I think we should get a sequel to Season of the Witch, but make it a crossover sequel, which somehow includes a sequel to this. So, it will be a movie about what happens next in this story, and also be about what happens next from H3 perspective, and will somehow mesh together to be the same film. Hahaha. Maybe the guy driving the truck at the end, is Cochran, and he takes the Strodes back to his new Silver Shamrock lair in Haddonfield.
I was sitting in the theaters waiting for it to start listening to he's back on my MP3 player yeah I know the songs about Jason but it was appropriate it's felt like
Did you catch the rhyme from the first Halloween playing before Micheal got the hammer. Black cats and goblins and broomsticks and ghosts, / Covens of witches with all of their hosts / You may think they scare me, / You're probably right / Black cats and goblins / On Halloween night / Trick or treat! It was so cool. My friend didn't catch it.
Loved how his mask sparked alittle somin in Myers & that everyone who was there felt the evil energy it gave off. Myers turns his head just alittle as we see a side look with 1 eye. That was creepy to me & loved it
I thought it awesome they got a time lapse of a pumpkin rotting and then reversed it to get that awesome effect. And then the closing credits music was the Halloween theme reversed. Very cool!
After seeing it last night after watching Codys review, I was skeptical that my expectations were too high but I walked out with the biggest smile on my face. I thought it was pretty fantastic! Laurie is badass, Michael is terrifying again and the cinematography and score were so good. I have a small gripe with that Newmis scene where I feel like if it went a certain way (which it didn't) it could of ruined the film, thankfully it kept Michael as the force. I've seen lots of people complaining about the comedy and the ending, the comedy didn't bother me at all and that Julian kid was hilarious, as for the ending I really enjoyed the ambiguity of not knowing whether or not Michael was really dead, and that shot of him staring at the 3 girls with the fire surrounding him was an emotional scene. Overall I thought it was great, and it also is on my top 10 of 2018.
I think Jamie deserves as much praise as David and Danny. She's the one who found Laurie's character. She actually stated how she changed a couple things within the writing to fit what Laurie would be. I think Jamie should get all the credit for that and her performance is one of her best. She "totally" invested herself in this role.
H1= too numerous to mention here H2 = the Elrods, Michael burning. H3 = Silver Shamrock masks worn by kids. H4 = the granddaughter clutching the knife at the end. H5 = the two goofy cops who get killed. H6 = the white sheets hanging on a clothes line. H20 = the bathroom scene Resurrection = the Resurrection Church van
0451 Shodan you can give me all the best dialogue in the world even from Goodfella's, but at the end of the day it's all how it's delivered and acted. Jamie gets my praise especially on 2018. She put her best chops since True Lies I think.
Randy Taylor Danny McBride sucks and hasn't made anything good since Pineapple Express. The dumb humor was all his and they said the little black kid improvised all his lines by himself so what does that tell you.The kid should've gotten a bonus and no wonder why they're bringing him back for the next two movies
I loved how Michael wasn't even specifically after Laurie for revenge or anything, it was her who was after him. He was like a shark, just constantly moving and looking for prey.
The song that plays when she sees Michael is called "The Shape Hunts Allyson". It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Carpenter is a musical genius.
I absolutely loved the movie! It’s to bad many were disappointed. I think people’s expectations were to high and were thinking to see something as good as the original which I think is nearly impossible. There’s definitely going to be a sequel, we’ll just have to see how it all ties together.
Mike's Horror Corner My expectations were for Michael Myers to be scary again, and to get a good actual story that still has the formula but still changes it up. And I got that, and I am happy.
Mike's Horror Corner That’s so true. But from what I gathered, there are more people who like it than those who hate it. They’re probably “IT fans lol. This movie was made for us long time Slasher fans
Everyone in my theater seemed to really enjoy it. I had high expectations, and I was not let down. I think this is easily the best film since the original. I mean, I like the whole series (I do not include Rob Zombie's terrible films), even the most hated entries like H5, H6, and Resurrection I can watch, but this newest is a cut above the rest. A solid sequel to the original!
I absolutely love that movie! Saw it on the 19th and it's a movie experience I'll never forget and it's so far the best movie I've ever seen in the theater's in my whole life. It's my favorite sequel in the series. It's incredible. I give it a straight up 10/10.
I thought the same thing about him NOT hunting Laurie. Their meeting was only because of the doctor. I felt it was more Laurie stalking Michael than the other way around. And YES that score when he was chasing Allyson was amazing! I got goosebumps and gripped my wife's leg during that scene. The music alone added so much suspense that it was insane! Loved, loved, LOVED this movie! It's now my second favorite Halloween movie behind the original.
I went to see it for a 2nd time yesterday in a bigger & louder theater which definitely makes a difference for the experience. After seeing it a 2nd time made me like it a little more because first time seeing it made me feel rushed to want to know what happens next or to catch everything. Regardless both times I feel the final showdown with laurie and michael could of gone a little longer but happy to see she lived to fight another day. Im really pissed they cut the scene where laurie & michael are outside and she charges at him with the knive...that looked like a great scene and im hoping it will be on the dvd. Obviously michael isnt dead because we dont see him burning and you can hear him breathe at the end of the credits but now thinking about it, laurie goes & sets her whole house on fire with all those weapons, if shes in the sequel shes back to square one LOL
I’m so glad you loved it because I really liked it. I’m not gonna lie, I hated what the doctor did. That was ridiculous for me, but other than that, My excitement hasn’t ended yet and I can’t wait to have it in my collection.
