Hope you guys enjoy this Ultrawide "live" testing of DLSS, FSR3 & XeSS with both AMD & NVIDIA cards
Do a video with Driver FG VS FSR 3 to see how big the quality difference is in games.
@@UKKNGaming fsr3 is much better, lower latency, better quality, etc.
Wonder if FSR 3 will actually work on 32:9. It actually gave me worse FPS using it with 5120x1440 vs native.
THANK YOU for this video! I was sort of disapointed at FSR having motion artifacts but I see DLSS and Native have them as well. I tried CAS and it was much better and as close to native. I will just have to get used to the motion artifacts until hopefully bethesda fixes it.
it does work doesn't matter the resolution :D@@Odin3v
very enjoyable to watch a 21:9 video in my screen, not much content like this in youtube, but i think it is so good to play games
It is indeed
@@AncientGameplays it works well for cinema view and maximized browser window for my 1440p 16:9
@@quintrapnell3605 Yep we ultra wide users are simply ahead of the curve. Love my LG 34WN780. Also good for productivity.
3440x1440 Ultrawide is best. Especially the curved and OLED one.
@@Jakiyyyyy mine is just 1080p ips and 75hz, but is quite good at the right distance :)
Tested this on my GTX 1060, went from 35ish FPS to almost 60! Good job AMD
You have lag, but definitely feels smoother
Probably 200 ms latency. Can't feel good...
@@w00t692what is blud talking about
200ms? damn son, you're delusional xD@@w00t692
@@AncientGameplays when you come up from 30 to 60 on 10 series it often has to wait quite some time to do the work.
Looks at Daniels videos on immortals of aveum on 10 series. It was getting 150+ ms.
wow! realy surprised on the 21:9 content, congratulations m8 ! i also have a ultrawide, "that is the way". Also thanks for the video.
Thanks as well 💪
Surprised there's so few videos about this, despite Starfield reception it's still interesting to check out FSR3 from a technological aspect.
indeed, especially since it is open source
Definetly one of the best Tech Chanel on YoutTube ! Thank you for this superb comparaison ! So interesting, AMD doing a very good job with FSR3, I hope to see this technology to arrive on many games !
Uuuh I've been waiting for a Review/ Look on the FSR 3 implementation in starfield; AMD Wizard deliveres yet again! \o/
Thanks, xess isn't bad as well
@@AncientGameplays Haven't tried the Beta yet, wating for the 24.2.1 & "Official Update", tho starfield is already pretty smooth on my 7900XTX (since 23.12.1)
Great video. This lets me know how much improvement I'll get once I finally upgrade my cpu as mine is not as good as yours but we have the same gpu in part of this (xtx). I agree with your assessments between xess and fsr. Sometimes I like one better and sometimes I like the other better, but that smooth framerate with fsr is a tipping point. If I could use my xtx with xess and frame gen in starfield I just might. You seem very unbiased, thanks. I'll be back.
I always am unbiased 💪
Also, xess will have framegen as well it seems, but when? That we dont know
@@AncientGameplays intel is a little behind, but I'm so glad they jumped in to mix things up.
Nice comparison & overall article!
Great video as always Fabio. I finished Starfield a while ago, but maybe it's worth going back to it and test FSR3 frame generation on my 7900 XTX.
Doing some side quests haha
Thanks for the video! The best!
Cheers for the Starfield content. It's nice to see them giving some love to the AMD guys. We desperately needs FSR 3 + AFMF in this game... I was getting a solid 70-100 fps native res with the 7700XT but keeping the fps above 100 at all times feels nice and smooth. Starfield is finally playable
@@istealpopularnamesforlikes3340 well yea AFMF is trash anyway
@@istealpopularnamesforlikes3340 I think AFMF is ok when you start from 90 fps
Firstly, love your work @AncientGameplays. I think you segment your channel very well and go into a level of detail on interesting and niche topics that are different to other TH-camrs' and I have come to appreciate your videos very much over the years. Humbly, I say, well done!
I was wondering why @ 21:05, when you swapped back to FSR3.0, Dynamic Resolution automatically switched ON? And also, how you knew it would be ON and to switch it OFF?
Not sure why this stuck out to me but it had me curious enough to comment and ask!
Thanks
It happenes before as wel but it was fixed, it seems on this beta it turns back on automatically again. Thanks you for your words btw°
@@AncientGameplays Right, so it is just a bug! Thanks for the reply I wanted to make sure it wasn't related to any of the upscale settings on purpose.
