The Dawes rolls happened before the Jim Crow era ended which explains why so many of us were left out!
yep
I am a southeastern Cherokee from Murfreesboro Tennessee and great great great Cherokee
Bull shit
@@phillyslim6104 Southern Cherokees is not a federally recognized tribe. Just like Northern Cherokees and White River Cherokees. Most of their members have no historical ties to Cherokee Nation.
Descendants of Cherokee Freedmen were listed on the rolls. They just had to fight fir their rights as members because some leaders of Cherokee Nation discriminated against them. How were you left out? Did your Cherokee relatives live here in Oklahoma?
Well I am a Cherokee out of Georgia and my ancestors never left the South. We still here between Florida and Georgia.
Absolutely because some went to preserve what they could of the culture like my 2and 3 gg mother did and her daughters and sons stay to preserve the land
Yess indeed, My family is Cherokee from Georgia. Lots of history told from my Granny.
We’re HUGE!

What is the difference between a white Cherokee and a white person? What is the difference between a black Cherokee and a black person? What is an Indian? How many people were unable to benefit financially from being “Indian” because of the color of their skin? A whole lot of people. What is being done to improve the condition of these foundational “Americans”.
They think we don't know that we were here before slavery and about 90%of so called Black Americans are the American Indians but we know.
@Childfromabove that's not what I'm saying necessarily, I'm saying that American Indians are the so called Black Americans some of us are mixed but for the most part we're American Indians just a mix of Indian tribes. Black or negro was another term for darker Indians, darkskin is from the sun not because your African.
@Childfromabove yeah europeans infiltrate our culture they studied us and took our land and resources. Then disenfranchised the dark complexed Indians when deep down we are the true ones. Even today black american don't have any african traditions from our food which is mainly indigenous to the Americas to our dances which is different but one thing we had in common was the sound of the drum on both continents the drum is the heartbeat of the nation. But when they speak on african mixed natives it's just a hijack it's not like we're in african saying we're Indian lol. But documentation will tell it all also they knew who was african and who wasn't. Less than 3% of the enslaved african made it to NORTH America the most of the slaves were sent to South America when they say the sent 12 million to America (which they didn't ) they mean North, Central, and South our ppl literally miss that and think American is where the USA corporation at.
@Childfromabove same here, what tribe you from
@Childfromabove me too, Osiyo✊🏽🏹
Dude in the background keep trying to separate Cherokee and black and he's WRONG!!!
I hope those now able to enroll are able to learn about the culture, and not fall victim to portraying stereotypes. It's good to see an expansion of education and history on all cherokee people.
The imposters still deny our CDIB, they still treat us like outsiders. WE are the Aboriginal Cherokee people.
@@Beardawg2234 Demonic. UR slandering the Cherokee by calling them imposter?
Anti blackness truly runs so deep into everything it’s so sad and disgusting.
Black isn't recognized in law. You should know your identity.
Cherokees are not originally black! You can keep living in a fairytale all you want but it’s not true. This man is a freemen! A Cherokee citizen but not Cherokee by blood!
@@redman4316 that doesn't make any difference anymore doesn't it?
What about the many Cherokee who broke away from the tribes that didn’t want to assimilate into white culture, the ones who went to war and after they lost were enslaved by the Cherokee who did integrate with foreigners. How about they dissect that, and understand that those who were enslaved by the tribe were other members who fought encroachment. Why isn’t that being mentioned or understood at all???
I didn’t know that. They make it seem like we was Africans and was never apart to start with 🤔 crazy 🪶🪶🪶
@@chevyp147 you are from Africa!
@@redman4316 do you know anything about this man to say he is from Africa? Or are you attempting to feel good of yourself by slandering strangers??
@@boxingwiththedon7401 I personally know this man! I’m from Tahlequah and I’m a Cherokee too! He is a freemen and has Cherokee children by blood too. I grow up with them.