I think the Doctor turning is my favorite part! I never thought a Halloween movie could catch me off guard like that. It all makes sense. In my head I believe he’s the one who crashed the bus so he could study him in the wild like he said in the cop car. By the way I also believe black couple in the nurse and doctor costumes that Michael was about kill were the parents of the kid the that was getting baby sat because they were going to a party and they probably needed a baby sitter. It would make sense that Michael was at that particular house too. This is my favorite movie of the year as well!
Austin River My wife mentioned something about that to me, and I never even thought about the doctor crashing the bus. Good theory and that would tie in well to his motive for asking that police officer, “Did he escape?” Not to mention that the doctor was fine before that kid shot him.
1981mag Exactly! It’s probably the reason he was so persistent on getting on the bus with Michael because he wasn’t supposed to get on until he told the guards that Michael is his patient until he is officially transferred.
Yup, soon as it happens, the whole situation makes sense! Loved it.. I said "motherfucka. You sick bastard. The Dr really did let him out this time.. perfect inverted reference to Loomis!
Jeremy Hobbs My stepson attends filmmaking school at UNCSA where the David Gordon Green and Danny McBride graduated from, and they got to have a free early screening with them there and have a Q and A session afterwards. The director told them that was a reverse scene of a rotting pumpkin that had been filmed in succession for about a month, and they experimented with it and reversed it to see how it looked. I think it was great too!
Sequel needs to start with Laurie investigating the burnt down house for Michael realizing there isn't a body and the one they do find is the dad's that was in the closet.
The only thing I look at is that if they would have made Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Myer still brother and sister that would have that wouldn't ruin the plot it wouldn't ruin nothing
Glad you caught the amazing score when Allyson finally sees Micheal. The theater was rocking loud, I honestly loved it! Great channel, incredible/honest reviews. You are doing a great job!
I noticed there were a lot of clips from the trailers that weren’t in the movie. There was a shower scene, cheerleading scene, Laurie and Michael fight in the yard, and more. What do you think is up with that?
Yea, that sucks those scenes were cut. I wanted to see the cheerleading scene with the famous Haddonfield cheer chant, and wanted to see the showdown with Michael and Laurie in the yard. Also wanted to see the scene where Laurie walked up the target practice dummies outside singing "Just The Two Of Us". I thought that was going to be our introduction to Laurie. Would have been great.
That happens with a lot of movies. Trailers are prepared before editing is complete and often times scenes shown in trailers don't make the final cut. I know it seems a bit misleading but that's just the way it goes when marketing a film months in advance.
The score in the new film was definitely one of its biggest strengths. If u look back at the whole series this score blows away everything after the first 2. I know other films used the Halloween theme and some beats from the original but it wasn’t the same. Wow what a difference a full John Carpenter score makes
I absolutely loved the movie!!!! Best Halloween movie! I felt like Myers was still alive because if you watch till the end after the credits roll, you can hear him breathing in his mask.
also he was not stand at the foot of the stiars when they showed the cage basement a blaze so he will be back plus the movie is doing amazing so you know the old saying . but yeah great movie. michael is back to basics and it feels so good to have him back.
Lee forgot to pin this but EVERYONE, there will be spoilers in the comments :P and Lee if u want to stand up at the movies and cheer, u stand up bro and cheer away! I go crazy myself during DC movies
Omg yes! The music playing after Alyson goes back to find her dead friend, and sees Michael for the first time, was amazing! Just like you said it was so badass! I absolutely loved the score in this movie. This might be the first movie I go see in theaters twice!
He did in Halloween 5. Years of trying and failing to kill Michael had gotten to him to the point where he used Jamie as bait to lure Michael into a trap.
I found the whole story interesting and I appreciated that they jettisoned the pointless backstory and instead focus on what makes the first one so good
I loved it as a modern version of Halloween with a little classic vibe in there. The comedy didn’t bother me and I didn’t really notice it that much. Now the Dr. twist is the only thing I disliked! They could’ve done something different but similar. Halloween is a slasher movie not an Oscar winning drama. So yeah overall it was great.
I am so freaking grateful to have had the opportunity to see a Halloween film in theatres, nonetheless a really great one. I had the same exact feeling about Carpenter’s score after the fence kill. The piece is called “The Shape Hunts Allyson” and I have it on repeat while I’m studying for midterms-truly magical stuff but I expect nothing less from Carpenter.
Chris Wilson The more viewings you watch it you realize how bad it was. They should've kept the deleted scenes in bcuz it makes it a little better but the doctor and husband had no business in this movie. The doctor should've made it to the house at least and Laurie seeing he was responsible and almost kills him. He's left for dead than later asks Micheal for help than Micheal finishes him off to prove Micheal doesn't give a shit about anybody. The deleted scene actually showing the boyfriend getting arrested for being a drunk asshole should've been kept in and that would've made that walk home with the loser friend more...I cant think of the word but people would've respected it more and you would've known the boyfriend was actually in jail. Also these things don't need to be explained they say but I cant still get over it.How did Micheal get the dead husbands body upstairs in the closet when you saw him come into the house alone then went upstairs then when Laurie opens up the closet the body just falls out.The husband Ray's body was still outside where Micheal left him
When Micheal was trapped in the basement and it started to go on fire and he's just staring at Laurie like "You really think this is gonna stop me?" That had to be the creepiest scene ever. Even though you can't see his face his eyes sold like it he was actually enjoying the moment. It's like he knew he met his match but it was fun for him. Truly terrifying for me.
