    This is pretty funny and informative. How do you find the bed to be with the folding seats?

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only downside I found is unless you use a bed liner when hauling stuff, depending on what it is, the seats will get filthy from stuff falling through the cracks.

      AppalachianMountainRiders that's what I've heard is people hauling sand or dirt and it fills the seats up with it. Does it still feel pretty strong and durable or do the seats create a weak point?

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve hauled a crap ton of fire wood in mine and it’s plenty strong and well made. The design of it is really good except for how it allows dirt and debris to fall through to the seats. A lot of guys just get a rubber mat from Lowe’s or someplace similar and cut it to fit. A lot cheaper than the Honda liner.

    If you get one with a hardtop roof, Honda recommends to not trailer with an open trailer, just an FYI. May be able to put on and remove each trailer trip.

      @AppalachianMountainRiders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Michael Elias should be fine towing open with a hard top. I’m s the soft top you would want to take off if towing in the highway. Ask me how I know...lol.

    Hi, did you find the pioneer 500 too tippy? how is your lower back on long rides? I just want to do trail riding, no muding. From Ontario CanadaThanks

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t find the 500 tippy at all but it’s far from stock too. I am running 1.5” spacers and 27” tires which are a tremendous help in stability, have Walker Evans shocks with the rear sway bar removed which gives you much more flex and a much smoother ride, and as far as my lower back I did a bucket seat conversion so I can ride all day in comfort.
      That being said, stock, the P5 is still a great trail buggy. The stock bench seat is still more than adequate too. I rode all day often before swapping the seats and never felt uncomfortable. To be a great little trail buggy all it really needs is first, 1.5” or 2” wheel spacer unless your riding 50” trails. Second, some bigger tires. At least 26” with 27” being the perfect size in my opinion.

    Thanks for the response, between you and your friends, what would be the preferred machine? Pioneer 500 or 700 or can am maverick trail or sport?
    Thanks

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have no desire to go that fast, can’t beat the P500. Especially for durability. If your wanting to rip and tear, the new Maverick sport is awesome machine. I’ve only gotten to spend about 15min behind the wheel of what but I was super impressed by it. A big improvement over the previous Mavericks.

    is the 100 front cabin size the same as the 700? Im looking at the 700 and at 6'2", legroom is important

  • @jpatt973
    @jpatt973 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video thanks! Before I purchased my side by side four seater I looked long and hard because I'm a big fan of Honda I love their products the rear seats in that are cool because they transform into a bed or seating but the reality of it all is unless you have just little kids like you showed in the video to put back there any adult is going to be chewing on their knees a Kawasaki Teryx 4 and Wolverine X4 has it all over the pioneer as far as comfort in the seats the X4 Fort Wells are too small unless you have a shoe size of 6 or under in my opinion

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, a T4 and X4 are much better suited for adults if you don’t have use of a dump bed. The Pioneers aren’t awful, just no where near the other two for comfort.

    Actually, regular 2wd is better for sliding than turf, turf is open rear diff, for 1-wheel drive

    how do you turn the heat off it stays hot all summer is there a valve to shut the flow off to the heater core?

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know if you have a heater installed but that is probably not the problem if you do. Your sitting right on top of the motor so it’s going to get hot with or without a heater. The only thing you can do with it is put better insulation under the seat or add a little bilge fan under your legs that will blow the heat away towards the rear of the Pioneer.

  • @SgtGump
    @SgtGump 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you experienced any heat issues with your Honda 1000? Do you know if that issue has been fixed with the 2018-19 models?

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have. That’s one of the reasons I sold it for a Wolverine X4. I didn’t mind it too bad but the bars behind the seat got hot enough I was afraid my kids would burn their hands. I had the cabin comfort kit installed (there is a vid on that) too but honestly it didn’t do much but help keep steam from coming up into the front of the cab. Instead it channeled it all into the back which would be right in the passenger faces if someone was riding back there. Those’ don’t matter so much with just the 3 seater though. The 18 and 19 come with the upgraded cabin comfort kit but I don’t think it is any different than what I had installed on my 17’.

      Just one or two. The doors are fine as long as I make sure they are shut t the second click. The bed is the only thing I noticed on a regular basis which. Lot of guys said a little electrical tape around the latch solves that if it bothers you...lol. It didn’t bother me.

    Yea, Honda 1000 pioneer. Great machine for cold ass winter days. Don't try it in summer unless you want to cook your ass and all passengers. Piss poor engineering. This machine sucks because of the heat issue that it has. Why Honda didn't put a firewall to keep the fff nn heat out is beyond me. Then there is the seat that sits right on top of that great engine that is smoking your ass. CMON HONDA, FIX THIS PIECE!!! Yes, I own one and I'd like to shove it up Honda's ass. For all the great things that this machine has the SUPER HEAT PROBLEM IS A DEAL BREAKER!!!! BUYER BEWARE!! THEY AIN'T GONNA TELL YA ABOUT THIS.

      my 2016 pioneer 1000-5 is at the dealer since june 29 2018 for a clutch recall, its still there today august 14 2018 with no parts avalabel all Honda says is parts are backordered, now 8 weekends, thanks a lot Honda for the shit customer service !!!!

      My 2016 has no heat problem . Got the shield installed from Honda for free. Got the new clutch fix for free from Honda before anything happened. Took one week for all of it. First year models always have problems in all brands. The 2018 models don’t have these problems. The clutch fix has been available for free from Honda for months. By the way there is a recall on the plastic cover for the muffler I got that done too. Free . Took 30 minutes at dealer. Honda does stand behind their mistakes

    • @terminator9253
      @terminator9253 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      talked to my dealer and Honda and I think they are putting it back together so I can use it till they get parts, but now the gaskets are on back order, this is in Manitoba Canada, we seem to be the last to get anything.
