The Giant (Glumstone is his name) seems to also be inspired by "The Old Man of the Mountain" with a similarly long beard and head of white hair. I believe the "Walloping Winter Whale" is just the name of that specific attack. The "Ice Golem", has also apparently been confirmed to be made out of Frosting. Since the story appears to be Cuphead and Mugman gathering ingredients for Chef Saltbaker to make the "Wondertart" (which will help Ms Chalice become real) I believe this is where you will aquire the frosting for said tart.

I think the dlc is gonna be a way to incorporate the mechanics of the scrapped bosses. The first thing I noticed is that the walloping winter whale/wizard’s phases look kinda like the devil bat boss that was scrapped with him floating above and then later on taking up the right part of the screen.The knight has kinda the same mechanic as the floating airship octopus. In the demo you could parry his head to damage him and he would move left to right on the screen and not really go of the ground.Officer Winchester might be based on the giant spider but we don’t have a lot of information on him other then he was an airplane level as for the giant I really don’t know.
That Knight seems way too easy to be the main boss - even for a first stage. My theory is that he functions similarly to the Bee Cop (a sort of mini-boss) and the true boss will be either the King or Queen, with enemy pawns or rooks that actively try to hurt you.
If I had to guess they probably move through the ranks- like maybe there are separate mini bosses for each piece? (i.e. pawns, knight, bishop, rook, queen, king)
I noticed in that first level there appears to be gnomes up high that are being obscured by the geese. If they drop stuff on your head as well then that's gonna make the level really hard
I saw that in the first boss miss chalice uses a new type of bullets that are like mini tornadoes that go upwards. And I also saw that in the knight boss fight miss chalice used a kind of parry dash, like a dash that makes an automatic parry.

If you notice, the Giant boss is also is a really evident reference to the Old Man of the Mountain of the short "The Old Man of the Mountain" of Betty Boop. It was a very famous short in the 1930s with music by Cad Callaway, who has some references too in the game like King Dice

I really appreciate the insight and breakdowns. I've been waiting seems like forever for this DLC and am exciting that it's finally, finally coming this coming up year.
It seems like that chesspiece boss is moreso a horse than a dog (though the panting does still give it guard dog-like elements like you mentioned.) It being a horse makes more sense as that's what represents the Knight as a chesspiece, making a this boss a knight in both senses. I also wonder if maybe this boss will pull a page out of The Root Pack or Bon Bon''s books and actually be multiple bosses in one, with each boss theoretically representing a different type of chesspiece (Rook, Knight, Bishop, etc.) in both looks and attack patterns. I think that's a really neat idea personally.
The other bosses might be mini bosses, The pawn might spawn multiple mini pawns that go up and some are pink The bishop will move diagonally all the time, spawning little bishops that do the same, again, some are pink The Knights would be smaller than the others, but maybe they would be in all fights as protection, occasionally moving in one of the 4 cardinal directions Then after the other chess pieces, the kind will be the final fight, he will do attacks sometimes, but it will be easy to dodge, because the king can only move one space at a time (he will also be very tanky)
You missed: In the first level you can see one of the characters does a spin on the ground dash; In the second you can see the same character uses a new weapon(spreadshooter) On the third one there are new weapons for the planes(tripleshooter, one bullet shooter and granade) On the last the is a dash parry and a double jump. Also the yellow character jumps kinda different. And that is pretty much everything you missed. Hope you find this helpfull
I really hope Sheriff Winchester have a second phase that makes him becomes pure bone , and looks similar to those Cow/ Bull cranes that make some appearance in old cartoons. Even Doofenshmirtz makes fun of that in a episode of Phineas and Ferb saying, " why in deserts always you see a skull of a bull i mean, think about it,what happened to the body? did it disappear by itself ? Did the other part die in another place? That doesn't make any sense!"

Whenever you see DLC island, look in the top left corner and you’ll see the whale from the ice/fisherman boss fight. Just thought that it was a cool little detail.