I just want to say something!!! That I haven't seen any other reviewer state, but Halloween Resurrection was somewhat mentioned/payed homage to! When the Podcasters and Micheal show up at the gas station, now correct me if I'm wrong, but I noticed the church van the ladies were in, when they were getting gas their van said "RESURRECTION of christ" on it. Lol. I just noticed it during my first viewing. And i haven't seen anyone talk about that homage!? Thoughts anyone? I just think that was the only slight nod to Halloween Resurrection that I noticed. Lol.
After watching the film a few days ago I'm honestly still blown away, Michael Myers was so relentless and ruthless which was absolutely incredible to see, I still have chills thinking about the movie.
I liked it for the most part, but I wanted to love it. Too many characters, subplots and set-pieces - that easily could've been eliminated - served no purpose and threw off the pacing, and took screen time from the one thing I wanted to be explored a bit more: Laurie and her relationship with her family. The Halloween dance and the drama between Allyson and her boyfriend was just fluff, especially considering that the boyfriend character pretty much disappears from the movie. The comedy was fine in some spots but ruined the tension in parts where it was supposed to be scary. Especially during the babysitter scene. My biggest gripe was Dr. Sartain. He nearly tanked the movie for me. He was a terrible actor, and his twist was absolutely ridiculous and it went nowhere. It literally was meant to serve as a way to get Michael to Laurie's compound for the final act. I'd trade Sartain for more screen time with Laurie, Karen, and Allyson - especially for the final confrontation which went by a little too fast. It was also lacking the signature atmosphere that has been missing since H6, something I wanted them to achieve but they fell short. I blame this on the pacing issues. There is still a lot of good stuff. The dinner scene and Laurie watching Michael being loaded onto the bus were very powerful. The soundtrack was excellent (though would have liked more music from the original). Judy Greer's moment at the end was pretty awesome. The nods to the other films were nice and didn't seem forced. The one-shot double murder scene is one of the most amazing scenes in the entire franchise. And... James Jude Courtney is, without a doubt, the best incarnations of Michael Myers since the original. But, I would still take Parts 2, 4, and possibly the Producer's Cut of 6 over this one. Maybe I'll change my mind after repeat viewings.
Saw it twice yesterday. Fucking loved it!!! The ending between Laurie and Michael was perfect. Perfect length. Suspense and tension was on high and even during the whole movie. Captured the feel of the original so well. Loved this movie!
I'm with you 100% on the infant part. I thought "Man, Michael. Turn that shit down just a notch, dont kill the baby". Thank god he has SOME decency left even though he had no issues killing the kid in the car lol But man did i love this movie. It was what i hoped it would be and i admittedly was worried over some last minute, less than positive reviews that came in. But i kept myself away from all spoilers thankfully
I think he killed the kid because the kid was armed and a potential threat to Michael. I also think the filmmakers included the scene to tell the audience, Hey no one is safe.
@@andrewbouk1324 i mean i get it. They wanted Michael to be over the top as much as possible to show he's lost almost all humanity and he was; on a level not seen since H6. And to be honest, im not entirely opposed to breaking the "no kids" taboo because a real monster doesn't differentiate. Basically you can get away with a younger kid, IT has done that recently. But a baby is still way to taboo for any film maker and thankfully so lol
This was the sequel I've been waiting for, growing up I been wanting that intro back in a Halloween movie, this was the most brutal Myers I've ever seen, i loved every minute of it , I'm glad the movie stuck with 5 victims from the original
Hey Lee! I think most the people that are complaining about the movie were expecting some kind of like Grammy award-winning Oscar nominee type of dialogue from a Halloween movie, which is really kind of dumb if you understand the original. It's a simplistic fun but yet interesting mysterious type of movie. Really it's just a ghost story, and overall one of the things that makes the original great is its simplicity, which this movie does really good as well. it's simplistic but it's action-packed and fun the entire time, and you get exactly what you need to and then some from the sequel of a masterpiece of a movie that is 1978 Halloween. And in my opinion, I think they actually do some things better in this new one. I mean, that bathroom stall seen. My God....
And honestly one of my only problems with the movie is just when laurie sees Meyers outside her front door, she's literally standing a good 15 yards away from him holding a shotgun. So that's my only like nitpick, she could have easily have just opened the door and started open fire, but hey it's a movie Haha
@@dannyirishgreene9309 fun . Looking back now that I've seen it twice my overall thoughts is there is stuff lacking, I gave it a tid bit to much credit in my comment. I will confess that the dialogue and story did Lac quite a bit in some areas after watching the movie a second time I noticed how some scenes felt rushed and they did miss a few things with capturing certain shots. I felt would have made the movie a lot better and connect with the original a bit more. But honestly it still is a really fun movie to watch, fun meaning the action was good, and some really cool shots and acting, in my opinion
Finally getting to watch your review, Lee. I loved this movie. It was so worth the wait. And I too got chills when those opening credits started. Great review!
