Looks nice but I would have put in an exhaust fan to the outdoors. They are so important. You can run the exhaust pipe through your upper cabinets which is what we did. We ran it at the top of the inside cabinets to the outside. Not a hard job as my hubby did it and he's probably not as handy as some guys but he does a good job.
I agree, it does need some sort of ventilation fan/range hood.
She said she has a window. I don't have a hood....stove right next to a window. Works for me.
of course; work with what you have, she can do a vent easy judging from all her videos plus her husband gets to use cooler power tools which is fun
Dear Elizabeth, today is September 2, 2024. I have a suggestion to add additional corbels to the cupboards on the same wall. The nook looks really sweet. And the corbels are the pearls to the little black dress. 👏
You ought to go to the stone yard and get a remnant piece of marble to go on the dresser. It’s very cute
Just a suggestion , I would have left the beadboard the natural wood color, with a matching stain to the other wood's in your kitchen ❤💜
Great idea! It could be matched with the new island
I had my doubts when you were taking out that microwave. I was wrong. It looks so much nicer without it. ❤️
WOW! Those two simple changes made an enormous impact. It's like your kitchen went back in time. Great ideas carried out beautifully.
The little island that you made for your kitchen is gorgeous, 🙂🥰 I love it, perfectly beautiful 😍❤️💜💖
Your Kitchen Is Nothing Short Of Beauty, Comfort, And Of Course, A Feeling Of Home ... Like Remembering
How The Aroma Of Food And Fresh Air Passing Through Made You Feel. Well Done You Two !
Elizabeth, removing the micro wave was exactly what your kitchen needed. Thant change made the kitchen look so much more cozy. Excellent idea.Great job you two..I love it so much.👍🙂
I hate microwaves over stove tops.....looks SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!! nice job
Actually most people don't realize that they're blocking the vent of the oven that releases the overload of hot air and sometimes those towels catch on fire so I'm relieved to see that you are making a new place for towels ❤
Absolutely love the new island
Thank you!! 😊
Elizabeth, removing the microwave looks so good. I also love the washstand.
The grain of wood is the most beautiful thing their is. It tells a story.
It looks great, Elizabeth. I just use my microwave way too much to have it disappear! 🫠
We still have one too, it’s just right around the corner now a little less obtrusively 😅
You & hubby did a great job on both projects! I love your new island, very cute. And what a transformation without the microwave... love it! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
I love it! Taking down the microwave was a good idea. I'd love to take mine down, too. It never occurred to me to find an antique piece to serve as an island, but I need to do exactly that.
It always amazes me what a huge impact just a couple of small changes can make. Love what you did and glad you showed step by step how to do each thing.
I wish I could do without a stove hood. That looks really nice. You and your husband make a good team!❤
Those little details just made your kitchen❤
Love the changes you made and that island is adorable.
A piece of bead board on the back of your old dresser/island would look nice . Really looks nice in your kitchen.
Love your changes! Great ideas.
wow a small change but such a Big change soooooooo beautiful!!!
What a difference!! Looks so warm and cozy.
Thank you 😊
Love the island! While I prefer the look you accomplished by removing the microwave, it seems much less functional. Even though you don’t have an exterior exhaust, the microwave provided recirculating filtration. Those filters catch a lot of cooking grease and odors. Also, provide great lighting for cooking. I couldn’t tolerate missing either and would have installed a hood for those functions. Reading your replies to similar comments after making my point, I realize this is for you and your happiness. Hopefully you’ll leave these types of comments for others to learn from.
I just love it Elizabeth and Cameron!!
This is Grandma from Texas. Lovely 😉
Hi Grandma! 🥰
What a breath of fresh air! All of your choices were so perfect!!
Beautiful transformation ❤️
During Covid , our over the range microwave stopped working, we had to wait months to get new one. I tried to convince my husband we didn’t need it. ( he uses it a lot 😂) I love the bead board detail, it looks like it was always there. Great idea for the island, it fits right in with the age of your beautiful home. 💖💖💖
Beautiful make over ❤!!!
Great idea Elizabeth with removing the microwave. The copper pots look stunning and the beadboard looks beautiful. Also wanted to tell you that I did the same thing with turning an old vintage dresser into an island for my kitchen. I had a piece of granite left over from my kitchen remodel and thought hmmmm I wonder if I can use this as a top for the dresser and use it as a kitchen island. I ended up attaching hooks to the back of it and hung old vintage utensils across the back. I love how it came out but love your idea too of installing the brass rail. So pretty.
But I’m sure that the microwave had some kind of exhaust fan on for when she cooks
Love both projects,,, but the island is my favorite! What a great transformation for relatively little investment. Transforms the space, especially with the amazing round patterned carpet. Love it
Thank you so much! The warm wood and overall style of it was just what I was looking for 🥰
Yaaaassssssss I absolutely love both projects ❤
We live in Michigan too! We bought a 50s fixer upper and im also looking for an antique kitchen island! I love the idea you had! Hoping to do something similar!