All the best, Fabio.
Fabio, awesome! So do we need to update Starfield by patch to have an option "FSR3"?
And please tell how much power does your Motherboard on AM5 comsume (maximum) ?
You need to enable beta updates
And mobo consumes almost no power
I always thought one of the challenges of FSR3 was that they couldnt get it to work with Vsync. This is actually really exciting! No need to worry about staying within your monitors refresh rate to avoid tearing and stutters.
People got confused as AMD should have done things better. FSR3 early versions NEEDED VSYNC and the frame pacing was very poor (Immortals of Aveum & Forspoken), while recent ones work very well with VRR, and can work with V-Sync as well if well implemented
@@AncientGameplays Totally agree. Forspoken (demo) was my first try at FSR3 and I really did not like it at all. But I just tried it out in starfield and V-synced, stayed at a locked 160fps with FSR3 on the 7900XTX, same res as you. And butter smooth! The input lag felt very managed as well since I've been messing around with AFMF which has wayyy more input lag in comparison haha. Great video as always!
watching on my g8 oled :) finally ultrawide videos
From time to time I release one haha
Great Stuff Pisco
Thanks
I love the UW tests as that is what I use, so seeing cards like a 4080, 4070ti super, 7900xt/xtx at this res is nice. More so 4080 and 7900xtx as that is what I am looking at still
I really want a 7900xtx, the 4080 feels like a trap that 16gb will bite it in the ass in 2/3 years. I read a techpoweredup article suggesting that AMD is going to make a big push into ray tracing with the next cards and at a reduced cost to perf9rmance so I'm waiting now to see what they will offer.
@@julianmorgan79 16gb is fine and 24gb is actually plain useless for gaming and you will be upgrading by the time it ever becomes useful. UE5 is becoming the standard nowadays and that thing doesn't use much VRAM even at UW or 4K at native, Cyberpunk native 4K PT on doesn't even use 16gb VRAM and if it did it wouldn't be playable anyway at 20fps on a 4090 at those settings. Seeing as most games are optimised around console that have 12gb, 16gb should be fine till the end of this gen and 12gb will be around what you would want to aim for. Do I 100% know the future? No but an educated guess tells me that 16gb will fine by the time you upgrade, which if you are going on the high end is usually every 4 years anyway as why would you keep a card from high end till it hits rock bottom??? Next gen AMD are not going to compete at high end at all and I can safely say they will do what they do every gen and just slot in price.
Hey what's your thoughts on making use of this technology in VR?
If it even works that is, because you can disable Quest 3's async spacewarp (which fakes frames but targets 45 fps) and SteamVR's motion smoothing (which is a worse version of FMF so to speak).
Someone claims to have a better frame average and a more smoother VR session but I'm not sure how to set em all up since VR streaming through ethernet will naturally incur latency.
Fabio, what do you think about RX8xxx series? When it should release? I'm actually without GPU. I send my Powercolor RX7900XT to warranty because of high hotspot(110°C) and after 3 weeks reseller just refund my money without any infos what happened with my card... Now I'm waiting when money is back on my account and I think which GPU should I buy? New RTX4070ti Super or wait for new RX8xxx series. Res 3440x1440 so 4070ti or RX7900XT is minimum right now. Powercolor, damn you...
I play starfield with the incredible LUMA HDR mod and the beautiful HD overhaul mod (HD textures). Now I am always surprised to see how the vanilla game looks. I will never play Starfield again without these 2 mods. The team behind the LUMA HDR mod are world class developers with immense talent and technical skills.
I played on my LG OLED G3 65' and I promise you guys, the visual improvement is spectacular. Now i can play Starfield with sharp textures and amazing HDR visuals on my Oled TV.
I invite everyone to install these mods even if it is not so easy to install them.
Both mods work on Steam and game pass.
When it comes to FSR 3 FG I have to wait the update on game pass. I hope next week.
Haven't played the game yet despite having bought it at launch lol. Should i use the LUMA mod on a first playthrough do you think? From what i see on nexus it just makes the game more clear and doesn't change the "feel" of the game per se.
🔥
So the mod is still the way to go? I mean for RTX 30 series since we can use AMD frame gen with DLSS.
If you want that combo, then yes. Nvidia did you poorly by locking fg
honestly was pleasently suprised by how good fs3 frame gen was. Let's please start getting this standardized in games now!
