Just bought the SVHO Limited. Pricey, yes, but I know it will perform and it comes with ALL THE THINGS. Plus, the black with electric blue trim is dead sexy.
If you’re in the Biloxi, Mississippi area this weekend February 7-9, 2020 come by the Jet Blast Of Mississippi display and look and purchase a new 2020 Yamaha Waverunner!!!
Well.....normally I watch these reviews for the input about the machine. But..... I pretty much didn't hear much of the review and just admired how bad ass this machine looks....btw full disclosure I'm a Sea Doo guy. I spend a LOT of my summer on Lake of the Ozarks and totally see myself on this one following Black Diamond and its lil twin on the poker runs pool/bar hopping. First thing I thought of when I opened this review though was stated later in the review....gotta be hard to see across the water with the awsome black on black. Looks great, but best PWC big lake big boat visibility choice. Guess the adavatage of the Yamaha water spout up the back helps out there though. Btw...no clue if it's true or not, but heard either LOZ or maybe everywhere was considering making it law all PWCs had to have the water spout for better visibility to other boats. Anyways...as always great and informative review, but as I said on this one I just seemed to be more enamored with how it looked than caring how great it does seem to perform.
We take our jabs at the lack of visibility for sure, and the non-existent glove box when equipped with the subwoofer. We also praise it for its performance and handling. We're not sure what else you're looking for. When we like something, we say so.
@@watercraftjournal I am trimmed up all the way on my FX....still same problem, many many people complain about the same thing. my seadoo RXTX is way better in the rough stay nice and dry and it does have footwell drains :)
@@1blackpaper the ST3 is singularly one of the worst-riding hulls in rough water. If dryness is your primary concern, especially over ride quality, then we really don't know what more to say.
@@watercraftjournal I never said dryness is my main concern. I love everything about my 19 seadoo RXT-X hull. way way way better than the FX overall and that's my view. my seadoo doesn't sound like its going to break apart when hitting waves.... I have both 19 rxtx 19 fx. and I am NOT getting paid or freebies by any company to state my views here on youtube. the fx is a good ski for back streams and rivers....lol not for open ocean running
The complete void of ST3 Sea-Doos competing in the IJSBA World Finals Stock class, and two years of PWX national and P1 world championships from racers across the globe would disagree with your assessment. Just sayin'.
So if you had to choose would it be this ski or a seadoo gtx limited 300? Is this ski more reliable? I hear Yamaha has a better track record for reliability. I am on the fence and looking for opinion cause I may be buying either this or the gtx limited 300
The Yamaha FX SHVO 100x's over the GTX. Don't get me wrong, the GTX/RXT has THE BEST ergonomics of ANY watercraft today, but the hull design, ride and reliability of the Yamaha are second-to-none.
The Watercraft Journal thanks sooo much. Your opinion matters to me. I watch u guys every week. I love seadoo but I want a reliable, fun ski for the whole family that will last me for years to come. Both the fx svho and gtx limited are 20 plus grand here in Canada. Plus tax lol
Kevin, I know the 2021s will be out soon. Please give us the difference between the 2020 and 2021 FX SVHOs. It's stated that the 2021 GP1800R SVHO has a larger pump so holeshot and midrange are drastically improved. Thanks. Oh, 2020 has JL audio speakers, I saw that 2021 has portable speakers, why the downgrade?
I am looking for a ski but I am really confused wich one to get the fx svho limited or the sea doo gtx 300 limited could you please give me your opinion
At 18.5-gallons of capacity and averaging a conservative 5.5mph, expect about 100-110 miles on a single tank. But if you're looking to expand your fuel capacity without any permanent modifications, please do yourself a favor and purchase a Long Hauler Auxiliary Fuel System Kit on sale HERE: www.watercraftjournal.com/shop
For the SVHO engine? Boost "comes one" around 5500rpm, which is about 44-46mph. Staying around 40-42mph puts the FX in the desirable 5.8-6mpg range. Multiply that by 18.5 gallons and you've got your answer.
@@watercraftjournal Yeah but blue looks much more cool !!! Imo www.starwars.com/databank/anakin-luke-and-reys-lightsaber But in all seriousness that was a great review! I love anything yamaha. Mainly due to its endurance. Used to own a couple of xp's about 18 years ago but got tired of them being in the shop every year.
Right now, yes. 2020 saw the single largest spike in demand in the past 12 years. Unfortunately, demand is still high and ALL Yamahas have been sold in the US, so the 2021's are gonna disappear quick too.
Lame..... Darth Vader is running a supercharged ls7 swapped gp1300r. He will roast your face off on the Kamino circuit. Sebulba can't even touch him on his alcohol blown 426 hemi pod racer!

