Good to see. So much more space than most people’s turtles kept in fish tanks, not to mention infinitely better lighting!

Very enriched habitats for the turtles. How do you regulate the temperature? Also, how do they hibernate?

Its outside, nature provides the temperature. They hibernate in the pond Location is South West England Somerset.

Roman, could you explain what a “sleeper” is? I’ve never heard that term used in the U.S. Thanks!

Dear HTC I never even thought, A sleeper is that big piece of wood about 12ft long about 12 inches across and about 4 inches thick, these are used as the base for railway lines. there are loads available as the rail line improves and replaces with concrete ones. They are usually impregnated with tar so they last forever. Cutting them with a saw produces toxic sawdust. If you use a liner the toxicity is not a problem. This is by far the quickest and easiest way of making a quick surface pond. Draining is simple as is dismantling and moving.

A sleeper is the big bit of wood they use under railway lines. Ideal for pond size.