True
@@AncientGameplays Could be interesting doing a video comparing the FG part in some games, Nvidia FG vs FSR3 FG, quality when moving, to know how bad is AMD FG at present vs DLSS3 FG 🙏
I wish i could get this mod to work in 'The Medium', which would be the ultimate test for this mod to see how it handles those split screens
This is not a mod though
You can also have vsync off, and cap your framerate to slightly less than half of your VRR display's maximum. Cap to 70 for 144hz, 80 or 81 for 165hz, etc.
In early stages capping fps with chill wasn't working, but I need to try again!
How can I cap in starfield? they give no options, Very sad. I can do it through adrenaline overlay?
@@FrostyBud777 You can do it in adrenaline, but I don't know if it has to be capped to half or not, because adrenaline does see the frame rate correctly with FG enabled. I use RTSS for capping, and for profiles for different games. I use it without MSI Afterburner. The biggest reason I use RTSS, is because it has a hot key plug-in, and I have keys and key combinations for +/- 1 and 10 fps while in game. It's very helpful. Also because adrenaline doesn't seem to allow different caps for each game.
fyi as the latest rtss upgrade, you can monitor NVIDIA relax latency as data source
What do you feel about the latency or delay between dlss fg and fsr fg?
I did talk about that in the video. Since the first proper implementation with avatar, i can tell fsr3 fg has lower latency usually
Hey Fabio, did you ever try to use DLSS with an AMD gpu in Stafield? I know there is a mod on Nexus. I wonder if it really runs fine.
That just makes fsr run. You cant run dlss on amd cards
Yo i just tried afmf with fsr3 fg and its actually not bad. Its better with a controller because of latency ussues, but if you want 200+ fps, go for it
You do you 💪
Plissss more ultrawide master race 😍
FSR looks good. Thanks for nice video :)
I wish producers implement fsr 3 in more games like cp2077 or Alan wake 2 😁
CP2077 will get FSR 3. CDPR has confirmed that they are working on it.
Hello, good day my guy good sir. Regarding on 4:42 which is the "Chipset Driver", I'm currently using my Huawei Laptop with "Ryzen 5 3500U Radeon Vega Mobile 8 Graphics" and I don't know which AMD Chipset to download. My motherboard or baseboard is Huawei (Manufacturer), NBLK-WAX9X-PCB (Product), M1080(Version). Also I was thinking of uninstall my AMD and then install and update my new AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics, what do you think? Thank you for reading!
Did you tried FreeSync + Enhanced Sync? It should handle the cases where you have a FPS higher than the refresh rate of your monitor. I don't think you have a similar feature in Nvidia and "GYNC Compatible" adaptive sync monitors.
It will never be as good as freesync, hence why I don't use it, but it works to some extent
my 1440p monitor doesn't make it here until Thursday. Excited to to do some 1440p gaming. My favorite competitive game at the moment (The Finals) needs to add FSR3. Game actually forces you to use frame generation. It's a really heavy CPU bound game. in 1080p, it was taking 35% GPU and 65% CPU. Somewhere around there. Also, not using a mod in an online game. Would be pretty risky since that anti-cheat is already weird. I've seen EAC block Rainmeter, ableton, and other weird stuff. they were the first to ban rewasd also
I tested the finals, and the game isn't really CPU heavy mate. You must have something wrong there
@@AncientGameplays I have an ancient CPU (3600). It is pretty CPU bound. I saw a benchmarker getting stutters with a 4090 and 7800X3D at 1440p on the highest settings of course. Even when he switched everything to the lowest, he had the same exact frames. Like most competitive FPS games, top ranked players typically still play on pretty much the lowest settings anyways with their $5000+ rigs. lol
Which Monitor do you have ? :)
i´m searching atm for a good UW one
I have the lg 34gn850
They really need to optimise starfield. My 5800x3d is a bottleneck in new atlantis
L2 cache, single core and so on make it suffer. True
given how much of a mess the codebase must be and how they supposedly had barely functioning builds only like a year before the release, i dont think they will put any effort into further optimizing this game apart from maybe low hanging fruit. theyll prob release 1 or 2 DLC's to squeeze out some money and then abandon it and leave it to the modding scene
@@Linda- yeah wouldnt supprise me, Starfield feels like the biggest dud since Disney star wars movies, its a massive dissapointment that dont feel salvageable. apart from the ship building the game have zero redeemable features.
I need to know for sure if XeSS is truly hardware agnostic like FSR. It seems to be more like in between FSR and DLSS because I think it works better on native hardware (intel) more so than others.
