GI Joe was for me as a kid the ultimate toy. I loved it. My little brother and I had just gobs of them. We played with them for so long that when we got board with GI Joe we began to play Post nuclear apocalypse / Road warrior with all of the trucks and wheeled vehicles. I had no idea that many of the toys had been given the Lend Lease treatment to our brothers across the pond. This is a fantastic video. Its really interesting to see the two companies design and marketing choices with the vehicles and figures. The stories for the characters and how the toys interacted with one another. I have to say I like the Action Force camo and uniformity a little better than the Joe's which always were a polyglot of colors and patterns. Only much later did Hasbro decide to theme the figures and vehicles when they would do repaints of older toys. I like that look much better. Thank you for showing these.

The Z force tank was an amazing toy. I had one as a boy and loved it. The fact it was battery controlled and moved on its own, could change the direction and run over your enemies was always fun.

I’m American so idk about AF until recently. I like how they made 4 separate teams within AF. Where the Joes were all just one team and all lumped in together. Everyone did water missions, air missions, and so on.

Superb and glad I kept my collection.
I loved the attack cannon, a present from my dad when I was about 9 for having my back teeth removed under general anaesthetic! I remember buying it now from the Co-Op in Blackburn, still with a swollen mouth days later.
As a nine year old I always thought it was strange that Quarrel had a big face and didn’t wear a helmet when riding a bike.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to have a foot in the other camp as my cousin in Canada used to send me over GI Joe too.
Thanks for this series of brilliant videos.
I loved action force and this fantastic video series made me look fondly back and also discover some items I didn’t have/couldn’t afford/never saw in the shops (yes toy shops, remember those?).

I had a Captain back in the day. My aunt had bought it on a swamp sale. The thought he was a star wars figure and I was quite puzzled when she gave it to me. I knew it was no star wars figure, but I added him to the collection and made him a kind of rebel commander.
It was always difficult to find him, when I was done playing in the backyard. His camo was to good :-D

i didnt stop playing with action figures until about 86 or 87 when i was a freshman or sophomore in high school, in 90 i graduated and immediately started collecting action figures when i stumbled onto a used collecting store in a local flea market. not knowing such shops were actually a thing i was instantly hooked when i saw nice condition examples of my favorite childhood figure that i had beat to hell and instantly wanted to replace them , as well as the opportunity to get the figured i had wanted as a child but didnt received. so for years all through the 90s every weekend i would go to the shop and check out what new inventory had come in, he always kept a large box of loose figures that you could dig through and get pretty cheap if you saw something you wanted. one day i was digging through it and found a pretty cool what i thought was some diving figure in all black that i didnt recognize at all and just assumed it was probably from one of those Remco knockoff lines. a few years later in about the mid 90s i was in his shop and saw the coolest looking red stormtrooper or something looking figure. i asked him what it was and he told me its a Red Shadow from Action Force, that was the first time i had ever seen a Red Shadow or heard of action force. i had to wait about another 5 years till i got my first computer in 2000 before i could finally look Action Force up and start learning about it, at which point i found out that black diver figure i had had all that time was an Action Force Squad Leader, and the mystery green soldier i had also found years earlier in that random loose figure box was an Action Force sapper figure. and then i learned about the awesome Quarrel repaint of one of my favorite Joes, and finally i earned about the totally cool looking Baron Iron blood and other bad guys and knew i needed them to go with my lone Red Shadow. so you dont need to convince me of anything, Action force are awesome.

That was great Tony, thanks! The ATC and the command centre are awesome! I was firmly entrenched in Star Wars toys, and I was a little older when the G.I Joe figures came out in the U.S. I admired the line, but wasn’t interested. I had to collect Star Wars toys. Thanks for sharing man!

Great finale to the Action Force series.
Its a good thing you took your time to properly & correctly present each segment, giving each section equal time.
I also appreciate that you've ALWAYS been Objective in ALL your videos.
Again, the British take on the New Shadows is superior to the way DDP ever did when they had the Joe license (no wonder Hasbro Disavowed their entire output).
The Z Force is essentially the 'open' military side of G.I. Joe & S.A.S. is the covert/spec ops arm.
Nice! Quarrel's a revised Scarlett. In G. I. Joe lore, the R.A.M. (RApid Fire Motorcycle) is strictly Rock 'n Roll's ride, just as the later Silver Mirage Turbo Motorcycle is Lady Jaye's.
The aborted Mobile Command Center seems better than the G. I. Joe version (which seemed based after a Star Wars Jawa Sandcrawler).
The one flaw of both the Joe and Action Force HQs was that it lacked rear wall panels.