I was genuinely surprised that they bothered to make a card of the THREE of Swords specifically, which represents literal heartache, both emotional and physical pain. They could have used a generic sword-looking card and gotten the same general effect, if they implement some sort of gimmick where the environment or incoming attack is based on what card is drawn. Otherwise, it's some great attention to detail, since the other Swords cards in a Tarot deck represent different things! (Where did you find the graphics for the Sun and Moon cards, by the way? I really liked them.)

I’m sure this has already been noticed but at (0:09) of the new Nintendo Direct trailer, you can notice one the tarot cards seen in the “Snow Boss” scene transition of the Game Awards trailer hurling toward the bottom right of the screen and from the looks of it, it seems to be the moon card out of the 3 cards previously shown. I have no idea if each card would have a different property but at least from this trailer we know that they will be used as some sort of attack instead of just an aesthetic

It does appear that the sheriff is stealing all the loot for herself just like the Sheriff of Nottingham does in Robin Hood. That actually reminds me of Dust Man boss from Mega Man 4. P.S.: Unless the developers already clarified Winchester as non-binary (in which case I apologize.)
The details in the tarot intro are very interesting. The 3 of Swords is suffering and pain, and the Sun seems to be headed in reverse which changes the meaning to sadness and depression, and the Moon is complexity and secrets. I doubt all that much thought was put into all of this, but it’s interesting that the meaning of the cards to some extent seems to be representative of the fight itself, the boss “reading their future”, the cards themselves showing how confident he is that they won’t beat him.
For the hprse knight boss Ms. Chalice seems to be dashing with pink things come from behind. Maybe its a charm or could this be one of Ms. Chalice's gimmicks
I think that the knight boss is an inspiration of the old prototype boss in the original cuphead game, where there is an octopus boss and you can parry the thing on its head when it gets tired
I can’t tell but I think the new bosses are animated completely digitally this time round idk why I think this but something is just off compared to the og bosses
3 player coop would be awesome. They could make it work since bosses are harder when played on 2players, they can just make it more difficult with a 3 player mode.
The horse-knight boss might be a comeback to the idea of Jelly the Octopus, because it seems like it can only be damaged with the pink wool thing shows up, which in the octopus's case, is the anchor stuck in it's head.
There seems to be many bosses, with known locations. There is the ice colosseum, featuring the ice wizard, there is the mountain, which has the giant, there is the ladder, which leads the the castle in the sky, which is the horse knight, there is the cave, leading to an anteater, and a plane with a bulldog. There is also a cowgirl, which seems to be near the cactus.
I’m playing Cuphead right now and it’s taken me a whole year to get to isle 3 and I’m so close to the finale and when I’m done I gonna be waiting for this game !
we know that there will be at least 4 bosses, but we see 5 sections (the airport does not have a theme boss). We know that the mountains is the yeti, the ice castle thing is the ice king. the desert is the cow thing, and im thinking the village is the wizard so the airport is either where we start off at (we might get off a plane) or a boss that we have no clue on yet will be there. and with there being new wepons, we are gonna have some new run and gun levels/ hidden coins around the map so we can buy the new guns OR that will be chalices new default wepons like how cuphead and mugman start off with peashooter, what will chalice start off with as her default wepon?
The last seconds of the knight chess guy scene, we can see him walking backwards, probably resembling it's movement in the actual board game, and since the knight piece moves in an L like pattern, he might actually attack while being in the background, like a Goopy 3rd phase type of thing. And also the floor is in a chess-board pattern, so either I'm looking too far, or that is another piece that comproves this
I wonder why you fight these people in the first place. In the first game, you fight the debtors to the Devil, so I’m really excited to see how the DLC plays out.
I looked at some videos and I found a phase where The giant opens his mouth and there are 2 gnomes inside spinning a spoon insinde a cauldron and throw pink and purple splashes of goo at the player(s). And while in the first phase, there is a gnome behind the moving platforms that has a hammer and tries to attack the player on the platform.