Depends on the hardware, I heard some time ago that it should work better on Intel cards, then I tested on my ARC A770 and it was the same
@@AncientGameplays On Arc gpu's Xess runs with xmx cores so it will run faster and look better than Xess on non intel gpu's which works with dp4a mode.
dang was hoping you were going to also try fsr3+FG+AFMF
i unfortunately don't play AAA games (or fortunately seeing how poorly optimized they are today on pc) so i can't benefit from FSR3 with FG but it's nice to see that it delivers when a game includes it.
It is getting into more and more games 💪
@@AncientGameplays i believe you! but the games i play (JRPGs) don't seem to care about giving people options like these yet
@@user-us6ft2sj5q like a dragon infinite wealth has FSR3 and it works well, but that is a AAA jrpg with bad mtx
I tested Starfield BETA with the FSR3 versus FSR3 mod by LukeFZ on the Public release of Starfield with mods and I would say that the official needs improvement (which is given since its in BETA development). LukeFZ's Frame Generation produces smoother frames in between and its also giving more FPS on my RX 6700 XT at the moment.
Odd, i found the official one to be better overall. It is still on beta though
@@AncientGameplays I posted a short video in my channel comparing both. But if I started using mods on both versions of the game - LukeFZ is around 10-15 FPS higher than the official FSR3.
that's odd indeed haha@@evergaolbird
How well FSR 3 work with lower end cards like rx6600 in 1080p?
Can you make a video on it.
Watch my previous one of the mod, did it with a 6700, runs great
Nice !
Where did you get fsr 3 in starshit? My gamepass version on pc is 1.59 yours is 1.67 or something how? Did check for updates it giving me game is up to date and no fsr3 in options.
Because you have gamepass. On steam you can select the beta panel
Thank you for the video for the test tbh a 30min video didn't C the time pass 🌹🙏
This is a very waited video for me FSR vs Dlss
since I'm very struggling to chose between Rtx 4070ti super & Amd Radeon Rx 7900 XT 20GB 💪😎
Both R good but price cut $$$ 20gb vram & more fps is better from Amd but the FG & Dlss & especially on Cyberpunk 2077 it work better on Nvidia
So what do u think shall I pick!!?
Thank you ❤
Sincerely? Its a hard pick. The 7900xt is overall faster and will deliver better perf in the future. On the other hand the 4070ti super might be better right now IF at the same price of course
@@AncientGameplays Yeah totally agree the price performance is the key I'll couple month if nvidia don't reduce the price I'll go then for Amd.. TY for the advise
still waiting for fsr3 to be implemented in some good game. thankfully fsr3 mods work wonders.
Avatar, yakuza, talos principle... developers are finally moving
if you can reply this comment I'll be very appreciated
without including price difference what would be best choice?(1080p)
rtx 3060 12gb or 4060 8gb
(I think 4060 is more effective than 3060 cuz of fg and dlss 3-3.5 however vram make me little worry about future,I just wondering ur thoughts)
(btw do u think 3060 fg mod make 4060 useless?)
4060 is overall quite faster. I would just grab a 6750xt
As you said, FSR uspscaling needs a very good native TAA, otherwise it will struggle a lot to mantain stability with thin lines, even when standing still (CP2077 have the same problem). In my opinion Xess is more stable than FSR when standing still, but it tends to noticably ''brake'' when moving (maybe is the DP4a pass that struggles and with XMX acceleration this is less evident). I hope that somemody make a mod that allows us to use official FSR3 FG ingame implementation with other upscalers, instead of binding it to FSR upscaling, because this will give us users much more choice.
It has its own AA, but i believe it gets based on the native TAA to begin with
i was trying to use FSR 3.0 frame gen on my pc and the game just crashes right when i turn it on any idea if theres anything i can do to fix it
i7 12700k
32g ddr4, 3600 2x16
rx 5700xt 8gb
thanks in advance.
What do you do if your fps go above your monitor refresh rate creating tearing? Does Caping the fps a little lower that the maximun refresh rate solve it?
watch the end part of the video
@@AncientGameplays i watched it bit tou never said what i asked
I'm still waiting for anti lag+ to either come back in the drivers or be supported in games. That's the key thing that made frame gen work imo, you NEED that latency drop
Sincerely? No you dont. Not unless you're running super low fps. Nvidia's FG uses reflex at boost settings and still has more latency tha fsr3 fg
Honestly, the antilag measures of FSR3 are already quite impressive. In the game Avatar, there’s almost no noticeable input lag, even with low FPS. I’m not the only one who has observed this. I played Avatar on my old 6900XT with Ultra settings and 4K FSR Balanced, achieving around 40-60 fps. This means the real fps was approximately 20-30. Importantly, I didn’t experience any significant input lag, or I wouldn’t have played the game in this manner.