After seeing it twice i will give it a b- i felt like it rushed to the fight with laurie and the kills were fast i wanted more stalking in haddonfeild more shadows of him standing and stalking and the dr seen was just ridicolus i hope theres a sequel im not comfortable with the end and please nomore michael vs laurie but overall good movie i just expected more because of the hype it got me !!!!!
Kc IlIlIlIlIlIl I do agree. Great movie but I felt like things were rushed. I liked the slow burn agenda with the original. I'm an extra huge fan of the original for that reason. I would have been happy with less kills with more substance. The end is a bit iffy with me. I'm still unsure how I feel about it. But overall right now, I like it.
Randy Taylor i agree i think alot has to do with all the hype so we was expecting so much more i felt also like it rushed thats why i like the original u dont see michael as much u would see like shadows of him stalking which made it more scary i do hope this movie does well because id hate to see it end like that theres so much better they can do but it is a start i do give them credit for trying to bring that feel back just wish the kills were more slower more stalking but i guess its doing good i heard the first night alone it brang in 33 million but i see it already on streaming people with there cams in theater that could hurt the revenue of the movie 👎🏼
Kc IlIlIlIlIlIl less is always more. And the mystery of Michael is always more frightening than a fold out story line about him. I don't want to know why or where. All we need to know is what Loomis spoke of firstly. He had these eyes, the devils eyes, full of evil, staring at a wall for fifteen or forty years. Not saying a word. Just that profile is enough to scare you more than a reason why.
Saw this yesterday and I absolutely loved it. It was the first Halloween movie I have seen in theaters and as of right now it is my favorite of the franchise. Blew me away. My theater experience was awesome as well. Great Review BTW.
So glad you mentioned the Allyson Chase music. I listened to the soundtrack before i saw the movie, and that track might hands down be my favorite horror movie track i’ve ever heard
I just saw it!! I really liked it!! Jamie Lee Curtis was in full mama-bear mode and it was AWESOME!!!!!! The three women kicked the crap outta Michael!!!! When he threw Laurie off the balcony, it dawned on me how truly strong she was as a character. She knew she could die but was determined to protect her family so much so that she went back into the house. There was no running, no screaming. Laurie simply took back what was hers.
I've seen the movie twice and the two moments that got the biggest crowd reactions at my screenings were Laurie disappearing after falling off the second floor window and Judy Greer's "Gotcha" moment.
I really really like this movie! Was not a fan of the ending in my opinion laurie should have died saving her family would have been a fitting ending and setup a sequel what will she come back for one more. And lastly They are giving away too much in the trailers!
At the very end of the credits, you hear Michael’s breathing. So I definitely think he’s still alive and I can’t wait to see what they do with the sequel.
Went and saw the movie! FUCKING AWESOME! I loved everything about it... except for the Dr., but everything else was badass! I’m going again tomorrow! Can’t wait for this to come out on 4K. I loved the pumpkin intro
I wouldn't call it a total let down, but it was a bit underwhelming to me. Guess I had my hopes to high as well. Terrifier has totally spoiled me when it comes to gore in slasher movies.
Someone fake "spoiled" for me weeks ago that "Laurie dies at the end," so when she didn't die, and the credits started to roll, that was the biggest surprise for me.
I honestly thought that Laurie crashed the bus while watching; I think that would’ve been a very bold move and would’ve been cool to see. Why else was she waiting in her truck at smith’s grove ? Just a thought.
Brett Sheffield they don’t really explain “why” she was there. But from what we see it’s almost obvious that she was going to crash the bus in my opinion. She was drinking and had a loaded handgun. The ONLY other option I think was that maybe they were going to have an attempted suicide scene? She also shows up to the dinner late and she’s very emotionally distraught in that scene which makes it even more interesting that maybe she did cause the bus to crash by shooting the tires
The movie was absolutely phenomenal. I loved every scene & they did a good job bringing Michael back again, I really do think we're gonna have another sequel. Michael breathing in the end, us not seeing him burning shows that.
I have to say, I never realized until this movie how important it was to have an actual good Michael Myers portrayal. James Jude Courtney deserves a tremendous amount of credit because he really is the best Shape since Nick Castle. The way he moves and carries himself is perfect and those kills are brutal yet they're not drawn out or with any emotion behind them. A lot of people will give praise to JLC's performance, but James Jude Courtney returned that mystique and evil presence that the Shape has been lacking for decades. He earned that mask.
I thought this Halloween was absolutely horrible. Almost had to leave early! Many things made it almost too cringy to even watch! The acting and the script were lackluster, wayyyy too much comedic relief. The theater was laughing, and the the children next to me seemed bored. No one seemed scared. For it to be played by a past Michael actor, I wouldn't know unless I wasn't into the series. It felt NOTHING like Michal's presence. It seemed like a different person all together. Michael seemed like one big joke! There were many stupid lines and scenes that made no sense, and either left you more confused or seemed to be missing something. Also, they BARELY showed any kills! It is not as mastered as the original to get away with that. Plus lets not talk about the CGI attempts.. no I could go on and on
Your on fucking drugs I saw the whole film there's no cgi there's alot of kills but fourteen is really a high body count it got gore in it for instance there's a face carved out of a Jack-o-lantern with a flash light sticking out of it's head that's brutal.
