Great video Kate as ever! Can’t get on with that headlight arrangement at all. A face only a mother could love. That “urban camo” needs to go as well!!
I have no interest or need for another bike right now but I do enjoy your videos so much that I watch everything you post. It's that enjoyable for me. I honestly believe you have the best walk-around, ride and places of interest videos out right now.
Another top video Kate with all the numbers, details and anything anybody needs to no regarding the suzuki. What makes the video for me though is the humour aswell at the end. Really well put together Kate. Fantastic well done 👏
Interesting vid and bike Kate. As you say who is it aimed at? Well one group you missed was guys like me, older riders, no longer bothered about having 150hp (been there done that) not worried about rider modes either (we grew up on analogue bikes that control was 100% in your hands) so if the price is right then these might be an alternative...they're now knocking these out new at £9k so that is really interesting. Given that the GSX8 has now landed probably not around for much longer!
Excellent first walk round the bike Kate. Interesting move by Suzuki but I'd be more confident of it's success if they'd confirmed that it could be fully derestricted to 150 bhp when applicable. The hardware (although a step down from the 1000) would be perfectly able to cope with the full power.
You're correct...all the usual TH-cam suspects have missed this model...budget bike, but like it's big sister and the Katana,it's cheap to de-cat the exhaust, get the hacksaw or the grinder out,mid-sections and cans are a plenty...plug and play, electronics are no doubt out there too?
All K5 motors are 130bhp ARW,(Moore's Mafia),and it cost the exact same to get ALL K5s to 150 at the wheel...given old stock ones are as low as £7500,it's the one to go for,set it up for way for less mulla, cartridge fork inserts, etc! I believe cruise control is available also, from the Aussies? Best of the bunch, for value!
Nice looking bike, your right hand and your head control your ride, as for insurance my son at 19 had to pay £2000 to insure his A2 compliant MT07, with 2 years no claims, for the first year of ownership.
Wow that's a fair bit of 💰 hardly worth it for the young people now with the test being best part of £1k for the full licence and £7200 for an MT-07 and nearly £100 Road tax
Gotta be honest I thought this was an L'Oréal advert at the start, that hair in the wind hahaha. Kate that back caliper is missing a bolt ? Great review, nice that you had a rare bike on your channel that no one else has vlogged. I don't quite get the price and the 55bhp difference though, albeit I get the A2 compliance idea.
Glad I did direct access years and years ago and got my licence in a week and didn’t have to faff with all this. It’s an ok bike I suppose. I still prefer my V4 Tuono Factory but I don’t suppose that’s aimed at the same rider 😆
Great option for an A2 licence holder, even if the price is slightly steep. Not sure about the carbon look panel above the headlight on the back on the TFT, just looks like it has smudges on it
Mmmmmmm novel idea from Suzuki, I guess the additional production costs must be outweighed by the (potential) market for something like this. As it’s essentially an existing model, you’d assume those costs are fairly minimal, well relatively. However, I do wonder if they’ve come over all ‘Honda’ and introduced a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. I guess time will tell. Thanks for including this review though, Kate. Great job. 👍
We don't have these in America. Probably because we don't have the weird license stuff going on. Here you start with a permit, which allows you to do everything but ride passengers and ride at night/ go into neighboring states. Then you get your license which allows you to do everything. There is no Horsepower restrictions. A first time 16 year old could be riding a S1000RR around. Wouldn't recommend it but it is possible lol
Very interesting video although I'm not exactly sure what Suzuki are up to here as it seems a bit wide of the mark to me. Why discontinue the GSXS750 to make a strangled version of the 1000? Presumably cost but I'm not sure who's going to buy one, especially if it can't be derestricted. With that said, if it's electronically restricted, I would've thought it could still be liberated fairly easily but with that spec I'm not sure I'd want 150bhp. I personally don't think this will be around long as it seems a bit of a dead end to me.
@@eskemeldgaardkrogh4145 Agreed, that 750 engine is great & I understand about Euro 5 issue but what I meant was, why didn't Suzuki make the effort to update to get it through Euro 5 instead of just neglecting it & then they wouldn't have needed to make the GSX8S. Also if Suzuki were insistant on discontinuing the GSXS750, they shouldn't have bothered with GSXS950, as the GSX8S could have had the same 94bhp where as they strangled it so they're not too close to each other. This bike can be A2, but then you unrestrict it when your restriction ends and boom 94bhp, and no need to buy another bike 😁 I think that's the logic Suzuki are going with 😊 thanks for the kind words!
The value equation is tough to rationalize. The 1000 gives you much more power and a lot better spec for barely any more money. Better off just getting one of the many excellent A2 bikes on offer, then move up to the 1000 when you get your full license, IMO.

Is there a de-restricted version of this bike ? 94bhp for a 950 seems a bit low... The old gsxs 750 put out 114 bhp, I'd expect this to atleast put out 130+ bhp.

it's a perfect bike for someone who wants to slow down a bit. The only that is wrong is the UK price. In the EU, this bike costs around £8500. 95hp is more than enough for all street scenarios. I had z1000sx and I don't think I have ever used even 60% of the 140hp I had. Fantastic bike IMHO

Haha thanks as always Stevie! Appreciate you man! 👍🏻🙏
@@UsernameKate no worries lovely
@@UsernameKate I saw a fantastic bike a new type of harley Davidson in st Helens today I thought of you ride safe lovely 🤩
I think that urban cameo look is actually supposed to be broken carbon fibre look. Don’t like it either way, lol.
an A2 950? ive got a chocolate teapot for sale
I don’t know.
Isn’t this bike an answer to a question that nobody asked?
I thought that but then remembered that BMW did something similar with the F800GS and the softer F700GS and are still doing it now with the newer F850 and F750. Perhaps some people just want a softer version of a lusted after "Bigger Bike"?
it's a perfect bike for someone who wants to slow down a bit. The only that is wrong is the UK price. In the EU, this bike costs around £8500. 95hp is more than enough for all street scenarios. I had z1000sx and I don't think I have ever used even 60% of the 140hp I had. Fantastic bike IMHO
Bart makes a good pitch for the same licensing scheme in America, to the effect that we could save a couple thousand young lives a year. Worthy goal? Hummmmm.
94hp from a 1000cc 4 cylinder, well that's something! And that something is not very good. Why would anyone buy a liter bike with power of 600cc from 20 years ago?
I don't need traction control I can just lose traction fall off and slide down the road on my ass !
You think I'm revving it hard enough for it to kick in? 🤣
@@UsernameKate I've never had mine kick in. But I guess that's a good thing I have activated the ABS on the back wheel. But at least I know it trying to lock up. Without abs I end up locking up the rear wheel without really knowing. You're getting so good now you have gone full time at this it's great getting more of you.
Thank you so much Chris. I appreciate all your thoughts and comments you know! 👍🏻
Decals... like dee Cals, not like Ant and Dec
Tomato, tomato, potatoe, patatoe 🤣
@@UsernameKate 😂😅🤣🤣
Do insurance really discriminate based on gender ?
They are guided by statistics.
@@UsernameKate I know and it is fine, I could just imagen if it was the other way around.
Suzuki, why?
how beautiful you are
Thank you 👍🏻
A2 compliant 1000 is not a real 1000
What a dumb bike with this kind of ristriction😂😂....suzuki should not build this kind of bike....better stay on gsx s 1000
