I just bought the Moza R5 bundle. Man was this video’s timing INSANE! My desk is shaking too much and makes me think about buying a alu profile cockpit. Loved watching this, thanks for the explanations I needed that.
There's been one noticeable downside to making the switch from a NLR 2.0 wheel stand in front of a big TV, to a full profile cockpit and triple 1440 32" monitors. It was like going from a disconnected video game experience I've had all my life, to an immersive uncanny valley. That visual immersion feels real enough that the lack of motion or haptics really starts to stand out, when it didn't even compute before. Definitely going for a 4 point Slip Angle haptic kit as my next major upgrade... If good motion sims remain at their luxury 7 to 10 grand price, then haptics will have to suffice.
Yeah it’s a big shift. I’ve never felt the need for motion after getting the bass shaker set up as I feel that gets me far enough down the path of immersion to be satisfied but there’s now a bunch of things on my rig that I didn’t think I’d go for when I built the first iteration!
Couldn't agree more with the ButtKicker. I only use a single under the seat and after about 5 years I'm still amazed when your brain tricks your body to feel left and right curbs
Awesome video mate and good to know that the questions around monitors, seats etc is common across everyone. I couldn't agree more about Buttkickers. I have two attached to my cheap rig and like you cannot go without them. There was a couple of items you didn't mention and your quick thoughts would be appreciated. Stream deck, button box, flag indicator, digital dash, HPR and headphones. For me Stream Deck for all extra buttons is amazing, HPR incredible and a wired headset no worries about battery power. Anyway, thanks for the advice, it was spot on
Thanks, glad you found it useful! As for the peripherals you mention, I think they all have their place depending on individual use cases. I feel like I probably should have a stream deck by now as the extra buttons would help a lot when streaming, but I've managed to get by without so far and always seem to find other priorities for upgrades! As for flag indicators and digital dash, I'm fine with using the onscreen dash and flags so haven't found a reason to go this direction and I also prefer keeping the screens plugged into my pc at a minimum for simplicity (especially with the 4k triples as they were challenging to get working well). That said I have a pal who can't live without his digital dash so personal preference makes a big difference on this one. Your point on headphones is a good one though, I've been through a number of different wireless ones and I often wonder if I should just get a solid par of wired and be done with it!
Unfortunately people are also space limited, my setup is under the stairs so that should give you an idea on what space im working with. So in the last few months ive upgraded from a t300 that i had for 9 years to a fanatec csl dd 8nm. I had a gt omega wheelstand for the t300 and it was fine, quickly figured out it wouldn't cut it for the csl dd. So i got myself the gt omega ddx wheelstand and its perfect. If it does flex, i dont notice and also has a handy chair link. Mind you my chair is a let down, 1970s dining chair 😂
You’ve got to work with the space you’ve got and sounds like you’re maximizing every inch, love it! Not sure my 40yr old back would last long on a dining chair though! 😆
@S1Races turns out my 41 year old shoulder and neck said no too, got a decent chair a few days ago and its 100 times better, no pain now when racing (I only turn left) so it was only my left shoulder that hurt. Sad to see the old chair go, did 2 coke 600's on that @ 5 hours each, that wasn't to pleasant
I bought a Honda civic Type r drivers seat, £70 plus postage. Looks cool, really comfortable, and your back doesn't feel too sweaty after a few hours racing.
Do you guys have "pick and pull" car junkyards in the UK? Here in the States, that is a SUPER cheap way to get high quality, affordable bucket seats. I pulled a seat out of a Hyundai Tiburon that was in very good condition for only $29! No complaints with it. Super comfortable, adjustable recline and position (good for guests). And always grab the passenger seat as it has much less wear!
Great idea, I’ve never looked into it but I’m sure there’s an equivalent. I’m in Calgary (was born in the UK) but when my seat finally gives up I’ll definitely take a look
Recently switched from PS5 and now running a 7900x, 32gb 6400mhz 32cl ram and a 4080 Super. Triple 27in 1440p will be my next upgrade from using a single 4k TV. I'm new to PC and setting up to triples right has me a little concerned but I'll be getting 3 identical monitors.
Yeah it can be a bit daunting but there are some good guides out there. I put one together a while back in case you want to check that out but the general recommendation is to set the triples up as 3 native screens rather than using nvidia or AMD software to trick windows into thinking there is just a single display. Most of us find that an easier way to run triples in-game whilst being able to use windows normally with 3 separate screens
I never thought of it like that, I intended for the meaning of the second version but I have definitely started the slide into the first version over the last year…
Lol, watching your video I noticed the yellow sticker on the wheelbase. Didn't see that on mine... until I now discovered I seemingly had my wheelbase mounted 90° wrong for about a year now :)
It’s the old P1-X pedal assembly from sim-lab which happens to also fit the GT1-EVO I have. In the past you could buy it separately, not sure if it’s still available as a standalone set of parts
@@S1Races thanks for the response mate, i'll have a look around and see if I can see it. I'm not a massive fan of the original EVO pedal plate hence the initial question :)
Yeah I had to switch the EVO pedal plate out as I couldn’t mount the heusinkveld ultimates to it. It’s nice to have a full 80:20 pedal frame as it means it’s easy to adjust and upgrade in the future.
@S1Races Nah havent had any sort of flex with wheel or pedals or anything. Made a custom box for inverted heusinkvelds back in 2022 and they've been solid. Gonna be a real test once I get my Moza R5 I just ordered on Saturday whenever that arrives. But its held up. Its gone through a few different iterations tho. You got a discord or something I could showcase it?
@ That’s awesome to hear, must be so satisfying to build something from the ground up and have it continue to perform well with upgrades. Discord is dormant at the moment as was previously used for the league I used to run but feel free to send pics to si@s1-racing.com, I'd love to see the rig!
I do love seeing a wooden rig! Even if it can take the wheelbase forces, my guess is flex will still be an issue, especially with a load cell brake pedal
@@S1Races I have my Moza R9 bolted to a very very sturdy wooden desk (with metal legs), and Fanatec pedals bolted to multiplex hardwood board. I had the pedals once on the metal pedal plate of a Playseat Revolution, and THAT one flexed (I put a brick under it , that resolved the problem....). I do not use wood screws but M8 bolts, and therefore have the floorboard on short metal legs, so that I can reach the nuts, and it does not damage my carpet.
@@renefeijen5916 Thanks for sharing, consider me more educated on wooden rigs now! Great to hear they are a viable option even for DD wheels and load cell brake pedals
I'm way WAY too old to sit in those racing/racing chairs. Much rather go for a real car seat. Comfy, breathable fabric, adjustable, don't push your shoulder together same with your legs, comes with sliders, and buildt to a much higher standard then sim rig seats from China.
Yeah a bucket seat can be super comfy, but only if it fits you pretty much perfectly. Slightly too narrow, shoulder bolsters just a tad too low, etc, can cause discomfort quickly. If you have a chance to sit in some and try them out before buying, you'd be surprised how comfy they are for long sessions when they properly fit your body.
Found your Chanel today, as a guy who get into sim racing a few months ago, i really thanks for the nice advices! Nice video ✌️
Welcome to the community! It’s a great place to be, hope you have lots of fun as you get it all going!