I find it absolutely fascinating that a WELL trained bad-ass special forces soldier is into toy collecting. Tony could kick in a front door and clear out an entire terrorist cell then go home and reinact his exploits with his Action Force SAS toys. It's literally amazing!!🤣🤣🤣

But he’s super clean, no stress marks, paint wear, cracks and or breaks! Came in from Malta! He was definitely on my grail list for ages. I can check that box now. Great review! 😎👍🏽

Thanks so much for posting this! The command HQ, ATC and tank were pride of place among my toys. My house was burned and all was lost except the tank. My dad rescued it from ruins of our house and it still sits in my study today. It is missing the machine gun and figure. I would love to track down the missing peices. I also loved the rebranded Gl Joe range.

Hi Tony, I've been a subscriber for a couple of years now. I don't comment often, but I wanted to let you know that you're love of Action Force, compares directly to mine of the G.I. Joe line. And while I'm one of those who dislikes 5 POA figures...it's not just AF...lol. But you've made me a fan, and I'd love to learn more by reading the original comics and I'm currently trying to obtain the characters and vehicles that will fit in with my vintage Joes. Absolutely fantastic video and what a collection!! I had some Action Force stuff as a kid, (but I always preferred Action Man). I used to cross over with my Star Wars stuff and have battles. The figures were compatible and I think I actually had the SAS Trooper piloting a Snowspeeder at one point!!
Personally, I always thought the Action Forces figures were better quality than the Star Wars figures.
I love your videos, Tony... a real trip down a memory lane of when toys were proper toys!!

Very tough to collect though, the prices have skyrocketed in the past few years. That is one of the main reasons I stay away from that rabbit hole. Maybe one day I'll find an offer I can't refuse.

What a great conclusion to a very enjoyable series! Nostalgia wheels were turning at full speed as the 5 year old me remembered all those combat teams as well as the truly menacing presence of the RoboSkull - a superb piece of toy design. To this day I can still recall my best friend's horrified response when we found out that the Z Force base was going to cost us £40 - a huge amount back in 1984 when the likes of Optimus Prime was retailing at a still expensive £20. Well worth it in the end.

They look awesome. I was too old for these but if I was younger then I would have loved them. But, Canada, eh. And I don't think we got them.
    Thanks again.

Great video Tony thank you for this brilliant series. I’ve wonderful memories of picking up these figures as a kid. They slotted in so well with my other action figures.

Great and highly informative series of videos, I loved the history and actual toy set-ups throughout. Definitely will keep my eye open for some of these figure over here across the "big pond" in the future. Keep up the good job!

Excellent video. About those grenades; apparently the Italian army used red grenades during World War II, so that may have been the inspiration for the ones on the Sapper figure.

Adam Harris I think they just made the grenades red to keep with the colour scheme of the z force

The US forces initially used grenades painted yellow in the early stages of WW2. I seem to recall that this was changed after(?) Guadalcanal because the Japanese troops could easily spot the ones thrown immediately at them, without waiting second or two, and were able to throw many back at the US troops.

Great video series, Tony. And a great collection. What's particularly nice about it, is that when you watch each episode, each one takes time to go over every figure, vehicle and accessory, and each one ties into the series as a whole, while also working as a standalone video in it's own right. And you've made me want to complete my Action Force line up. I'm starting with the SAS, as they were always my favourite.
I did own Z-Force's Skip, though. He often did double duty as the Brigadier from Doctor Who, along with a Bespin Luke as the fifth Doctor, and a General Madine of the Rebel Alliance as The Master. Or Emperor Palatine as the decayed Master, and a Lego-built TARDIS, K9 and Daleks. Yeah, I was a kid sorely in need of a decent Doctor Who action figure series in the early 80s 😅

Hi Tony, a great video to complete the series and a worthy companion piece to your Action Man feature. I discovered the channel with an Action Force toys search and I couldn't have picked a better time. Each new video in the series has been a rare and much anticipated treat which has transported this toy fan back to the happy days of the early eighties. Palitoy achieved so much in a few short years and although I am a huge GI Joe fan, I have to wonder where Palitoy could have taken the line. I'm lucky enough to own most of the line apart from a few big ticket items, although the command centre takes pride of place in my collection. Congratulations Tony for a fantastic tribute to a wonderful toy line. Perhaps you could do a vehicle versus vehicle video, World Cup knockout style, based on a series of categories to decide which Action Force vehicle is the greatest of all time. Keep up the great work.

Ah George, we were spoiled when we knew Tony always had another Action Force video on his to do list. I reckon he should combine Top Trumps and a knockout tournament for the ultimate AF vehicle face off. Categories like wow factor, playability, value for money and military realism could be used. It could be a livestream with fan votes but I reckon it could be epic! You'd love it George.