This review also provides some interesting insights: ‘Avatar didn’t seem to struggle too much with frame generation, which is typically more prone to artifacts than simple upscaling. There were some issues with UI overlays, but the rest of the screen content appeared quite decent without the need for video capture or stepping through individual frames. More importantly, the potential fps benefits of frame generation are substantial. While DLSS 3 often comes with a caveat that it adds latency - a point that applies to FSR 3 as well - the impact of this didn’t feel as noticeable, even at lower base fps (which we’ll discuss in more detail at higher resolutions).’

Anti lag + is coming back very soon. Amd said so.
All that's missing is the announcement of cyberpunk and hogwarts legacy with fsr3 and I'm set,

YES FRIEND! I have used avatar to feed the FSR3 addiction, was so excited for starfield to get it, Now I wait with both games fsr3 on fram gen on, new playthroughs till cyberpunk :) then I can finally play and finish phantom liberty :)
I play starfield with game pass. Don't they update fsr2 to fsr3 there? In the settings I can still only enable fsr 2. My gpu is rx 7900xtx
You can't select the beta build there like on steam, so you have to wait
@@AncientGameplays Damn,thanks bro🙂
Fabio, I switche from nvidia to AMD, I have followed all your recommendation regarding the installation and overclock of my 7800XT, I can't be more happy with my purchase and performance. Previously I tried the 7900XTX red devil, but I experienced many issues and that card ended falling because it was overheating. I was scare of try AMD again, but this time my experience has been really positive, the only drawback is the coil whine. Without you I wouldn't do it. Thanks for all the work you do. Hopefully it will be recompensated!
If your card has coil whine, that's a defect and you should return it. Never put up with that if you paid for a product.
Glad you're happy! For amd you want to go sapphire or asrock at this moment (imo). You can undervolt to reduce that coil whine btw
There's not a single card on top tier that doesn't coil whine to some extend, especially when new
@AncientGameplays you are absolutely right, I experienced coil whine with the previous generation, bur nothing as bad as the 1st radeon 7900xtx that I had the sapphire nitro+, it was screaming under load, then I returned and I got the red devil, I liked the design more, it also had coil whine. But it failed. I used a 4080 suprim x for about 8 months, it also had coil whine, but a moderate one, so I kept it. I don't want to return more cards, because Microcenter told me I have returned to many GPUs, and don't want to be in the same situation with other retails... Thia time I got the Asrock phantom gaming OC white, because my build is white otherwise I would picked the nitro+
@AncientGameplays one more thing, I have 2 monitor setup. I love to play games and watch videos on the second monitor. With nvidia cards the video on the second monitor is always delayed from the audio, chopped, it is not fluid at all and is reproduced poorly, I don't se many people talking about that, but with AMD it move smoothly
Is it me or the patches really fixed the game?
R5 5600 + 4070 eagle oc + tuf gaming B550m-plus + 2x16gb 3200mHz. Fps capped to 120 (TV refresh rate).
DLSS 3.5: 1440p ultra, DLAA + FG, it ranges from 75 to 115 fps. Most of the time it's between 90 and 100 fps.
FSR 3: 1440p ultra, FSR 3 100% scale + FG, without dynamic resolution and it ranges from 80 to 120 fps. Most of the time it's between 100 an 110 fps.
Same problem with light flickering and no FSR activate :'(
What's the point in locking your frame rate to 1 below monitors refresh rate?
Didn't talk about that in the video, but it should be 2 or 3 fps below in order to avoid tearing from fps fluctuations
pst what about forced interlaced for double the fps, fs3fg for quadruple the fps, afmf for 8 times the fps, and cup of Tequila for smooth anti-aliasing.
😂😂
então esse é o primeiro game que dá opção de combinar gerador quadros amd + dlss?
mas quem disse isso?
Instead of using VSync to avoid tearing, you'd better use AMD Chill. No tearing anymore and no input latency added.
It previous did not work with Radeon Chill, hence why I said that, chill wouldn't simply lock the fps
bro plz help im using vsr in amd adrenalin. i upscale from 1080p to 4k when playing bf 2042. BUT THE GAME KEEPS MINIMIZING ITSELF WHEN RUNNING FULLSCREEN
that's a game thing I guess or some app is "picking" it
May I ask what overlay that you using?