Great review!! I saw this past Sunday. Though it was fantastic!! Love the homage scenes from H1 and H2. You touched on all the important details that I though of. Michael Myers is such a incredibly scary character. Loved the brute strength of Myers. One my fav scene was when the male reporter was filling gas and in the background out of focus. Myers walking down gas station attendant and few seconds later in the background, he beating the hell out him to acquire the overalls. The mask!! for get it.. it's awesome!! I was so glad I pre-ordered TOTS Myers 2018 mask. I got it a couple of weeks ago and have playing with it (Photographically) in costume. Such a cool mask.
Love this review Drumdums. So many people expecting too much on this movie while what i want is just a modernized classic movie with a good story, respecting the originality and a more action rather than slow paced story telling. Some people felt rushed, I didn’t. Some people want something new, I didn’t. I just felt like the original Halloween is too old for my taste because it’s a slow movie and almost put me to sleep until Michael showed up, so i expected the 2018 Halloween to be quicker with more action and i have to say, they did the job perfect for me. I seriously have nothing to complain about. Michael is brutal, scores are great, Laurie is badass, kills are great. Just fantastic
Great review Lee! I pretty much agree with everything you said. Sure it has some flaws, it’s not perfect, but I think there was enough to warrant the film a worthy sequel to the original. I walked away satisfied, and I intend on seeing it again.
thank u soooooooo much for saying what needed to be said and for putting into words what I felt about this movie! I loved the movie, its probably the best sequel to any horror movie ever IMO!
I'm so happy that this movie is everything that you wanted for a new Halloween movie. Even though I didn't like it that much I'm so glad that you liked it. You have a great day
I absolutely loved this movie! I'm a die hard fan of the original Halloween 1&2, and used to watch them on VHS back to back all the time in the mid 90s. I'm glad that they got away from the whole sister/family killing angle, and Michael's directionless, motiveless - other than being a force of evil - rampage - especially in the one take shot when he really got started - was fucking amazing. I've seen it twice on opening weekend, and will probably see it one more time on Sunday. =)
Yeah Lee I agree that Michael was so interesting as a character in the film. The filmmakers really recaptured that mystery about the character that Carpenter did in the original. The questions about his motivations, the questions about where exactly Myers is on that Human/supernatural scale, the uncertainty of what he would do next. Loved Myers in this one
I loved this movie so much. Just saw it for the third time tonight. Lee I'm totally with you on that scene with the epic music 'The Shape Hunts Allyson' definitely my favorite track on the soundtrack. I also loved the ending and if you stayed for the end of the credits you can hear him breathing. Best sequel in my opinion.
Seen it now so could watch this. Great review Lee!! I did love it with a few minor points. But michael and the kills were amazing!!!! your amazing enthusiasm throughout October got me so excited for this movie.
I loved the movie, the scene where Dana asks the gas station attendant where the bathroom is, in the background you see Michael killing the mechanic, they really did make him a force in this movie
With all the nods to past Halloween sequels I wish they would've let us know how Ben Tramer made out...hope he aspired for more than just sippin' beers with his buddies..
Well he got the rawest of deals...out with your buds...having some beers...jazzed about Laurie diggin' ya...give her call in the a.m...then calling it an early night and heading home when ya spot the local sheriff's car and out pops this bald dude screaming and running towards ya with a Magnum in his hand..making an evasive move across the street you get plowed by a cop car that has NO business going that fast in a residential area on Halloween night no less (there's kids out everywhere) and this car doesn't stop til you're pinned against a van..undoubtedly now paralyzed from the waist down...and now engulfed in flames...watch the intial impact afterwards..he's trying to hold his body up and finally he just gives as you see and hear the "klunk" on the hood...there's your night Ben...sleep tight 😵
Just watched the movie. JLC was outstanding. The kills the music and creepiness factor was all there. Loved the crazy Dr side plot which for me added a new level of mystery about the aura surrounding MM. The ending was very tense. This is a movie that needs to be watched multiple times. There was actually a grandmother in my theater. Just proves theres a little Myers in us all. Great review Lee.
I just rewatched this review. Its great! Very entertaining. Very detailed compared to others I've watched. Keep up the great work! Can't wait for the sequel!!!🎃🔪
Hey brother that was one of the best reviews or any topic I've ever watched. My thoughts came out in your words. Everything you said about the movie was point on. That's my opinion. I never once said oh Michael is 61 years old. His performance was just like 1978, moved awesome and was a FORCE. Thanks for these great videos and look forward to seeing more.
The only real con I didn't like about the movie was when Hawkins got killed off and one of the best scenes I thought was that audio clip of Dr. Loomis.
@@DrumdumsOfficial Would have been nice to see him in the sequel. I really liked his performance. I just subscribed to your channel. Love your videos and the content. Keep up the good work, Man!👍
12K reviews and still climbing. Thank you all for the great comments. This movie was fucking fire. SAY SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drumdums do you think we will get a part 3? To the new timeline that’s possibly even later same night as this one?
