Music for Symphonic Band - Grade 5
Steven Spielberg's twenty year association with John Williams has produced yet another powerful cinematic achievement, this time a gripping, realistic view of the horrors of WW II. Williams' score includes this simple hymn, using chorus as an instrument of the orchestra, adding a special reverence and poignancy to the simple melody. Arranger Paul Lavender brings us this edition for the concert band stage.

I remember when I played this in 8th grade and we dedicated the song to veterans it was amazing.
Playing Grade 5 repertoire in a middle school or junior high band? Impressive
I did that today and that is why I am listening to it
@@jiangfengchu5890 i mean, the piece is more like a grade 4 maybe 3 imo, till loved playing it last year, amazing piece
To quote Elon Musk: "That's lookin like... cap.
This music has transcended the movie in which it appears. To me, it is the official hymn of Memorial Day.
Yea I wanted to hear the whole song
They're working on it
I had always thought this would be great as a band piece.
Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece of a film and this is the best piece from the film
my favorite is chocolate but to each their own.
Why did I say milk😂😂😂. I just edited it.
It's an amazing arrangement
I play for my schools top band on snare drum and this song is by far my favorite
I had to play this on drums. Forever remembered.
I would love to play this with my high school band, but I don’t think most of them have the dedication to put in the effort. This is unfortunate because I’m a Junior and the temperament of the current underclassmen do not bode well for such music.
Willie Coleman I am also a junior and we played this song not that long ago. Our whole brass and percussion got it down, but woodwinds were a problem for almost an entire month or two.
im playing it with a youth orchestra
@@fastinoc oof
i can play this
So what happened @ 1:34 .............it skipped more than 15 measures...................(8^?????
Alexandra .Willitts I noticed that too
They do that so people can't copy the music and forces them to buy it. If they showed the whole song, people could just copy it and Hal Leonard wouldn't get any money.
good but why the key change.. there is a reason its in g maj.
It’s intended for high schoolers so they don’t wanna make the key too tricky
This is just a sample
1:40. I can play this. 1:41 well crap
What instrument?
Actually, if people that CAN'T keep up without getting lost are willing to write each beat above that line very few people would get lost and most people would eventually understand that it isn't as difficult to play as they hear it here.
Just put 1 2 3 4 above that corresponding beat in each measure and let your eyes do the work not your brain.
