I think the system used for the storage system would be hilarious for a trap in hermitcraft. Have a player fall into the room and whenever they look at the exit it closes in front of them
it would need to be a glass door or other solid/transparent blocks. as soon as the door closes, it would cut line of sight from the creaking. either that or the creaking would need to be above or below the door and just barely in-sight
They may have changed it in later snapshots, but early on there were ways to trick a creaking into not despawning by messing with render-distance to unload the creaking heart before the creaking was out of range. The creaking won't despawn until both the creaking and its heart are loaded at the same time
The best part of the minecart thing is that it's not even that weird. You just have a Creaking that has gained legal employment as a rail switcher. Could even build him a little booth!

I remember years ago seeing a suggestion of Enderman heads that emit a redstone signal when looked at. I can imagine something made out of the Creeking resin that senses when someone doesn't look at the sensor.
I like that idea! Maybe resin and ender pearls to combine the abilities of both mobs that really don’t like being looked at. Doesn’t function if the player is wearing a carved pumpkin. That’s how we get this redstone tech in survival
So I figured out that it could see threw paintings on accident when testing things with them and immediately went and killed my friends on thier brand new hard core world I told them I build them a surprise and I dropped a concrete powder wall with a painting behind it placed on a glass wall and they where blown to bits in seconds they had only been playing the world for a few days so it wasn't a big loss for them and we prank each other all the time so there's no hard feelings I also used way more minecarts than mumbo did i used 15
For aesthetic redstone this is absolutely amazing! You can now engage with the player's senses so much better! From tripwires and pressure plates to detect physical presence, to skulk sensors to detect sounds, and now we have this way of detecting where the player is looking?? Now all we need is redstone triggered by certain foods (taste) and be scent and we've given it all 5 senses!
There is redstone triggered by certain foods! SimplySarc made a system where farmer and butcher villagers send a Sculk signal if you eat specific foods they have in stock.
i always thought a cool use for candles would be to make the like permanent lingering potions. like if you lit an enchanted or brewed candle it’ll give you an effect if you come into a certain range. like a lime green enchanted candle would give you jump boost or something when lit
It's so hard to get excited about this when you know the Creaking forcibly despawns at dawn even if nametagged and only spawns at night, making it completely unusable in any practical uses. Shame though that in Survival, Creakings despawn during the daytime, meaning that we can't use them in ordinary contraptions without spawning them in with a spawn egg, unless there is something in the patch notes I missed :< Kinda wish Mojang allow creakings to be name-tagged in a future update to prevent despawning due to the daytime; a cool hidden mechanic for us inventors and for contraptions like these.

I think that trap right at the end is probably the best way to combine Creaking with Redstone. Now, build that on Hermitcraft when it comes out perhaps? Would be an amazing trap in a dungeon
I can imagine a hall, with paintings in the 4 directions, and you look at them in a specific order to open a door. Also mix in some sculk sensor to make you turn and jump, essentially dancing to open a door
I love the creaking and it's implementations in technical minecraft! In Mario Maker back in the day Boos were used everywhere to create contraptions. I hope we can see some of that here!
OMG you should make redstone security system that if you toggle a system and the creaking triggers the string it tps you to your base (via stasis chamber) and drops you into dispensers that gear you up perfect security system
Just realized that with minecraft planning on adding randomness with certain circuits, the creaking's observance mechanic, and other pre existing items, you could technically make a schrodinger's box in minecraft! (That is, if you're cruel enough to 😿)

The creaking heart can be used by redstone. If you put a comparator there, I heard that depending on how close the creaking is, the signal strength will be (closer more, far less)
a redstone display would work, you need a series of creakings just out of eyesight for an x and y axis, with the less creakings on each one the further down they are it'd take a lot of math but ppl have done it!
You can make a game on hermitcraft were you have to look in the direction to switch rails and if you don’t you die and it can be a trial and error type game where you don’t know the direction to look or it can be you go by really quick and need to be fast. You can also make it so it randomizes the direction you need to look each game so it’s different every time.

The only downside is in survival a naturally spawned creaking would despawn (even when nametagged) if you leave range with it
You could block every spawnable area except for the contraption so it reactivates when you're in range again
But the contraption would still only work at night then since the creaking automatically despawns during the day

Its a shame none of this is doable in survival, given that naturally spawned creakings will despawn in the day
I wish they gace us a thing like if yoh surround the sides of a creakkng heart in obsidian or something it does not despawn

They make different sounds when you eat them, right? So you could calibrate a skulk sensor to it? Plus, observers can tell if you eat cake