"He Said Something To Me"
"What Did He Say?"
"If You Let Me Go I'll Tell You."
He's referring to the opening scene. "SAY SOMETHING!"
Pretty good review. I think it's the third best in the series behind II and the original.
That ending when they trap him in the basement and he’s just staring at them as everything is burning behind him my god he just does not let up.
Angel Alba I’m gonna say he got out and we will get a part three for the next part of night in a year or two
William Weaver and I would agree with you
That part, omg he has no fucks to give
Millyon Eyedeaz right?! It was insane!
Angel Alba yup, just lookin at em like "ok, u got me. So what. I'll be back for u bitches".. just stood in the flames silently.
We had the same reaction to the music playing when Michael spotted Allyson. I got goosebumps hearing it. It was amazing
Yeah the new parts of the score were great and michael coming around the fence to that new track, i came
It kinda gave me the old feeling u get when u hear the into to the Goosebumps tv series!! Favorite track by FAR!
LOVED every minute of this movie! It’s great to see Michael Myers back on the big screen where he belongs!
I was sitting in the theaters waiting for it to start listening to he's back on my MP3 player yeah I know the songs about Jason but it was appropriate it's felt like
Agree with you me Manley! This was actually my first Halloween in the theatre, and I’m soooo glad I went to see it!
I don't understand changing the story that he's not related to Lori that was the whole thing for all those years
Did you catch the rhyme from the first Halloween playing before Micheal got the hammer. Black cats and goblins and broomsticks and ghosts, / Covens of witches with all of their hosts / You may think they scare me, / You're probably right / Black cats and goblins / On Halloween night / Trick or treat! It was so cool. My friend didn't catch it.
I also notice they showed the Dollhouse a few time. I finally figure it was the Myer's House.
I got chills when I heard that.
I did!!! Loved it!!
Loved how his mask sparked alittle somin in Myers & that everyone who was there felt the evil energy it gave off. Myers turns his head just alittle as we see a side look with 1 eye. That was creepy to me & loved it
How did I miss that? Awesome!
Might be my favorite movie of the year. Those opening credits gave me the chills they were so awesome
I thought it awesome they got a time lapse of a pumpkin rotting and then reversed it to get that awesome effect. And then the closing credits music was the Halloween theme reversed. Very cool!
The inmates and dogs going crazy when Aaron pulls the mask out of his bag was just chilling. I really loved the cold open and opening credits.
I agree with this 💯
I think Jamie deserves as much praise as David and Danny. She's the one who found Laurie's character. She actually stated how she changed a couple things within the writing to fit what Laurie would be. I think Jamie should get all the credit for that and her performance is one of her best. She "totally" invested herself in this role.
Randy Taylor I so agree!!! She poured SO much into this role!!!
H1= too numerous to mention here
H2 = the Elrods, Michael burning.
H3 = Silver Shamrock masks worn by kids.
H4 = the granddaughter clutching the knife at the end.
H5 = the two goofy cops who get killed.
H6 = the white sheets hanging on a clothes line.
H20 = the bathroom scene
Resurrection = the Resurrection Church van
0451 Shodan you can give me all the best dialogue in the world even from Goodfella's, but at the end of the day it's all how it's delivered and acted. Jamie gets my praise especially on 2018. She put her best chops since True Lies I think.
Randy Taylor Danny McBride sucks and hasn't made anything good since Pineapple Express. The dumb humor was all his and they said the little black kid improvised all his lines by himself so what does that tell you.The kid should've gotten a bonus and no wonder why they're bringing him back for the next two movies
When Laurie and Tommy went to drop off the key, I feel like Michael saw Judith and 6 year old him (Tommy Doyle) and it triggered him.
snafu agree!!!
snafu maybe
I did like how Michael just strolls through the parking lot at the gas station in his mental institution garb like nothing lol
One of my favorite moments in the movie!
Laurie died in Infinity War.
Thanks for the heart btw
😂😂😂😂
Braden V yeah it is
There's no connection to Infinity War nor HALLOWEEN 40 YEARS LATER so the fuck are you talking about?
Abram Sullivan they are talking about how thanos snapped and half of earth disappeared
Abram Sullivan is joke man
I absolutely loved the movie! It’s to bad many were disappointed. I think people’s expectations were to high and were thinking to see something as good as the original which I think is nearly impossible. There’s definitely going to be a sequel, we’ll just have to see how it all ties together.
I had three expectations going to see a movie called Halloween seeing the return of Michael Myers and a confrontation between Michael and Lorie
Mike's Horror Corner Idiots are always going to hate on every movie
Everyone in my theater seemed to really enjoy it. I had high expectations, and I was not let down. I think this is easily the best film since the original. I mean, I like the whole series (I do not include Rob Zombie's terrible films), even the most hated entries like H5, H6, and Resurrection I can watch, but this newest is a cut above the rest. A solid sequel to the original!
Did you know, that you can hear Michael breathing after credits? This is clear hint, that Michael is still alive.
Yes I stayed after yesterday and noticed.
I absolutely love that movie! Saw it on the 19th and it's a movie experience I'll never forget and it's so far the best movie I've ever seen in the theater's in my whole life. It's my favorite sequel in the series. It's incredible. I give it a straight up 10/10.
