lol right.... Not the mismanagement of prospects.. Scratching Cole Perfetti 4 straight games in the playoffs. Adam Lowrie getting more TOI than Nick Ehlers.. Yeah its the North American spoiled arse kids. Not the underlying situations. Cutter was the same Philly wanted him to cook a couple more years instead of signed Cutter when he was ready if not draft year then draft +1. They werent so he asked out. I’d disagree they’re spoiled. It has nothing to do with the skaters.
      The rules are different.
KHL rights and the mechanism to void them are different than NCAA rules are different than CHL rules and it’s agreement with the NHL.
The result of the draft pick process is based on those rules being different.

    • @BenP-ue5zn
      @BenP-ue5zn 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For example:
NCAA skaters get name and likeness and cannot be both professional and collegiate athlete.
CHL can sign right away, get a small stipend.
KHL contracts cannot be voided unless it’s a 2way agreement. Teams can pay private Russian clubs to void the deals.
      Etc.

There's too much of a buddy system in winnipeg, and only getting rid of Wheeler didn't solve it. Stop being all about Scheifele and Connor and actually give prospects a push. The fact that Chevy has never been fired is ridiculous. The fact that only one head coach has been fired in winnipeg is ridiculous. The fact that when they hire a coach, it seems like it someone with a manitoba connection or has been with the jets before, etc, is ridiculous.
The jets need to hire someone new for the hockey operations and actually be a hockey team and business, not a buddy system.

We unfortunately haven't had a coach comfortable integrating younger talent in the lineup. Maurice and Bones both preferred mature players, that's just their style. No knock on them, every coach has their own style and preference. But because of this, we lost Laine and could be losing Perfetti as well... (The Panthers winning the cup this year is a great example, Maurice knows how to get the best from a mature team, and that's exactly what Florida is, all mature/older players and it proves the difference for him there vs here in Winnipeg. What we need in Winnipeg as we're more in a soft rebuild type period right, is some players need to move out so young talent can make its way in, not sure if Arniel is the answer for this but we'll see...

I was listening to a podcast last spring and it was reported differently than this. They were talking about the best development for Rutger and a top scout and an analyst for Michigan both agreed that staying in Michigan was the best option for Rutger bec. they are running for the championship there and he his the heart of that team. Chevy was there watching the playoffs talked to Rutger personally and saw his impact and asked what he wanted. And yes like this report says he wanted to stay at Michigan bec. he believes he would grow more there. Chevy was giving him his best path for growth. Now they were saying his current league is as good as the AHL and Rutger is already an established leader there. He doesn’t want to start over with the Moose. Rutger wants to be in a similar position were he can already make an impact to the Jets and Chevy is giving him time to do that.

For instance, if Rutger wanted to start out with the team and get the first 9 games this year as a tryout before a decision was made for the AHL this season and the Jets refused to offer that, seems pretty ridiculous from their standpoint to not offer that to the no. 14 overall pick that’s living up to expectations. Chicago and Columbus are not at the same level that Winnipeg is at, they are currently rebuilding and having young star talent is desperately needed. Winnipeg is already a good team. A GM wanting to make a young player develop or prove they are ready to be on an NHL team is normal. Unfortunately, many young American born players hear the stories about the frigid temperatures and long travel times from Winnipeg and they probably would prefer a more temperate climate, less taxes or maybe the appeal of a original six franchise?

      I really don’t think it’s entitlement.
Similar caliber players to him got NHL minutes last year and showed they could keep up like Fantilli or Nazar.
Winnipeg here is saying: “you can sign if you want, but we probably aren’t playing you.”
Why would he sign with an AHL team who literally can’t win a playoff game when he can stay with his team who absolutely can, as well as not have to go to Manitoba?
The blatant disrespect to essentially say: “we aren’t going to make an effort to make you able to play for us” only to say “well we offered, but he said no” in the same breath would make me not want to play for them either.
They literally aren’t even guaranteeing him a shot at NHL minutes, so why would he give up his ability to play where he is?

If other important Jets prospects haven't been able to make the jump to the NHL even when they've looked good in the games they HAVE gotten, why would any of their later prospects trust the path in front of them? It makes no sense. Especially when Winnipeg has as many forwards already signed or waiting for their next RFA deals as they do. Nobody smart is going to go, you know what, this might not work out for me over the next couple of years and I'm not going to be able to back out, let me go for it anyway. His camp might think he's ready for NHL action, but there's still some aspects of his game that are a WIP to become a 200 ft player. I think he could eventually contribute as a middle-6 forward but don't see him becoming a star. That said, I think the #17 pick in the draft would be a fair trade, he's the caliber of player they'd get this year in that range, unless they took a flyer on one of the more high upside, higher risk players like Greentree and he hit his ideal projection.

Those are impressive stats, please stop wasting players time, especially first rounders by not having them even have a try in pre-season and if things work well, insert him, there's place for him in Winnipeg, even if Sean Monahan was not to resign with the Jets, which is a possibility, although Monahan seems to enjoy playing in Canada, hell I'd take him back with the Habs, we'd have 4 solid centres with some who can play on the wing (Dach especially). I'd also have McGroarty be inserted right away as what we need the most is future top six wingers (which is why they might pass on Cayden Lindstrom, MTL is packed with centres and future likely multiple stars on the blue line, the goalie question will only be solved if Montembeault improves yet again, because if he does he will join the top 15 starters in the NHL pack). MTL was bad at scouting under several GM's in short periods of time, please don't make a habit, because that arena in Winnipeg needs to be full like it was in the last third of the season and playoffs, can't afford just 12-13k seats in games before February anymore. I understand the upside of not rushing a player, but if the guy is giving you an ultimatum just bring him in at end of the season and burn that year for him. Now he’s gone for sure for basically nothing. At least burning that year gets him signed and gives the team more leverage. Unfortunately ncaa players may as well just be free agents the way they get almost all the power and ability to just stay in school and sign as a free agent to whomever they choose.