Msi afterburner
@@AncientGameplays Oh damn, I didn't recognize it.. Thanks!
is there a way to use AMD frame gen on an nvidia gpu but instead use DLSS as upscaler?
Also do you know why I can't locked my frames when using frame gen from drivers. In starshit it seems going above my refresh rate 175fps and it coursing tearing. When I try to use adrenalin chill it turns off frame gen I tired riva tuner statistic not working aswell
you keep calling it starshit and you keep talking about shit that has nothing to do with the game though. You need to use v-sync as shown in the video. Radeon chill doesn't work, and if you lock fps with afterburner it won't be smooth
@@AncientGameplays it's an t9 doing it. As on the release I called it starshit and it just replacing the word for me now. Regarding vsync I'm using vsync and with frame gen it's not locking my frames to my refresh monitor. Not sure if it's something with gamepass version of the game but vsync on or off it goes above my 165fps.causing massive tearing. I'm using Rx7900xtx BTW. Can't seem to find a fix for it
gamepass doesn't even support FSR3 from what I know...@@Progamer-jv8mb
No but you can turn on frame gen from newest drivers and its working the only problem i have is i cant locked frames to 160fps they going higher causing tearing @@AncientGameplaysso native i have 100 /90fps but 1% lows are getting to 60 that's when game feels not good enough on 165hz monitor. With drivers frame gen on I'm getting 180fps and 90fps 1% lows that's where game feels smooth but experience is broken by that tearing above 165 which i cant locked with anything. Vsync on monitor refresh down to 60 Riva statistic tuner and adrenalin drivers nothing seems to lock my fps
Hey Fabio, remember the room where you got over 200 FPS with FSR3 + FG ON with the 7900 XT?
You could just ALT+R to enable AFMF to get over 400+ FPS 😂
But...why?
@@AncientGameplays just for the laughs 😅 No valid reason. Just to experience a 400 fps for a few seconds, haha. Anyways, keep up the good work Fabio! Been watching you regularly for some reason. Recently bought the Rx 7600. Not sure how the performance will be or even if it is DOA :| Did not unbox it yet 😅😅
You can control sharpness in graphics settings of the game.
Where? Didn't see it all as shown
I tried CAS and it is so much better upscalling than FSR! Please try CAS. I get so much jaggies and artifacts with FSR on doors and posts, it is very distracting. CAS fixes most of this but then I lose frame gen :(
CAS is basically sharpening only, and FSR2 was kind broken before, it is quite better now
@@AncientGameplays I did the same test as your video and I tried CAS at 75% and the jaggies were gone! I was surprised, Please try it sometime, I was amazed! Higher Fps and no motion artifacts!! :)
I will try though, I was not running at 75% because that's not quality mode haha. I did run at 80 and 90% at the end and it is was much better though@@FrostyBud777

ngl the things most tech people point out can be hard to notice in gameplay unless you are looking for it, at least to me when they say oh y looks worse than x and it's something they zoomed in on it doesn't change my mind at all lol.
it needs to be zoomed because it is hard to see on video, not hard in real life lol. Or were my eyes zooming while I was playing as well?
Frame Gen works well
@@AncientGameplays I get that don't get me wrong, the conversation around this stuff just always feels a bit exaggerated at times...idk i'm probably overthinking it lol.
well of course especially when tech tubers want to show the difference and show people the true quality of each feature but sure if youre okay with lots of bluriness then go ahead
@@Eleganttf2 Yet it's not even that bad, yes dlss is better but some of you act like anything else is just unusable lol. There are time where it does stick out, but not all the time or at least not enough for it to be that big of a deal and it always varies from game to game.
huh none of this shows on my steam deck using the gamepass version (local, not cloud). not xess, not fsr3... that sucks.
[edit] oh i've missed an APU update back late last year. i thought we were still stuck on the 2022 driver. anyway, gonna install that now and try again
you need to select the BETA update on steam
@@AncientGameplays ah. that explains it. well since i use gamepass i'll have to wait till it's out of beta.
Amazing breakdown as always! Love seeing the direct comparisons.
God I can’t stand Starfield’s hideous green hue… I had to mod that game so much to make it even playable for my eyes and then I got to characters faces and I wanted to die… 😂
True haha
Starfield FSR3 on the rog ally with mods is dreamy
I have an rx 6600 xt and only 8 gb of ram if I get 16 gb this game would gain a lot of fps or not
thanks
your issue is not the 8GB per se (not usually), it is the fact that your overall computer doesn't have enough power
Do I understand correctly that frame generation is not suitable for competitive games due to input delay?
