Dear Sister Edwards, I normally don't leave comments, but I just had to thank you for this message and song. It is beautiful and exactly what I needed to hear this Christmas! My family moved across the country this fall, and through a series of challenges and setbacks, we find ourselves in a situation far from what we pictured we'd be in at this point in the year. We're renting a space where we physical have no room for Christmas decorations, the kitchen is such that we won't be doing much Christmas cooking, and even having presents for my kids to unwrap is tricky due to our space limitations. I kept having this thought of how we just don't have room to celebrate this year as our family traditionally does, and I kept trying to think of how to still make it special for my kids (who are all very young). Eventually, thoughts of the innkeeper came to my mind, their shared predicament of "no room" striking me as I realized the one thing I do have room for this year IS our Savior. Despite my efforts to teach my children and focus on His birth more in recent years, I realized this was a huge opportunity to hone in on the real truth behind our celebrations this year. This song confirmed these impressions to me so strongly, I cried. Thank you, THANK YOU, so much for this wonderful message. May we all think more about Jesus this and every year!
Wow. Thank you for sharing your beautiful message. I wish everyone could read it! It's always in the hardest times that we learn what's truly important and meaningful. Our most meaningful Christmas was when our 4-year-old daughter had to be admitted to the hospital on Christmas Eve. She had cellulitis, and we almost lost her. We didn't get to opening our gifts until a week later when she came home. But nobody cared. We were all just happy she was well and we were together. *And I've never approached Christmas quite the same again. May you have the best Christmas ever. Shawna
Thank you for sharing your experience❤️. Part of the joy of writing… is hearing your stories. Our hearts and prayers extend to you… grateful for the hand of God who knows our circumstances perfectly ❤️. Sometimes just a small shift in perspective, can change all of it. ❤️
I would say your ward is so lucky to have you, but really ALL our wards are so lucky to have you! Thank you for this beautiful song that emphasizes what we're doing this all for. I love it!
Zions Youth Choir was so grateful to have the opportunity to work with Shawna, Carrie, and team! It truly was a blessed experience! One we will never forget. We had the opportunity to sing this song at the Tabernacle on Temple Square the night before this video released. Many were visibly touched and commented that it was the most powerful song of the evening! I am so excited to intentionally make each of the next 24 days, "more about Jesus". (Why stop there? 365!)
Thank you, Jaron, for giving us the opportunity to work your choir. The kids - and their parents - are so great. It was a privilege to work on this project together. And I will also never forget the filming day. One of the most miraculous and magical film shoots ever! We couldn't have done it without you.
I was blessed to attend the Zions Children and Youth Choir Concert at the Ogden Tabernacle last night. It was wonderful! I loved this great beginning of my Christmas celebration this year. The whole concert was great and this song at the end really added a special touch to the night. Thank you so much for the music and the spirit it brings. I've shared this video with many friends and family and I just keep listening to it over and over today.
@@jessiebarton292 Oh I wish I'd been there! I heard the concert was amazing. I had planned to come, but...LIFE! I just couldn't make it up there, unfortunately. Thanks for letting me know about it. I'm so glad the choir was involved.
This song and video are the result of the efforts of SO many good people - I would say about a dozen people who put in hours of preparation, and almost 100 more who showed up the day of filming and/or the night before to set up. I'm thankful for every one of them.
Thank you so much for your wonderful Christmas songs. I have been out of work for 16 weeks and have had much in the way of disappointment; rejections, no response, let downs, complications, jobs posts not taken down etc. But I do have an interview tomorrow for a permanent role which I am hopeful about. I have kept going in spite of adversity and the time of year when companies are winding down, and showing resilience after let downs, trusting in my Lord. I haven't looked forward to Christmas until the past few days and have felt the love of the Lord in that time too. Songs like this keep Him close. If I have a job offer before Christmas - even if that means a new year start - it will be an amazing Christmas present for me!
It is no small thing to trust completely in the Lord. I have a friend who calls these times, when your faith is tested, "holy places of uncertainty." May you continue to feel the love of God. Sending prayers your way.
This really is a beautiful and powerful song! It brings in the true meaning of Christmas. It will be a wonderful addition to our Christ-mas songs. Thank you for letting us be a part of it!❤
You have outdone yourself with this song! What a beautiful theme and one we need to hear more-"that less may be the way to find more sacred time to worship at our savior's side."
Beautiful! I love your music-and even more-I love teaching it to our ward primary youth. They really connect with it and the deeper messages. Thank you for sharing your gift! 🧡
Shawna, it turned out beautiful! It was such a blessing for my family to be a part of this. Thank you again to you and Carrie for sharing your beautiful music with the world!
Being a part of this with Shawna and Carrie was such an incredible experience!! The song has such a beautiful message and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of it with you!!! Thank you!!! We love you guys!! 🥰
I love this song and loved the whole experience filming this video. Thank you Shawna and Carrie! You are both amazing and this song and opportunity meant so much to me. Thank you! I now have a new song in my list of favorite Christmas songs.
Carrie and I decided to write a song together back in the spring. We talked about how at Christmastime, there's so much focus on stuff that isn't even real. On things that don't matter and don't last. All this - when we sometimes just forget about actually celebrating the birth Jesus! We actually wrote 3 different songs before we ended up with this one. But when we landed on the "A little more peace on earth, a little more light, more joy to the world and a few more silent nights" chorus, we knew that was the one. Christ can give us so much more than the world can give - at Christmas and all through the year.
When we were tossing around ideas… I was sitting outside in my car waiting for my daughter’s basketball tournament and I was trying to think of a topic that felt worthy to share with the world at Christmas. The emphasis on the myth versus the reality of the season kept bothering me… Shawna had felt similar strong impressions on the topic. Shawna re-wrote the chorus a couple of times-the first time… to “All about Jesus”which I LOVED, then again just a few weeks ago, bringing in the idea of what God gives back to us when we make Christmas, “More” about Jesus instead. I knew she had nailed the message with that. I read a post from a niece recently, about how all of it, all the struggle and heartache was worthwhile… because of Christ! I formed the bridge from the concept and felt so confident about making it a powerful statement…The why… why it’s so important that we need to make Christmas more about HIM! He is the reason for it all! ❤️ This song… was a miracle in the making. So many. We need to write them all down…Even how we met, was divine intervention. Jesus is, a God of Miracles. ❤️🥹
