@mortalfrog0815 not trying to start anything but markey is definitely one of the world's best...principal at pittsburgh at 19? pretty amazing, as is winning two auditions in the same orchestra on two different instruments. pick whoever you want but markey is definitely one of the best of the generation
I'm not a fan of Alessi's playing but I am great fan of Markey, who was his student, so it's a testament to them both that the one suffered the other's style to eventually come to together professionally if not so too, in my opinion, musically. Its a shame Markey didn't stick with tenor, an instrument that needs a musical champion. His Schumann tells the tale: th-cam.com/video/GimI1xoV_ys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=D-eW9nrtMKBBfN8p
imagine that section: first trb: jay friedman second trb: frank crisafulli bass trb: ed kleinhammer that orchestra would be so kick ass... oh wait, it was
@wchurchwel At the National Brass Symposium this past Summer, Michael Mulcahy gave a STELLAR masterclass on posture and breathing. He said that what he does is pretend to "Ride the Earth" when he stands and plays. I found it quite effective.
is that a specific arrangement of "so lass uns wandern?" i think that part Mr. Mulcahy plays towards the end is a slightly different part than Brahms' original part.
imagine that section:
first trb: alessi or bousfield
second trb: rijen or mulcahy
bass trb: stefan schulz
that orchestra would so kick ass...

@mortalfrog0815 No it would definitely be Joe Alessi, then Markey, and then Charlie Vernon on bass
.

@mortalfrog0815 or Vernon or James Markey
