Music score composition maybe. But definitely not composition in general. Especially considering how much of the Star Wars score is essentially just The Planets.
@@Mrs.Magix58 you are retard, there is some similarity in the holts planets, specially Marsh, but not even close to the entire starwars music composition.
I’ve been listening to some of his arrangements (mostly this and Jurassic World) and they are some of the most faithful arrangements I’ve ever seen. I wish more arrangers were faithful to the original scores (looking right at you, Michael Brown).
I had the absolute pleasure of playing the bass clarinet part for this piece as the finale of my last concert in high school. While I do miss it, I’ve moved on to bigger and better things in life.
As a euph player, I love checking who's part I'm playing with, and in this arrangement, I love playing with different instruments at different times like the Tenor Sax, Trombone, Tuba, and even Horn! Great arrangement!
+worst maymays +jonesy s That's the best part of playing the euphonium in my opinion. You get to play solos, rhythm parts with the lows, chord parts with the trombones/horns, and runs with the other woodwinds. All in the same piece!
And bassoon! I play both bassoon and euphonium and they play the same role in concert band, to play counter melody and bridge the gap between tenor and bass
My mind is blown! I only just realised that this is literally just an abridged version of The Jedi Steps + Finale! Now I understand where that 5/8 piece came from, because I always thought that part corresponded to one particular song. Kinda wish there was a song that was just that theme tho
If French horns don't have that beginning melody, I don't think the arranger did this piece justice. Horns have a very iconic sound with John Williams' music and I think it was an important factor that was left out.
+Thetony444 The Sorcerer's Apprentice is grade 6. Also in some states the grade only goes up to 5 on their lists. So a grade 6 piece could be thrown in the grade 5 list. Source: I'm a tubist, been playing for 13 years, I play in a community band that regularly plays grade 4 and grade 5/6 pieces. P.S.: One has not suffered until they play The Sacred Flame.
I'm in Virginia, some grade 6 pieces we've played are Blue Shades (Frank Ticheli), Armenian Dances (Alfred Reed), Variations on a Theme of Robert Schumann (Robert Jager), Third Suite (Robert Jager), Second Suite in F (Gustav Holst), First Suite in Eb (Gustav Holst), Slavyanskaya (Boris Kozhenikov), Lincolnshire Posy (Percy Grainger)... Those are all the ones I can think of right now. As you can see, there is a pretty huge difficulty range, with First Suite in Eb and Third Suite being relatively easy, but Blue Shades being very difficult.
There's the tempo marking 'With Utmost Force' somewhere on there, well done Bocook! As well as the 'Hn. Solo' cue *applauds* Also, this is a fitting piece to celebrate Star Wars Day with! May the Fourth be with you :P
in 2019 of my sophomore year we were having a concert with so much good pieces including this and we never got to perform it, including the concert my junior year because of covid and I don’t think I’ll ever heal from that. I know it’s probably stupid but I will probably never have the chance to perform this, or just concerts again
We just got this for our winter concert and since I play flute, I usually receive the melody and this song is a nice change of pace! Although the parts the flutes have differ from each other slightly and the song is in 12/8 mostly and that makes me cringe since I play by ear mostly. After almost 7 years of playing, I still play by ear and memorize the music instead of actually reading what is written on my paper 24/7. It drives my band teacher crazy so he put me in a second music class for percussion pieces and our drumline (which I've been a member of all highschool). So while I can double on percussion, I get told to focus on my main instrument(s) first and foremost.

I love what Hal Leonard did at the very end. For those who don't know, the Original Trilogy had this classic long note play at the very end of the credits. You may know what I'm talking about, that: "Deeeee-dah-dah-duuuum-duuuh-duuuuh-duuuuum-de-de-deeeeeeeh-deeeeeeh-DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM" at the end. The original credits for Force Awakens sadly did not have this at the end, since the sounds of the music just get quieter and then slowly fade away like with many other films. Which sucks because at the end of the credits, it seems as if the musical scores are leading to that note. Hal Leonard Concert Band here, made sure to include that long lasting note.
I played this in 7th grade, and it was so bad, but oh my gosh the memories.😂😆😊 But this song and arrangement is amazing. I think TFA had the best score in Star Wars, or it at least has stood out the most to me. TLJ felt like a copy of TFA. Like I get it with the fanfares and leitmotifs and all that, but it just felt watered down, if that makes sense. Nevermind, anyway, I like this and miss it, lol.😂😆😊
Call me biased, but why are most of the horn licks from the movie duplicated in the saxophones? While I would expect this for grade 3 and lower, there are 4 Horn Parts scored.

+Epic Gaming Also the hardest one to actually play.
id argue that would be the x-wing scherzo
Its surprisingly easy on trumpet like as a solo
+KyKenobi YES!!!! Especially the tuba part!!!
It wouldn't be the best, but it is awesome and I love it too!
5:30 the low voices give me chills right there
Sarah Lang "low voices" means lower pitch instruments aka low brass
Same here
Isabela Moore and woodwinds... We are just as important
Hello, a tuba here. It's a pleasure to play this :)
@@isabelamoore337 and low woodwinds, bari and bass clari etc

John Williams: Random Horn solo

the key signature also is hard
I agree, I'm having to play this and it's hard as hell
That's why it's hocketed after the first two measures.

Athrun Yong why?
woodwind parts aren't bad at all. Horn is where it's absolutely nuts lmao

I'm a woodwind and tbh this piece was not hard to play at all 😂
I'm probably spend 80% of my time on those damn sixteenth notes for clarinet at 42 lol
yep
I relate so much
Worst part, but the rest is great
I feel the pain
My band at school is getting ready to play this at my final concert next Thursday before I graduate. I'm so hyped!

No matter what film John Williams composes for, no matter if it’s good or bad we still can agree the film score is godlike