Listen bro, not all “black” people come from Africa. I thought I was an African American, but I remember my mother telling me as a boy that we were Indian, and still I was proud African. Until I did my genealogy, and on my mother’s side, both of her parents, I traced my lineage through to the mid 1700’s. And before I knew so an elder of mine gave us a book that traced a lineage to Chief Dragging Canoe and many other chiefs who come together. Looking at my family tree I realize that we are a mixture of different tribes, and I believe many colored people will find the same truth. As far as I can trace, and I’m not done, Ive found no trace of anyone stepping off a boat or being enslaved, in fact I’ve found warriors and war chiefs who had hundreds of acres, and that’s documented and no hatred or racism or bigotry can take that away, not even the racist ones who call themselves natives and discriminate against us, you call yourself native and “real native” but you don’t know a real one when you see one, even if they show you the proof!! Hawah has spoken and we shall return for ours!!
the same genealogy dane Calloway if editing under fake names
@@YellowSynth what are u even saying
@@YellowSynth Can you elaborate a little? I am genuinely curious.
@@boxingwiththedon7401 natives are not black originally! That don’t mean that blacks don’t have native ancestors but they were not black.
Wrong.
My grandparents told us that we're half Cherokee and black and we discovered this is not answering stirrers and we've been learning more about this everyday and we got pictures and everything and we had to make sure we put them up and we keep them because I asked a lot of them have started the passed away now
Osiyo family, Wado and much AHA. Please make sure that you understand that “Black Cherokee’s” are the eldest people’s of the lineage, with that being said there is no need to put “Black” in front of it.
@Blind Mice Ignorant comment, all “Black People” don’t come from Africa.
That’s bull shit
Cherokee from dade county florida. I can tell you a lot of times its really because the history has been beaten out of the people it’s us the younger ones th it’s coming back and bringin our true heritage back home.
Wado for this healthy and productive discussion.
dawes roll was for land. every family was supposed to be issued like land and a mule or some shit. each family got a single ssi type number on paper.
That bs
43:00 being adopted doesn't mean she was African or that she wasn't a full blooded Indian. If she were African like President Obama she may not have been allowed into the tribe.
Do we know the difference between Confederation, Republic, Nation, Tribe and Clan?
Would you be referring to
American national of the republic or u s citizen?
Thankfully Ancestry proved my NA DNA 🧬 so glad my grandma 👵🏼 didn’t lie, she told the truth and science proved it.
Dna don’t count
That's good but I don't think people that are elderly 55 60 70 years old will be saying they Cherokee if they are not.no matter slavery or not
Tribes don't accept DNA because it can't tell anyone what tribe they are. DNA might have told your grandma she was part N.A., but it didn't tell her she was Cherokee, so she could have been of any tribe, thats why tribes dont accept DNA.
5:55 start
Can someone explain how I can find out how to gain Cherokee citizenship through my great great grandfather that was restored to the nation in 2017?
The enrollment office of the Cherokee nation.
This is what I’m trying to do because my great grandmother was a Choctaw freedman Indian and had a roll number & card number.
my family is cherokee and creek from oklahoma of 1800 around the time of indian removal act
Take a DNA test. Native American DNA wont show up because all blacks have some kind of myth about having Indian in their family, but DNA tells the truth. Blacks so do love having that myth that they have Indian in their family, I think its because they want something to tell the white man that the black man belongs to America,
Take a DNA test
For what when it’s on my lineage
@@KingTwinTv Are you afraid it will show up with zero Native American?
lol you right in America Indian not native nothing 😆
I need info on how to check my estate as far as getting a line on any benefits tied to my family name. My grandfather was fresh out a teepee and not to long after my mother was born and she was born in 55. I am Comanche.
😂😂😂
Some people are definitely descendants of ancient traveling hunters. They just want your stuff and will do anything to get it. I have a niece that married a guy for his money. He’s a very nice man but what a softy and she I latched onto him as soon as she found out he had 100% Ojibwe. She has taken advantage of several others.
My mom is mixed with African American and white and Blackfoot and choctaw
Moors
My dad is mixed with African American and white and lumbee indian
Lumbee are a fraudulent tribe, they have zero Native American DNA. God will judge them at the day of judgement for lying they are Indians, when their DNA proves that they only have European and African show up on their DNA test. They are the biggest county of liars in the U.S. If you're a so-called lumbee, then you're not Native American, you're just European and African.
No
6k
Still apart of African regardless
How are you proving that?
Most Africans don’t claim us because they know who we really is.
African is not a place nor is it a people. It is time to wake up. Alkebulan is the original name for the Western land. You may think that this recently created place is the Motherland, but I challenge you to Research where you really are no. It is well known to be the GranMotherland.