Input latency will be the same or less as you have base, but higher smoothness. Wont be anything to use unless you have a high refresh rate monitor though
Spent few hours switching back and forward settings.. In banishers..aorus 6800xt.. 34" 3400x1440 and felt.. That.. Turn off fsr + frame Gen is nice for eyes.. Ofc every video card has her own solution.. For my 6600xt fsr is must have in cod mw.. Anyway I was so pushed up by your video in scale details so I made myself research so is the results.. Sorry for bad english lol mother rusiya ❤😂
glad that I could help in some way haha
I have rx 6700 nonxt. Is FSR3 worth it for me at 1080p or am I better off running natively?
Nothing like trying to see if you like it.
It will work with some games better than others, go case by case.
i think the 6700 doesn't need FSR at 1080p, it has enough VRAM IMO, at 1440p though, i think it would need it. But maybe i'm wrong, i don't have a 6700 non xt, i have a radeon 6800 non xt which is quite a bit more powerful
You can use fg without upscaling, so yes
Please test it and come back and let us know
Enabling vsync fixes the frametime issues with FSR Frame Gen.
Because you're not at max fps anymore. I enabled vsync in the end
@@AncientGameplays I have it set to "On" globally through Nvidia control panel for G-Sync, yet the frametime was still weird. It only got better when I enabled it through the game, don't know what's going on with that.
Enable the in game one
Which do you prefer . 4070 vs 7800 xt ??? 🤔🤔
Same price? 7800xt
FSR 3 and FG works horribly on my 6950XT. Lets say a scene is giving me 50 fps(freesync on) without FG. You can see and feel the sluggish frames, the frametimes are dreadful. FG turned on and the fps doubles but it feels and looks the same. Either something is broken or the feature is just poor on my hardware.
Nah, your base frame is low so the fg doesn't work that well, or of course, you're going out of your monitor's range
@@AncientGameplays its the same with a base fps of 70 and all testing was within vrr range
Starfield is one of the most well implemented cases of FSR3 FG, i was using Nukem mod dlls3 to fsr3. i have 75hz monitor, using 3070 and running cpu bottleneck, with FG i delete some cpu bottleneck, go up to 73fps totally stable with ultra, DLAA, FG On, vsync on and reflex on + boost to reduce a little bit of input lag. I tried the same in CP2077, image in motion is broken, ghosting is really noticeable, running a police motorbike the front glass literally disappears at high speed, much less smoothness than Starfield despite having the same 73fps and config, vsync is forced in Nvidia panel, reflex works also at least on, but it has all the image issues u can find when moving the camera. I believe CP2077 FSR3 FG implementation will be really difficult.
The new titles with fsr3 framegen work well. Talos principle, starfield, avatar, etc.
@@AncientGameplaysAnd there you have it - a gamer who is perfectly content with a frame rate of ‘just’ 73 fps. ;)
people can even be okay with 30 fps, but I am not xD@@1ch0
and the sponsor is: MAXIMUM SETTINGS
Haha 💪💪
19:29 this is due to not having vsync enabled, AMD recommend you enable it for a smoother experience when using FSR 3's FG
if you mentioned something about this, my apologies if i missed it
I literally said that's because I was over the 160fps and that was tearing lol. Also, FSR3 FG is advised to NOT be used with any v-sync at all, not the opposite.
i literally talked about tearing in that part you mentioned xD
No need to apologize@@crackheadjonezzz
ah, not too sure about that as they stated in the steam post of the starfield update: 'This new feature allows for a combination of upscaling as well as advanced frame generation, boosting your framerate for better performance. While AMD’s FSR 3 works for a wide range of video cards, you will want to verify that your system supports it so that you get the best experience. It is also recommended to use FSR 3 with VSync ON and with a VRR monitor for the best experience.
'.@@AncientGameplays
the driver version of frame gen (afmf) is to be used with vsync disabled but the fsr3 implementation is to be used with vsync enabled. They specify this on their website @AncientGameplays @@AncientGameplays
very nice video
Thank you
👍
It took this video for me to truly understand “shimmer”. Now that I do… I don’t think I’m experiencing any of it. I must have terrible eyes during gameplay!
the higher the resolution the less shimmer you have as you have more pixels. You won't perceive it as much as well the further you are from the monitor
i always got nervous when recording, so plays wont be good, its always been bad so worse
isnt the flickering light cause of you use motion blur?
