Im going to aithodontic in Colombia and they all say you cant do this as an adult, which is so annoying. I have sleep apnea at 36 sleeping on my back.
Might not be related but sleeping on the back is actually not healthy... Your ribcage needs to expand on every breath which can't be done if you are compressing them laying on your back. The best position to sleep it on your right side.

I also go to Colombia for my dental work, talked to a dental surgeon and she told me it can't be done as well...then I clarified my intensions/reasoning. You need to politely explain the evidence for palate expansion for adults, and then ask them for an experimental opportunity with you. Most of them would be glad to help you once they know you understand this is not common practice... They might not know what the expand rate would be for an adult, Mike mew has been using a ballpark of 1mm a week, and also how long the expansion therapy would be used, mike also suggest something like 3-4-6 months depending on the severity of your case, or that you also need increase your chewing force(silicon chewie's once a day) while having the appliance so that force is vertically applied as well as laterally. So I still definitely recommend Colombian dentist over American, they are much smarter and intuitive when it comes to orthodontics, not as rigid and "by the book" as American doctors.

You can just talk to your orthodontist..I mean if they tell you that your to old for it go to another orthodontist cause I'm 33 yrs old have one its doing it's job

Yes its possible and recommended, you probably have to narrow of a palate anyway and just haven't developed the health implications of small space yet, it would be good insurance to make sure you don't develop those problems.
Maybe you have this from mouth breathing? Than you csn check out mewing it widens the palate . I was mouthbreathing from allergies
So.. what appliances do use to achieve expansion in adults?
schwartz appliance
Search for “Homeoblock appliance” and “Vivos DNA appliance” they are kinda similar to “Schwartz expander” (removable).
There are some devices that attaches to the molars, but the removable appliances seem to be safer (less chance of only moving the teeth without actually expanding the palate).
One side of my palate is less expanded than my other side is there any way to expand it without surgery
I wonder if this can still help with expansion given the hardware in my maxilla.

Expansion in adults? How is this different from AGGA? Patients have been losing their teeth with these appliances, just look it up.

how do i find an orthodontist willing to do a palate expander for me? every one i ask says it doesn't work for adults. (im 21)
I have one in rn and i’m 21, my orthodontist actually recommended it instead of jaw surgery. I went to “Diamond Braces” Idk if there’s a branch in your area but all you have to do is ask around

Same here. I'm 20 and my orthodontist is refusing to use an expander and is telling me that I need to extract teeth😢

What’s up with these dentist and orthodontist not being able to think outside the box… they lack intelligence to say one size fits all… they are afraid to pull teeth and give expanders to adults… if the people ask for it, give it….

Im 33 yrs old and i have a RPE ( rapid palate expander) with ceramic braces its kinda like a SARPE its working wonders for my narrow palate

Dont waste your money.....the palate expander does not work on adults ..My orthodontist just wanted money .....i still have the narrow smile. Dentistry is all crooks..my orthodontist recommended surgery...but i didnt have the money for it or insurance at the time i was 21. So she decided to pull the premolars So instead of her telling me how my mouth would look if you take out the premolars and with braces your mouth will be narrow and not have a broad smile...she doesnt say any of that and recommends me pull the premolars....so another orthodontist tells me that i should have never pulled out the premolars and they had special braces and appliances that would not require you to pull out teeth...so anyway i during the treatment braces after premolar removal. I told ger what the other doctor told me. And she was like stuck and unsure of what to do. After my treatment my teeth were straight but i dont have a smile that i wanted my palate is narrow and i get made fun and called names.then im 33 years old now....and i wanted orthodontic treatment last june i wanted a palate expander and now all of sudden the same doctor that recommend the premolar removal now says that palate expander would work...So i did treatment again with braces and palate expander...i stopped treatment cause there was no results from the palate expander my teeth were already straight before treatment , I just wanted a wider palate..but instead the appliance only forced my molars teeth out ward that was it it did nothing to my palate.my im left with embarrassment now cause my mouth is a poker face and i get made fun of isolated ,altracized by everyone.It sucks.So dont do the palate expander as a adult
Hi im 26 y.o I'm going through hell i spended a lot of money and my orthodontist keeps lying me eye to eye i have my upper palate expander now 1 month and i have photos from before putting it and now 0 bone expansion just my left molars are going shifted outside and the wors part is that my lowe jaw is going to one side creating me asymmetric face should i remove my expander + i have braces in lower jaw
@@dorinabicaku9855 yes i would remove and cancel treatment thats what i did cause my molars were shifting sideward as well and 0 bone expansion. So i stopped treatment. Only the SARPE which is the surgical repaid expansion which means they actually screw into your bone on your palate surgically place screws with a palate expander and thats how they expand the bone.. But i live in florida and they dont that type of procedure and have those options where i live ..at least where the orthodontic office ive had. Went they dont .......so i have to deal with it and accept the way it is now..... These orthodontist today are trying to take peoples money and lie to them of false outcomes that wont be accurate. I saw it just like you the 2 month i had the expander and saw 0 expansion.. And the orthodontist lied to saying they see expansion that it will move slowly.....right?!🤔hmmm and so like 5 months went by and saw 0 expansion so i stopped it cause i saw no difference from when i first started.

Yes, I'm 32 and had it done when I was 31 but you need to under go assisted MSE surgery.
