Great review and fair play to the manufacturer for sending such an entry-level product to a sim racer as a flight sim guy myself I know how snobby we can get over peripherals. I've been wanting to get into sim racing for a while and for 150 quid I think this could be my first wheel. Love the channel as always mate thanks.
I know you have put this as recommended for kids, but honestly looking at ordering this. I have never tried racing sims, but i intend to use it for virtual reality so just want a cheap option to be able to experience the full driving and dont want to spend a ton. thanks for the review.
i rn had a wheel that was really toy-ish. it was 2 pedals, maximum rotation of 270 degrees, and didnt even work properly. I looked up some cheap racing wheels for starting and your review really helped, i guess ima buy it as i am a starter. very good review
It really doesn't look to bad for what it is. I mean. It's got nicer looking pedal plates out of the box than my csl dd. 🤦🏽♂️ the wheel looks like an OEM wheel. Pretty cool. Like maybe a Nissan.. thanks, Karl, for checking it out for us!
Actually you could put an elastomer underneath the brake pedal cos at least in ACC on console you can adjust the brake deadzone to give 100% force for less travel
Great review! Just bought this wheel as im just starting out and its absolutely fantastic. Only problem is that when connecting Bluetooth it is requiring a pin number to connect and thr instructions to do not supply such a pin ☹️
Idk how everyone is having problems ive never had a wheel before and set it up fine. I think people just have no common sense ive had it for a few months and works fine only thing i would want different is the break pedal but for £150 you cant complain.
Just seen this on argos. Looking to replace my G29 as it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Green light on top flashing no calibration. Bought a new 24v power supply and still nothing
So 3 platform compatibility, coles with a pretty impressive shifter and 3 pedal set AND has an pretty ingenious pass through for a controller to save USB space and more torque than the alleged Moza R3. That's pretty impressive lol.
@KarlGosling oh yea definitely. I won't be trading my moza for it haha. Just nice to see someone actually put dome effort and thought into something budget friendly
Idk to me for the extra £70 it would be worth it for the logitechs better pedals and real leather wrapped metal steering wheel with metal shifter paddles. Sure it doesn’t come with the h pattern shifter but the Logitech seems a step above in terms of quality. Also the compatibility and availability of mods for Logitech stuff adds value as well. Not to mention longevity and resale value. I know this is cheaper but the Logitech stuff is so common to find second hand I think you’d be better off going that route. I had a Logitech G920 Now have full simagic setup.
@@alecmillea4539idk the g29 is only so „cheap“ because of the 34% discount, i thing a newcommer is better off with a used belt driven system from fanatec or thrustmaster 🤔
Bought this yesterday I did have a Logitech but stopped working trying to get used to the new wheel for me feels a little different to the Logitech but I have to say for the price it’s fantastic
I'm thinking of getting this beast for VR racing, do you think I should save money and get a better wheel, sorry to bother you but what wheel would you suggest for VR? Thank you, awesome video, new sub here!
Hi I have this wheel and tbh although the quality and build seems great, I'm having alot of difficulty getting it to work properly especially setting up with ETS2. Even after using the app the force feedback causes me to crash everytime.
Fanatec kinda broke the market with the $400 DDbase/wheel/2pedal combo... This does have a clutch and shifter though... and a PS license. For a kid this looks very friendly. Interesting product. Good eye Karl.
Seems like a great entry level, remember the Logitech at that price is without a shifter as well! As for pedals for pc I would grab a cheap 2nd hand base model csl pedal set for £60, and they will be better than the Logitech ones at still less money, this is what sim racing needs, a lower cost to get started
I Brought this today because of your review. I must say works perfectly for me and my sons needs. Mine works perfectly on Euro Truck sim2 on pc Also works fine on F1 24 on xbox
Karl , I’ve had a maxx tech now coming on a fortnight , Saturday night I went to boot the wheel up same as I ever do however , during calibration at the end of each rotation both left and right the wheel faces the wrong way up after each cycle until it then centres . Then when Iam to load a game up in this case forza horizon 4 , the wheel is very stiff and won’t turn beyond 90 degrees each way aswell as all my button mapping being in dis array , pressing the clutch in activates the brakes and Iam stuck facing backwards . I unplugged everything and with following the steps in the manual it lead to the same conclusion . I haven’t been able to find much in terms of troubleshooting the wheel . Is there any sense you can make of this pal ?