@ decided on a Sim-Lab P1X Pro. Picking it up today 🤙🏼
Great choice, I always wished I’d bought the P1-X but the GT1 has proved to be a solid buy
@@S1Races Whaaat!??? R5 and $900 profile set? And you cheer that?
I wonder if he actually watched the video to come up with this combo..
This video was great. I just started 3 months ago, and I'm hooked. You have me pumped up for the bass shakers I'm adding to my rig later this month!
Enjoy the bass shakers, still one of the favourite parts of my rig!
@S1Races Thanks man!
Really good Video and some really good advices! I can agree 100%.
Glad it was helpful!
What a wonderful video, informative and concise. Will be subbing and following !
Glad you enjoyed it, and welcome aboard!

Great video imo I would spend my money from most important to least in this order.
Cockpit
Seat
Pedals
Wheelbase
Monitors
Also same for the bass shakers they are an absolute game changer I’m surprised at the number of sim rigs that don’t have them
Totally agree, I’d probably swap monitors and wheelbase on your list but otherwise I’d have the same priority
I found out the hard way that having a seat made of a breathable fabric is very preferable, or you will always feel so warm
Yeah, those long sessions can get a bit warm for sure!

Excellent idea! Those "gaming race" and "gaming chairs" mostly a $tupid joke.
Excellent advice! I fully agree with the seat and cockpit being more important than a high spec wheel
100% I totally got sucked in by wheels when I started out though… You live and learn :-)

Try VR first and prepare to switch to RTX if you like it.
I like how the thumbnail text has two meanings. Just jack up your budget as much as possible, or make the most of the budget that you have.

Yeah, with direct drive wheels, basic ones anyway, you can just bolt your desk to the wall with L-brackets and it will resist flex
The first thing I did was painting my walls black for more immersion. Driving with white walls to me is a terrible idea
Full commitment, I love it! Not sure my wife would be onboard with that so just lights off for me instead!