Not really, as seen in non moving shots
5:20 Fabio, what are you talking about. You are describing FSR 1.0 my dude, regarding FSR taking the game's own TAA and using it and why it may look "bad".
FSR 2/3 completely replaces a game's TAA solution, same like DLSS or XeSS does.
what I meant was that the worse the game's TAA implementation, the worse FSR works, seen that dozens of times... The opposite also applies. FSR has its own "AA", BUT, what I said still applies sadly. CP2077 for example, native AA got worse? FSR sucks. Other games where native AA is better? FSR works better as well, and so on.
Cheers
Well well well finally FSR3 made it into Starfield. It just works fine on my GPU, but it does not make Midfield a better Game... sadge!
I get around 90 fps instead of 50 to 60 in bigger Settlements like New Atlantis or Akila. @ upscaled to 4K
Now i just hope that in march Dragons Dogma 2 will have FSR3 from the Start! Or i need to Upgrade my old and slow 6800 😅
dragon's dogma will be interesting
А может проблема гостинга на nvidia в том, что 4070ti изначально выдает меньше реальных кадров, чем 7900xtx, не?
Not really
Hoping this makes my rx6700 play better for starfield till I get my rx7800xt
i personally use a frame rate limiter with vr enabled rather than v sync
In this game it won't work well
@@AncientGameplays why not
Im waiting for starfield to have mods cuz it just ended too quick
Cool video, but at 5:30 you are wrong Fabio. FSR2 has its own anti-aliasing just like DLSS.
Thanks but you missed the point. Fsr3 does not use ai upscaling and the worse the taa implementation the worse fsr gets. Saw that accross several games, i do know it has its own AA of course
@@AncientGameplays But does the game let you use FSR3 frame generation together with normal TAA? Because in other games (that I tried at least), you can only use native FSR + FG or upscale with FSR + FG. No standard TAA.
If it's like that my point still stands. Keep up the great videos tho!
I used FSR 3 100%, FG my FPS whit vsync was 60 but reality was 30 and it work well and that is what I whis FG in single player games, to lock 30 and boost 60 to save power and other parts.
why save power with such low amount of FPS?
@@AncientGameplays It trop power about 300w to 150w if I used FG and Finland have long winter and electrycity is expensive. It work very well when PC fps is 60 and use vsync.
if your GPU needs 300W to run 60fps you must be running some damn old machine there, but you do you my friend @@teemuheino1187

I'm on the same 3440:1440. Cyberpunk native has a lot of these kinds of artifacts. XeSS gets rid of most artifacts you see here, and on my 6950 I much prefer it than FSR2 even though FPS uplift is much lower. Strange that here, in Starfield, XeSS work rather poorly.
From what I have tested in beta frame generation is probably some old version that doesn't work with VRR/Freesync (just like Forspoken and Immortals), it's far worse than Avatar and Yakuza FSR3. Something went wrong...
nope, it does work perfectly, you have something wrong there and that's for sure. Tested even with my 8700G APU and it worked well. I mean, it works well as seen and explained in this video. Also, the frametimes in IOA and Forspoken were crazy bad.
@@AncientGameplays Thanks for answer. But reality is for me it works just like Forspoken while Yakuza works flawlessy. I have the newest WHQL drivers for 6800:

Frametime is all over the place and refresh goes to maximum 120hz wjnen it should be matched with framerate.
are you having flickering and stuttering oN VRR as well? I have to keep frame rate at 120 perfeclty or i got flickering at 100-110 fps. Is this the issue you are talkign about/ Just lower settings increase resolution until you are getting 120 fps the entire game.
@@FrostyBud777 It's fine when framerate is 120fps but this is exactly what was happening in first FSR3 game. In like a dragon gaiden ouput framerate after fsr3 can be 96 for example and my tv is getting 96Hz, exactly like how VRR should work, here it has to be 120 otherwise it stutters and no matter the framerate tv is getting 120hz. Implementation is broken.
YES i get bad stutter if not at 120

As an Arc A-770 user I can confirm XESS on an intel card looks about the same quality wise as DLSS does on an Nvidia card. Cards I used to compare were RTX 4060ti and the A-770.
@elcactuar3354 You gonna be alright?
I have an arc a770 and tested before xess on intel cards and while the older versions worked way better on intel cards, the newer ones are more or less the same, just loose way less perf on intel cards.
