He lived in Japan for more than 8 years & he want to explore it more, it's because he loves Japan , their system, discipline, environment, places , he learnt & mastered the language , he worked in different jobs from convenient store to Software developer & he started his own business for Japanese language school for Indians RRJ academy, even after getting rejected for business funds, he started it from his own money.. after leaving his job there were times when he almost ran out of his budget, he's not rich like his friend Ajay Pandey whose monthly housing rent is 1 lakh Rs, you can guess his salary.. Pawan Lohomord is man of free soul, he knows to become happy you don't have to be bounded.. He lives, do good things, makes videos just for his happiness, because loves making them, he want to continue his work just on the things he loves.. This is not mindless act... everyone want to live their life on their own terms, & this man is living that life, on his own term.. Sometimes, you need to go with the industry norms. Think this way, if you write your scripts differently, how someone who is trained in industry norms supposed to Understand your script? This is really not about becoming a good or great film director, sometimes you need to be trained in the technical aspects of your industry, to get your life easier.

There is a huge misconception that exams are only a rat race for marks and they do not focus on practical knowledge and practical knowledge is everything. For example consider the example he took of questions on lighting scenes. The cameras used in actual films do not have high quality displays, the displays are usually small and many filmmakers like Nolan use analog film cameras with no displays. And most shoots are outdoors and the displays are not clearly visible outdoors and how the scene looks on camera display may not look proper on big screens. Because of all these reasons having the correct knowledge of lighting is important for shooting films. Relying only on personal opinion will ruin the film. P.S. Exams can cover the knowledge of the students which can be applied practically. Also he has so may problems with the ways Japanese people work like not leaving proper boxes gets script rejected then why does he still want to work in Japanese film industry? Indian film industry does not have all these things. Look at Tanmay Bhat he is so chill but still makes good ads for Cred while having fun.
The professors are right. The knowledge of famous directors cannot be codified for grading. It is a highly subjective interpretation which cannot be graded. That is why professors insist on the basics. Once you know the basics, only then can you experiment with your interpretation of knowledge.
