"This is what you get when you mess with the S.A.S!" A line from one of the 4 or 5 little mini comics that came out, as their boat flys through the air to an explosive finale. Loved this vid on my favourite team, my Panther soon stole the cobra doors and roof, dont remember the yellow roll bars though? Never had the helicopter, but I do a have blades...wonderful trip down memory lane and those prototypes are fantastic. My SAS Buckingham (I think that was his name) got a grey painted balaclava head from a frog man figure and a shotgun from a cowboy figure and showed those Red Shadows a barrel or two. Right must get back to mother's storage and dig everything out and off to ebay to get that Hawk...brilliant Analog Toys! 'WHO VIDS WINS' 👍

I can remember the Iranian Embassy like it was yesterday, I was 8 years old at the time when I watched this on the news and When Action Man made the SAS figure, I asked my Mum if she could get me one and she did, it was my favourite toy back in the day and now that I'm an adult, I'm still into figures and that's Hot Toys and it makes me feel like a kid again, even though Hot Toys are for adults.

It makes me sad to walk through a toy section at a store these days with my son and know that such great toys will likely never come again. I am fortunate to have grown up in the 80's and remember aisles upon aisles of Joes and other lines in 3.75 inch scale and the hours upon hours of fun I had. I wish I had known about Action Force and had access to them to buy back then. Truly an amazing line of figures and vehicles.

Interesting how history has affected the line, the U.S. Losing G.I.. Joe due to a combination of the vietnam war, and the rising cost or petroleum in the 1970s. While Action Man weathered the storm and events like Operation Nimrod, seemed to boost interest and sales, keeping it afloat longer.

Analog Toys I was wondering if the GI Joe line or the Action Force line is more expensive based on the size of the original 12” or the 3 3/4 inch lines. I think I’m not explaining myself correctly lol.
Also, are Captain Action and Action Man related in any way?

    • @AnalogToys
      @AnalogToys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Both lines have rare and expensive pieces but the GI Joe is far bigger and will therefore take much longer to build a collection. And no, Captain Action and Action Man are not related in any way.

22 SAS' successful relief of the Iranian embassy on May, 1980 was a tragic mirror to the US Delta Force's aborted rescue of the US embassy in Iran in 1980.
The SAA was formed by David L. Stirling in WW II as a behind the lines strike team.
The US G. I. Joe Team had only 1 SAS member, Big Ben who appeared in 1991. A rather good character, but wished he had a more imaginative codename like Excalibur.
The Action Force/G. I. Joe hybrids look great. An advantage of Action Force was that it was split into several units (Z Force/SAS) from the start: when G. I. Joe did so in the late 1980s, it just seemed forced; only Tiger Force actually looked like a natural extension of the line. The others, while having good members in some cases, was compromised with garish color schemes (ie Ninja Force), or bad premises (Eco Warriors/DEF).
The re design of the MMS is very good; and Hawk (with General Joe Colton) are the only real leaders of G. I. Joe (never Duke; he's just the Acting First Sergeant).
Great video, as always! Can't wait for Part III. Hope you'll explain why the UK Action Force G. I. Joe members became international in nature.

Watching the video again, and I like the segue into the US G. I. Joe line. Had both the VAMP Mark I & the A. W. E. (All Weather-Environment) Striker. Clutch was my very first favorite Joe along with General Flagg (my first G. I. Joe comic was #5, "Tanks for the Memories...). Liked his sense of humor and how he always baited both Hawk & Scarlett in the comics. And the AWE Striker got my attention especially after watching Chuck Norris' Delta Force movie.
The British takes on the MMS & VAMP , and Wolverine, were rather good, and the modified look for the original Snake-Eyes isn't bad, but the reissue of the US version of the Wolverine with Rock 'n Roll made no sense as he had no experience or background training in Armor, unlike Cover Girl*. A revised Steeler , or even Hawk would've made better sense.
*According to Ron Rudat, who helped design the early G. I. Joe figures & vehicles, Cover Girl was his fave female character. Can't blame him. 😇

I know you have your Action Man SAS collection 1/6”. But it would be great if, you make a video about the Red Shadows customization work in the same scale 1/6”.
Let me tell you that I am making my own action figures. Since you can find the outfits on Costwold Collectibles & Wolf Pack HQ. I think that is missing in a video yet. Regards!

My 8 y.o son only becomes interested in "Daddy's boring old toys" when its time for him to go to bed.
Tonight he curled up with me to watch this video and as Tony first appeared on camera, my son said "Daddy, He looks just like John Cena!!!" 🤣

I am a yank who grew up with GI Joe. I like the Action Force's more realistic sculpts and weapons. If they could have combined this realism with GI Joe's superior articulation, that would have been awesome.