Just bought this for my sons 10th birthday and it will not connect correctly to Xbox X and support are stumped and slow to respond (no information provided), about to return it
Can you help I just bought this and it works in wrc but to turn I have to turn the wheel right round full just to turn a small bit does it mean it's faulty everything else works great on it. But to turn it's annoying to do a full turn just to start turning in game
can get mine to pair with app, checked bluetooth setrtings and it needs a pin to pair. its not 0000, or 1234, or 1111. nothing in the manual or website so I just wasted my money :(
Hello Karl, THX for the review. I bought this some days ago because of your review. May I Ask what sw did you test it with? Any setup problems? What about the "Racing Wheel' app?
Hello there, sorry to disturb you months after the release of the video. Your content is incredible and really insightful. I had a query on whether it is possible to play bus sim 21 with this specific driving wheel. I have seen that it is £50 and I was not sure whether to get the Hori instead which is certainly directly compatible but that comes at a steeper price of £100. Great video, keep up the hard work
Just picked up one of these, i tried dirt rally 2.0 on pc, it works but no force feedback even when its enabled in options. Is it not totally compatible yet or do i have a defective unit ? Going to try dirt rally the original see if thats any better. I watched your video yesterday i couldnt remember if you mentioned about dirt rally 2.0, i was really tired lol after drinking a few beers
Hay bud a friend of mine just brought one and is struggling to get it to work on forza horizon 5 on pc got any pointers or are you able to make a set up video for pc thank you
Playstation (sony) charges allot of money to companies to allow their products to be compatible. It costs the same amount of money to make a Playstation compatible product as non... all the price difference is licensing fees. In the past (logitec g29) the difference was $50 for nearly identical units for Xbox vs PS units. Fanatec could of made a $500 Playstation base wheel combo vs the $400 identical nonPS version. They didn't though did they.
I personally don't think much to it.. a friend of mine bought it from Argos for his pc.. it doesn't work properly and Cex sell them for £25... that's how great they are.. £149 is a rip off
Thats 300 dollars in Australian money i can get a G920 for the same or i spend 50 dollars more and get a G923 thats a lot of money for a crappy plastick knock off
Doesn't work for the PC versions of Forza Horizon 5 or Euro Truck Sim 2 (in fact, this wheel crashes Euro Truck). Given that most kids into racing games seem to play Forza, this wheel is pretty disappointing, nay, it's a bag of shite.
DONT BUY THIS WHEEL UNLESS YOU READ! I bought this wheel few months ago. At all it was good but few things were terrible. 1) on pc there is no support for clutch and gearbox. Also most of the buttons on wheel doesnt work. When you are going to open pedals you have to be really easy on the bolts. I broke one bolt tottally easily and its stuck now. Build quality is just plastic and the cheapest metals. And now after like 5 months one padle shifter tottally broke. it just came off during qualification season. I wasnt even that aggresive its just poor build quality. On the cable some plastic came off like first two months after puschare. Now am going to claim this wheel and use the money on some better wheel with gearbox. Tried communicating with Maxx tech support and after months of talking for support clutch and gearbox on pc they didnt do anything.

Thanks mate, I feel it's important to cover every end of the market, high and low.
Argos is probably having a party right now because of your positive review .
I don't know about that but maybe they will sell an additional unit or two, I'm only a small channel! lol
Well... it just helped in selling one to me fella! Top marks on this review!
And here I am, with a titan and DD pro watching this.. The detail and care in your product presentation is (and has always been) remarkable.
Very much appreciated mate thank you!
Great review. Really easy to follow and understand as someone completely new to wheel kits.

let's face it, the Logitech wheels are not worth their price any more
I agree, there's DD options getting "close" now.

Do you know if this racing wheel works with euro truck simulator 2?
I came here to ask this!
It does work indeed
On mine for some reason, only on forza, the default angle is slightly to the left and when centered it turns right
Being able to unplug the cables from the wheelbase makes me like it more than the low-end Logitech wheels. :D
True!