I'm just calling it now, to me. Chef Saltibaker seems to be suspicious. To me, he seems he has strange motives. My guess. He might be the final boss towards the end of the game. Perhaps Ms.Chalice will take his place. Since, the official art book mentions she is his apprentice.
I think that how the chess boss will play out is you start out fighting the knight and when you defeat him some of the pieces may got home and next, I think you could battle the bishop or rook.after that the queen and king get home and you need to defeat the queen to win the battle because nothing is protecting the king anymore
My theory on the the horse knight thing is that there will chess pieces with act as how they do in chess and act as projectiles. So the rooks might go diagonally and the so on.

Yes, but these gnomes can be seen easily by looking at the geese, there are saddles on the geese being ridden.

The details in the tarot intro are very interesting. The 3 of Swords is suffering and pain, and the Sun seems to be headed in reverse which changes the meaning to sadness and depression, and the Moon is complexity and secrets. I doubt all that much thought was put into all of this, but it’s interesting that the meaning of the cards to some extent seems to be representative of the fight itself, the boss “reading their future”, the cards themselves showing how confident he is that they won’t beat him.

For the hprse knight boss Ms. Chalice seems to be dashing with pink things come from behind. Maybe its a charm or could this be one of Ms. Chalice's gimmicks
I think that the knight boss is an inspiration of the old prototype boss in the original cuphead game, where there is an octopus boss and you can parry the thing on its head when it gets tired

3 player coop would be awesome. They could make it work since bosses are harder when played on 2players, they can just make it more difficult with a 3 player mode.

The horse-knight boss might be a comeback to the idea of Jelly the Octopus, because it seems like it can only be damaged with the pink wool thing shows up, which in the octopus's case, is the anchor stuck in it's head.
There seems to be many bosses, with known locations. There is the ice colosseum, featuring the ice wizard, there is the mountain, which has the giant, there is the ladder, which leads the the castle in the sky, which is the horse knight, there is the cave, leading to an anteater, and a plane with a bulldog. There is also a cowgirl, which seems to be near the cactus.

we know that there will be at least 4 bosses, but we see 5 sections (the airport does not have a theme boss). We know that the mountains is the yeti, the ice castle thing is the ice king. the desert is the cow thing, and im thinking the village is the wizard so the airport is either where we start off at (we might get off a plane) or a boss that we have no clue on yet will be there. and with there being new wepons, we are gonna have some new run and gun levels/ hidden coins around the map so we can buy the new guns OR that will be chalices new default wepons like how cuphead and mugman start off with peashooter, what will chalice start off with as her default wepon?
The last seconds of the knight chess guy scene, we can see him walking backwards, probably resembling it's movement in the actual board game, and since the knight piece moves in an L like pattern, he might actually attack while being in the background, like a Goopy 3rd phase type of thing. And also the floor is in a chess-board pattern, so either I'm looking too far, or that is another piece that comproves this

I’m excited and all. What I’m not excited about is the amount of grief I’m going to subject myself to to 100% the game.
Honestly a idea I had is that they should add stuff for the aeroplanes like different bullets and abilities.
I looked at some videos and I found a phase where The giant opens his mouth and there are 2 gnomes inside spinning a spoon insinde a cauldron and throw pink and purple splashes of goo at the player(s).
And while in the first phase, there is a gnome behind the moving platforms that has a hammer and tries to attack the player on the platform.

I noticed at 5:08 Chalace did a double jump after parrying which I think might be something you will be able to buy from the shop.
I'm just calling it now, to me. Chef Saltibaker seems to be suspicious. To me, he seems he has strange motives. My guess. He might be the final boss towards the end of the game. Perhaps Ms.Chalice will take his place. Since, the official art book mentions she is his apprentice.

There seems to be a middlea ged european city in the middle of the island, this could be the place where the boss fight with the knight takes place
I think that how the chess boss will play out is you start out fighting the knight and when you defeat him some of the pieces may got home and next, I think you could battle the bishop or rook.after that the queen and king get home and you need to defeat the queen to win the battle because nothing is protecting the king anymore
I think it’s like the concept of the removed octopus where you had to party it to damage it
My theory on the the horse knight thing is that there will chess pieces with act as how they do in chess and act as projectiles. So the rooks might go diagonally and the so on.