Haddonfield was Michael’s target. No shits given.
One of the first kills with the guy getting his neck snapped so far back u can see his spine about to burst out of his neck
How about the head stomp.
Awesome movie. It was cool to see Allyson’s father knew the kid who bullied tommy Doyle in the 1st movie, who happened to be Allyson’s boyfriend’s dad
I’m so glad you loved it because I really liked it. I’m not gonna lie, I hated what the doctor did. That was ridiculous for me, but other than that, My excitement hasn’t ended yet and I can’t wait to have it in my collection.
It was so wonderful!
Austin River Caught me off guard as well then he gets a Stomping
Wait For the Blackout It made $77 Million already?
Drumdums, I finally saw it today and it was legit. Definitely worth the wait. Best sequel since Halloween 4.
I agree with you the opening scene and credits were epic!
Sergio Molina Thank you!
The pumpkin's eye and nose looked like Michael and a knife
Maddox Jackson and the knife looked like a “4” and the head looked like a “0”
@@hinglemccringleberry8100 Nice catch man
I don’t know what it is but I could seriously listen to you talk about Halloween all day, I love how passionate about the franchise you are
I noticed there were a lot of clips from the trailers that weren’t in the movie. There was a shower scene, cheerleading scene, Laurie and Michael fight in the yard, and more. What do you think is up with that?
OldFashionedSlashin’ I remember the same kinda shower bathroom scene in a resurrection tv spot
OldFashionedSlashin’ : ...they better stick them on the dvd baby !!!
That happens with a lot of movies. Trailers are prepared before editing is complete and often times scenes shown in trailers don't make the final cut. I know it seems a bit misleading but that's just the way it goes when marketing a film months in advance.
I think them fighting in the yard was the original ending and they had to reshoot
The score in the new film was definitely one of its biggest strengths. If u look back at the whole series this score blows away everything after the first 2. I know other films used the Halloween theme and some beats from the original but it wasn’t the same. Wow what a difference a full John Carpenter score makes
It really does. What a damn score!
Chelsea King He is still alive
I’ll never be able to thank you enough for your support of my work Lee! It means the world as always! ❤️
Of course Victoria. You do amazing work!
I like when Michael got his fingers blown off lol 😁
"SAY SOMETHING"
How cool would it have been if Michael said
"Something"
Ultimate 90s movie!
Hahahaha
I feel like Sartain is what Loomis would have been had his obsession with Michael gotten so bad that he became like him.
Xehanort10 yeah I enjoyed that angle. Just making him like Loomis would have come across as a poor copy. The Bizarro Loomis worked much better lol
I really liked Sartain. Especially when he killed the sheriff. I thought, "oooh I like where this is going" but then it didn't lead to anything.
I felt like they were trying to give us that twist like they did in H4.
Loomis would never go crazy
Brian Fingar yeah! A lot of people said how the comedy ruined the whole movie but it was actually pretty funny to me and fit in
I am so freaking grateful to have had the opportunity to see a Halloween film in theatres, nonetheless a really great one. I had the same exact feeling about Carpenter’s score after the fence kill. The piece is called “The Shape Hunts Allyson” and I have it on repeat while I’m studying for midterms-truly magical stuff but I expect nothing less from Carpenter.
I was a little disappointed with the movie but it had it's good moments
Jehrome Whyte I agree. Loved Myers but I probably expected way too much otherwise.
It definitely could have been better but it was still a good movie and I had a fun time watching it. It's probably 3rd or 4th best in the series.
Jehrome.....I'm with you! It was an "ok" movie, but nowhere near the hype everyone is making it out to be.
@@taydestiny38 Yeah I give it a 7/10
Chris Wilson The more viewings you watch it you realize how bad it was.
Lol.
I didn't notice that!
@@DrumdumsOfficial love your videos and opinions btw!
Robb Tijerina Every movie had a homage played
Johnathon Newcomer Relationship with her family?u can't really do much with that..other scenes are needed
Thanks Lee for adding our pic . We all loved the movie great review once again.🎃🎃🎃🗡🤘
Saw it twice yesterday. Fucking loved it!!! The ending between Laurie and Michael was perfect. Perfect length. Suspense and tension was on high and even during the whole movie. Captured the feel of the original so well. Loved this movie!
That music on that scene. BLEW ME AWAY. Without that score this movie wouldn't be as great!
I'm with you 100% on the infant part. I thought "Man, Michael. Turn that shit down just a notch, dont kill the baby". Thank god he has SOME decency left even though he had no issues killing the kid in the car lol
But man did i love this movie.
@@andrewbouk1324
Plus he stole their vehicle
What I did enjoy about Michael killing the kid was that it was actually a nod to when he kills Annie in the car in the original
Michael L Rakes I swear I would have walked out the theatre if he killed that crying baby. The poor dancer kid was enough😫.
Grave Warmer Fun?
Thank you!
Too bad buddy Laurie is coming back too considering neither of them are dead😂
Kc IlIlIlIlIlIl I agree with you
Been waiting for this since I left the theater friday
Thank you!
As a movie reviewer, you seem honest and real. Everything always seems genuine. Good video!!!
Thank you Andy!
