My biggest problem with GW is the very low amount of boxes which they release. Whenever a new army box/kill team box/... is created, and it is any good, it sells out faster than snow can melt on a sunny summer's day. Then again, I guess it is a blessing in disguise, as it means that I am buying less miniatures.
I’m new to the hobby and I definitely agree that cost has proven to be a problem with regard to convincing my friends to get into it as well. I started with Custodes and, even as one of the cheaper factions, it still felt expensive. Trying to get my friends into other more expensive factions that catch their eye…it’s an uphill battle to say the least.
Combat Patrols now are supposed to be a game mode, not a real collecting box. Problem is their new purpose comes with no replacement, so they feel like true starter boxes. Obviously all points about the new patrols being awful stands
But they are still the main way of getting into the game. There is no reason for the prices to rise and the contents to shrink. It's typical enshittification.
I'm embarrassed to say I'm interested in Warhammer 40k because of the prices; beyond embarassing, I am actively unsure whether it's ethically acceptable to recommend the hobby to others anymore.
As someone relatively new to the hobby, i have to agree on the roadmap issue. I am an aos player and bought the ironjawz christmas box and would like to buy the new released spearhead for it... BUT as i dont know the roadmap and they only announced something for the death alliance and as my main army is ossiarch bonereapers. I prefer to wait and see what death alliance will get, if it is for my main army, before i buy something for a second army... Not knowing what will be realeased, i prefer to wait a 2-3 month period to buy then released stuff to be sure i dont miss stuff for my main army ... like now with las vegas open, i will see what they will announce and i guess we will know for the next 2-3 month period
can't really fix pricing sadly, it's just capitalism and sharholders in the end. Howlong gw doesn't buy their stocks back i doubt prices will keep going up with everything else in the world. It's more than fair to be annoyed / mad at it but looking at it in a vacuum is useless and will only spoil your posetive hobby energy. the roadmaps they could def have done a lot better, i really dislike the current ones the website i have no problems with and old models need time to get replaced. (that said i wish they would make more legends warscolls for aos like 40k has, that said most are easy to convert)
Not a 2024 thing but the thing I notice most is the deterioration of the artwork. I am suspicious if its even done by humans anymore and not just created by AI. Either way its boring, generic, uninspiring and off-putting. I think its impossible for anyone employed by an entity to produce actual art. 10th is the first edition I haven't bought even 1 codex. Those books have zero value to me anymore.

GW is going to be in real trouble when the global recession hits and nobody can afford the plastic crack.
