  • This is the current state of James Fort, at James Town, Accra
In 1673, the Royal African Company of England (RAC) built it as a trading post for gold and slaves.
Nkrumah wrote his autobiography at James Fort.
It is a historic castle and a tourist site, but James Fort is in very bad condition. The UNESCO World Heritage has asked the Ghana government to fix James Fort.
However, the government has told UNESCO that it cannot due to a lack of funds. Ghana has told UNESCO that it can only fix it unless it pays for it.
We have historical buildings across the country that can be transformed into new sightseen.

This is one hell of a tourist spot but the failure of political and traditional rulers around where it’s situated to the enormous potential of income generation through tourism is crazy .

So will Ghana be better? This is a national heritage site which could generate good money for the Ga state and promote tourism in Accra. Our leaders have destroyed everything good that can develop Ghana. As for Ga Mantsemei they are a disgrace to the Ga people and Ghanaians, the only thing they're known for is selling lands and chieftaincy disputes all over their communities.