This movie was so damn good
You think the sequel be any good?
I've seen the movie twice and the two moments that got the biggest crowd reactions at my screenings were Laurie disappearing after falling off the second floor window and Judy Greer's "Gotcha" moment.
Shouldn't be watching this video yet, can't see it until tomorrow :( ...... but I gotta support you until you tell me too much then I'll turn it off
I LOVED the distorted guitar note blended into the theme when Michael was on screen near the end!
I really really like this movie! Was not a fan of the ending in my opinion laurie should have died saving her family would have been a fitting ending and setup a sequel what will she come back for one more. And lastly They are giving away too much in the trailers!
ShotgunMikey81 well the dad did lol he took one for the team
At the very end of the credits, you hear Michael’s breathing. So I definitely think he’s still alive and I can’t wait to see what they do with the sequel.
Went and saw the movie! FUCKING AWESOME! I loved everything about it... except for the Dr., but everything else was badass! I’m going again tomorrow! Can’t wait for this to come out on 4K. I loved the pumpkin intro
The original font for the title was perfect.
Agreed! Chills.
@@DrumdumsOfficial Question is it possible this movie has a extended cut. Like the original. It felt like there could be more going on.
Total let down. Never getting my hopes up for another Halloween movie
I wouldn't call it a total let down, but it was a bit underwhelming to me. Guess I had my hopes to high as well. Terrifier has totally spoiled me when it comes to gore in slasher movies.
I loved when Laurie referred to Michael as “the shape”
Great review. I feared you might be too critical like Cody Leach. I loved this movie a lot.
Bear 7453 I honestly thought same thing
She was sitting outside to see if Michael would try and escape
Brett Sheffield they don’t really explain “why” she was there. But from what we see it’s almost obvious that she was going to crash the bus in my opinion. She was drinking and had a loaded handgun. The ONLY other option I think was that maybe they were going to have an attempted suicide scene? She also shows up to the dinner late and she’s very emotionally distraught in that scene which makes it even more interesting that maybe she did cause the bus to crash by shooting the tires
Yeah I thought Laurie did it but later it’s implied the Doctor most likely caused it
@@Njbear7453 but the doctor had said that Michael overtook the first guard and that lead to the bus crash
The movie was absolutely phenomenal. I loved every scene & they did a good job bringing Michael back again, I really do think we're gonna have another sequel. Michael breathing in the end, us not seeing him burning shows that.
Part 4 was even better than this new Halloween flick.
Nah
Part 4 is the best
Part 4 is dreadful
Jim Borghini H4 was good
benjimetalhed H5 is dreadful not H4
I have to say, I never realized until this movie how important it was to have an actual good Michael Myers portrayal. James Jude Courtney deserves a tremendous amount of credit because he really is the best Shape since Nick Castle. The way he moves and carries himself is perfect and those kills are brutal yet they're not drawn out or with any emotion behind them. A lot of people will give praise to JLC's performance, but James Jude Courtney returned that mystique and evil presence that the Shape has been lacking for decades. He earned that mask.
I hated this film. So disappointing. THE NEW LOOMIS ALLOWED MYERS TO ESCAPE TO SEE THE BEAST HUNT IN HIS ENVIRONMENT??? THE JOKES WERENT FUNNY!!!!
Piss off
Hey Brett (DB name), im sorry if my honest opinion hurt your little feelings. Last time I checked, I'm allowed to think for myself. Go away you clown!
Sure okay
Another excellent review Brother!! And I’m so happy to have my face in a Drumdums video!
I'm so happy to have you on my video Glen!
Plus lets not talk about the CGI attempts.. no
I could go on and on
Sierra H Are you sure you watched the same movie. I disagree with every statement you just said.
Your on fucking drugs I saw the whole film there's no cgi there's alot of kills but fourteen is really a high body count it got gore in it for instance there's a face carved out of a Jack-o-lantern with a flash light sticking out of it's head that's brutal.
James Matarrese yall must be Rob Zombie fans.
James Matarrese oh ok my bad but everybody has there opinions
You don't understand or appreciate myers they went back to the roots of the original and michael scary again
This is such an underrated channel. You’re definitely one of my top horror movie content creators!
Thank you so much man!
The atmosphere when that halloween tune hit was so epic! First time ever watching halloween on the big screen.
Hell yeah!
Yes sir.. .Michael was insane in this!
There are more Ben Tramer jokes among fans than any other outside character haha.
Great film seen now about 10 times gets better every time. Hope they make one more Halloween. Soon. Good video lee. Shape on!!!!
Thank you!
Thank you Danny!
You had me at Big Red! Oh, who am I kidding. I woulda watched anyway. Just browsing through your old vids
Haha Big Red is the bomb! Thanks for watching man!
Drumdums I totally agree with everything Michael is savage as hell and probably his most evilest in the entire series
Another great review drum!!
Thank you!
The only real con I didn't like about the movie was when Hawkins got killed off and one of the best scenes I thought was that audio clip of Dr. Loomis.
I have to agree with this. I wanted a better ending for Hawkins.
@@DrumdumsOfficial Would have been nice to see him in the sequel. I really liked his performance. I just subscribed to your channel. Love your videos and the content. Keep up the good work, Man!👍
