Right on. I am 49 years old from the South Bronx so I know too well the conditions that brought about those “Broken Windows” and I have be a victim of several unwarranted Stop and Frisks, racial profiling etc. I am also A John Jay Collage of Criminal Justice Graduate, BS in Police Studies 2018) at age 45. The real reasons for crime In the Ghettos of America are Drug and Gun related, which we also know are never going to be addressed because to much money is being made in our Military Industrial complex as well as the prison industrial complex so the subsequent crime is the “cost of doing business “ , and collateral damage but as we all know but too often marginalized groups are scapegoated . Thank you for making this video.

@@dedeferreira98 I don’t think you understand how precious the 4th amendment. If you nothing to hide, the government has nothing to look for.

I wonder if she Eli Silverman & John Etreno the crime numbers game.
They talked about how NYPD manipulate crime stats in their favor. As well as how dept chases better compstat numbers Encourage officers worst behavior. Great video.

It definitely fits, right after 9/11, in NYC, for this policy to have been implanted. After being tramatized by the attacks, at the time it only made the "average" person a peace of mind. Boy did the rights just kept getting taken away. More of police state

I’m going to throw a wrench in your theory. If you increased the number of officers available within a city from 50 to 500 crime statistics will go up because opportunities to report those crimes are more available to the public. Also something that really needs to be taken into consideration is the amount of calls for service in one particular area or division over another area or division. We’ll use the number of calls for service in the city of Los Angeles as an example. In 2021 LAPD 77th division, a south Los Angeles neighborhood composed of primarily Black and Hispanic residents, had to respond to approximately 77,300 calls for service. LAPD West Los Angeles division, composed of Jewish, Caucasian, Iranian, Armenian, Hispanic, and Black residents, took just under 34,000 calls. 77th division deploys about 20 officers per 12 hour watch, while West LA deploys 8 to 12 officers. The fact that 77th deployed 8 more officers on average, doesn’t have any bearing on that number of calls for service received and crimes reported.

Racial profiling is just as valid as any other kind of profiling. Whites have a right to challenge blacks "why are you here?" in white neighborhoods. Trayvon Martin is a perfect example. He was a thief looking to commit more burglaries. If a black was invited into the neighborhood by a home owner, fine. But this is just like any gated community. It is a security measure for the residents. If you don't belong there, stay out. That is NOT over policing. It is common sense security.

There’s always a question of whether the amount of stops of one demographic is proportionate to another. Well, let’s look to the crime reports filed by victims. Is the assumption that if all crimes in a city are reported, the number of assailants identified would be equal among the ethnicities? This is literally, NEVER the case, the statistics, never bear this idea out. Meanwhile if you want to talk about proportionality in practice, here’s what that looks like.
77th division stopped 200 Hispanic males this week, so we need to call over to central division and let them know their officers need to stop at least 190 to 210 white people, and reach out to Olympic division and have them stop 200 Asian people.
Sounds absolutely ridiculous doesn’t it? Or how about when we experience a rash of shootings between two black gangs over repeated retaliations. Should there be an announcement at roll call, “hey guys, we have to cut off the number of stops of black people because we hit the threshold. Wait until after the victim is shot and gives a new suspect description”

Interesting. That part about these stop & frisk events happening mostly in white neighborhoods makes sense from the point of view of the police trying to prevent burglaries etc. in the neighborhood. Not that it made it right or constitutional. If increasing police presence doesn't prevent burglaries and other crime in an area, what does? I don't see how we can solve poverty in a timely fashion (since you said that's one way of decreasing crime rates.
Considering most crime goes unreported and most crimes that are reported are not solved and even when they are solved the punishment is often too lenient, i don't see any optimistic outlook on the future of crime and safety of American communities. I tell you what, we either need some sci-fi solution like an army of robocops capable of solving crime with ease (and it's scalable you can always build more robots), Minority Report (they are already implementing these kinds of ideas in the real world www.scmp.com/tech/science-research/article/3004167/minority-report-style-crime-prevention-artificial )
Or maybe some day we will all have our free will taken from us in some dystopian big brother scenario where a benign Artificial Superintelligence knows what everyone is doing and prevents all crime because it's a godlike being.
Maybe the human condition is bio-engineered away with gene manipulation and other measures. In this way we could dial everyone's aggression down and dial their empathic capabilities to the max. This scenario would be cool but would take decades and centuries.
Maybe...yeah there is no realistic projection of any future where we have solved this crime issue.
