was really frightening." I can see why.
Julian Beck. He was terminal with cancer at the time -- I believe he died about 6 weeks after filming wrapped. I doubt if much makeup was necessary. Truly frightening stuff.
Wasn't the man dying of cancer while he was acting this? Quite brilliant here, the only good/scary part of this shitty movie. I mean, he nailed it. RIP
Weird knowing at least one person died shortly after filming each movie. The girl that played carol Ann's sister was murdered by ex bf before first one went in theaters, then this guy died of stomach cancer shortly after, then Heather died shortly after in a suffering way.
Imagine seeing this guy in the middle of a political rally, Or a new age civil rights protest. "I know what you are thinking because I am smart!! We are friends!!!!!! :-D" only a handful of ppl see him, and all these ppl walk through him. Then says "AAAAAUUGGGHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ILL SEE YOU TONIGHT, WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME BY YOURSELVES!!! WE WILL SPEAK THEN. IT WAS A PLEASURE!!!! YOUR PROTESTS MAKE ME A LOT STRONGER, KEEP IT UP!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!" Then he starts singing an old 1900s southern song.
He is the scariest horror movie character ever and he doesn't even have a costume.
Well it’s a kinda old western pastor outfit
He scared the shit out of me as a kid and still does now!!
k4t5 lol am thinking of beautiful cruthetss movie 1.01 women can i come im fuck no.
Henry Kane is the poltergeist in human form.
This scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
I think what makes him creepy for me is the fact there's no effects involved- it's natural. No CGI, no special effect make up. I know he had cancer at the time, but damn, he still gave one Hell of a performance.
That man starred in SO MANY of my childhood nightmares.

MasterJediDude That is true he did a great job, he knew it was going to be his last role so he gave 110%
there are some moments during same scenes Julian Beck looks even sicker...
Which made him look that much creepier as Reverend Kane.
I thought it was Nancy Pelosi
February 10, 2018--- Julian Beck plays Henry Kane...Henry Kane is awesome... I liked him...awesome character!... R.I.P... Loved Julian Beck....missed him..
the preacher from westboro baptist church
you are going to DIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE! aaahhhh that still scares me 26 years later :D
Yes. He actually died during the making of Poltergeist 2 of stomach cancer.
Genuis Julian Beck. He died shortly after shooting this from stomach cancer.
I remember watching the making of this and the actor who played Henry Cane was actually dying at the time he was filming this, so they all believed that he delivered that line best because he knew his own fate. I dunno, he seems like a friendly sort.
I can’t believe our parents allowed us to watch this movie.. until this day, I can’t have a tv in my bedroom....however I see this character type every time I’m on a nyc subway
Yeah but those are just crack heads. Kane was supernatural.
@MinWilliamJosephWWM i love henry kane since a child.....nothing is like the 80s.... i think he is one of the spookiest men in history.....
It's the E-Harmony dude! Aaaaahhh!
I had recurring nightmares of rev Kane as a kid from this movie, but I couldn't recall what movie the scene was from. I just found it just now like 30 years later. Crazy
yeah..creepy guy and a great actor (RIP) , very expressive death face....
I had heard also that this was a man dying of cancer.Whether true or false this was a truly disturbing individual in Poltergeist 2,and portrayed with such amazing conviction
this is my landlord
Anyone else wonder why, all of a sudden, he needed to be "let in"? He had no problem appearing where he wanted to in the first film.
He still terrifies me! I remember watching this film as a child. I am 30 and he still freaks me out!
@PETKKKO I was 11 years old when this came out. I'm 36 now. How could you only be 25 years old? Anyway, R.I.P. Julian Beck.
0:43 Joel Osteen all the way.
Let me in... let's talk about it.
Ok sounds good 👍
Hollywood doesn't make scary movies like this anymore.
I love getting around
~Its Gov. Rick Scott Without makeup!~
I grew up thinking it was completely normal to have Night-terrors about the ReV. This guy haunted my dreams growing up.., and even now -I'm 33- he may not haunt my dreams, but he haunts my memories. He's almost as scary as the old Woman in CloakAnDagger....
He's the BEST!!!
Julian Beck died of stomach cancer either during or shortly after filming this movie. Hollywood didn't need to make him look that gaunt. It's a shame; he was a talented actor.
he gave me nightmares for 26 years O_O scary old man
This was frightening, looking at Kane when I first saw the film a couple of years ago. Kane seriously makes the hairs on my neck stand as well as giving me goosebumps! HORRIFYING
Yeah this guy is really creepy, i still think this movie is scary, with this guy, evil , makes the picture a great Horror.
one of the best scenes
This is vinny in 40 years
My inspiration for Father Evil.
saw this movie when i was 8yo, now im 25 i still have nightmares of Kane...
Sadly, he knew what he was talking about too. He died during the making of the film, from stomach cancer. Hence his scary appearance.
Im 35 & still to scared to even watch this clip im going to bed soon...he scared the shit out of me as a child & still do as an adult
I think the version of him in Poltergeist 3 was good as well. He seemed like more of a stalker in this one and more of a monster in the third.
Steven should have been like, "get off my lawn, you old goat." Then he should have b-slapped him.
thats prince phillip coming out of hospital
" you are a ninja! "
This might be out of turn but I think the cancers physical effects actually made him look scarier.
This is BETTER THAN THE MOVIE!
Reminds me of Fred Phelps of the Westburo Baptist Church.
omg yeah i know, I had nightmares about him for years!
i remember him like it was yesterday! wery scary man!!
Why did I watch this I'm freaked out.
The title cracked me up
Julian Beck. He was terminal with cancer at the time -- I believe he died about 6 weeks after filming wrapped. I doubt if much makeup was necessary. Truly frightening stuff.
With his hat off he looks like the man who played Zelda in Pet Semetary