Iam getting one I what’d gp But the Black is awesome Did u do ur riva kit ur self or have someone do it
More VADER!!!! Wonder what color the numbers will need to be? Waiting for my machine.. hopefully soon. What’s your favorite riding lake?
That’s a tough one. There’s many more lakes we haven’t ridden yet that’s on our list to make a final decision.
And I just bought one, can’t wait to get it in the water
That's awesome! Tell us how you like it!
Wish the SVHO colour schemes were available for the FXHO's!
Gotta pay extra for the added sexiness.
They really do have crap colour schemes! Guess I got lucky with my FXHO 2015!
Lmaol, Kev great review. Loved the ending ha ha ha. "Tell your sister, you were right"

Appreciated!
That thing is sweet.
I definitely needs this ski

The intro video with kevin sitting on a ST3 hull with his kid, what video? :O
Every intro for our bimonthly episode includes this shot originally taken during our Chattanooga river ride video.
How do you feel about the regular FX seat vs the Cruiser seat?
Funny and great info!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
you forgot to mention how wet the ride is in a mild chop. or how at low speed the bow digs into a wave and water gets in the footwells.
That's why you've got trim control. And the footwells are a whopping 3-inches deep. Thankfully, they don't pool 5-inches of water like others do.

Literally read the article on the 2021 reveal. There are ZERO differences between 2020 and 2021 FX models.
@@watercraftjournal Thanks! Wise to wait for the 2022 model? Also, what's maximum weight limit for riders?
I can't speak for 2022; weight limits are listed online. I believe it's something like 600lbs.
Is the EcoXGear Audio kit in FX 2021 models no longer available on the feet?
"On the feet?"

Certainly! Go to www.watercraftjournal.com and read both reviews. You'll get exactly the answer you're looking for.
I'm going to be purchasing one of these, what sort of maximum range for trips would you expect to get out of conservative riding?

Subwoofer?! What else! 🤪
It eats up a LOT of room. We'd rather have the original glovebox.
It appears there aren't all the manufacture stickers on the glove box or did you remove them?
It's a pre-production unit; when we open the rear wet storage lid, you'll see the inside is BLUE, not BLACK.
@@watercraftjournal That explains the missing cleats I was going to asked about as well. LOL
What is the range on a full tank? Optimum crushing. Speed and fuel consumption rate.

0:22 anyone else waiting for the mask to fly off? lol
It nearly did (even with extra velcro holding it together)! I couldn't go over 40mph or it'd peel apart.
What's your opinion on the FX cruiser ho versus a VXR ??
Thanks
There's WAAAY too much to this question. You're going to want to read our full reviews of each ski at www.watercraftjournal.com
@@watercraftjournal I know the fx is probably better but I found a VXR leftover for $10700 compared to 14200 for the fx??????🤔
Do you want a sportbike or a BMW?
Kind of makes me want to trade my fx in on a new one. Love the all black look. Wonder if they throw in a blue lightsaber to sweeten the deal? Lol
Vader's was red. Luke, who wore all black in "Return of The Jedi" wielded a green saber.

Ugh, even attempting to mention Rey in the same level as Luke is an insult to all that is Star Wars. Booo!
What was the HP of this model ?
Yamaha doesn't advertise its supercharged HP numbers, but we have RIVA Racing's dyno chart rating a stock SVHO engine at 255HP.
spend a little more $$$$ , an my Yamaha never gave me 1 problem...d buy Yamaha , I had a friend with a SeaDo.....and it was always having problems ,
Yamaha's got some of the best powertrain reliability around.
That’s why we at Jet Blast Of Mississippi, your number 1 rated PWC watercraft dealer on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, call them Sea Don’t. Lol
Wish it had more storage 😖
Without the subwoofer, the FX has more storage than the GTX/RXT and 12gal. less than the Ultra Kawasakis.