Love the island and redo on micro wave spot.
Great job!! Removing your microwave really opened up your kitchen❤
No regrets! I love my pot rack 🥰
Never thought about a towel bar to hide the back. Y’all did great. I’m planning a small kitchen and am thinking about not using a microwave above the stove so this was great inspiration.
Be still my heart! This is absolutely GORGEOUS
The back is not ugly. It’s an antique and the wood is beautiful.
I fixed it up… stained it and sealed it. Didn’t end up showing that process.
What a beautiful transformation!!!
Everything looks great, very charming. One concern though...since the microwave didn't have a vent feature, so you still don't have a vent. That would not pass code in most areas.
I like very much both changes to te kitchen you made. I didn’t think I was going to like removing the microwave, but I really did.
Amazing the difference it makes. I didn't know I would like your idea so much. You truly have a vision.
Your kitchen looks beautiful.
Huge difference. Bravo.
Love it all…
Very nice job! Gives a whole new look❤
Thank you! 😊
I LOVE what you did with both the island and above the stove. We use our microwave so much each day and would miss it but I love the look you created there.I'm new to your channel and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Now the microwave takes up space on the counter.
Now the microwave takes up space on the counter.
You did a terrific job, looks Great! Thanks for sharing!!!
Wow, it all really looks great! I just love your videos. So inspiring! Thank you for your Bible verses at the end of your videos! God bless you and your family in this new year❤
I appreciate this so much Sony 🥰
Just beautiful! We have the same microwave eyesore above our stove, I'd like to change. Love your idea, our kitchen and livingroom are open to each other and it does stick out like a sore thumb. Thanks for your video. ❤
What a huge difference for a very small amount work! Beautiful!
Absolutely love this It’s made such a big difference. It’s amazing what little changes can do to a space. 😊🇨🇦
The island is just the right touch to the decor of your kitchen.
Looks so much better and cosy! I have never had a microwave. The stove works great for everything :) God Bless.
Oh yes elizabeth....it looks so much better!❤
Very nice transformation! I've never understood the microwave over the stove idea. Mine is on the other side of the kitchen. But I've never thought about doing something decorative, and possibly functional, over the stove. Thanks for the inspiration! 😊
WHAT A GREAT FIND YOUR LITTLE CABINET IS AND THE NEAT THINGS U DID TO IT TO BLEND IN THE MICROWAVE NOOK TURNED OUT GREAT MAKES THE ROOM APPEAR LARGER WITH YOUR COPPER PANS
Oh my goodness what a transformation! I love the wash stand too!
I love your repurposed island - turned out great, as did the nook over the stove. I love bead board. Great ideas!
Fits so much better with your style in the kitchen! Love the copper!!!
Thanks so much! 😊
I liked the video and would've subscribed but I limit home repair channels so it's not overwhelming who is suggested to me, but as soon as I saw the Psalm scripture I subscribed right away. Continue to serve Him and be bold for Him. I love the island!!!
What a beautiful transformation! I love the antique wash stand. 😊
What an amazing transformation ❤
It looks like it’s always been their great job love your island
Amazing transformations in your kitchen!
Ohhh wow what A difference it made removing the microwave and adding the little nook. its so pretty! i love it!! And love the copper hanging there too. I down sized to a really small microwave years ago, i really don't like the larger ones and hardly use it anyways. And that island is stunning!!! Love the additions you made to it too. I would love to have an antique piece for an island. Your kitchen is gorgeous!!❤ Love the scale sitting on the island, really goes with the antique look of it! Lol lots of loves😄
Oh yeah.. love the corbles too😊
Love it! Adds so much charm! Small kitchens to me are also so charming. You have great style.
Good job! I love your scripture at the end. Thank you. It was very refreshing, and true, too!
Love the copper!
I have that same eye sore🤦🏽♀🤦🏽♀🤦🏽♀🤦🏽♀ love what you did!!🙋🏽♀👍
Your new island will be so useful and looks great in your kitchen. The new nook above your stove looks great. Great makeover!
The island and removing the microwave and replacing it with beadboard was wonderfully made! Elizabeth take a look into this song wonderfully made by Ellie Holcomb. You'll like it, I hope!
Wow, very creative island idea! And taking out the big microwave really added charm to your space! ❤❤
Elizabeth y’all did an amazing job in the kitchen. It definitely took it up a notch. Love all the copper.
The projects turned out beautifully and made a difference in the look overall. I have always disliked the microwave over the range in my house and this has given me inspiration to change the over the range space in my home. 😀❤️
It's amazing how those changes made your kitchen look even more charming vintage!! ❤ TFS my friend
Thanks so much! 😊
Both things you made over are fabulous!
Great transformation. So cleverly done. Thank you for sharing
Awe thanks so much Laura!
Wow 😮 what a great transformation! So much coziness! I just love the center island ! I have a builder grade center island that is cold and ugly ! No character… I just love that vintage piece of furniture 👍
Great idea for a kitchen island ❤its beautiful
It looks amazing. Such simple changes make a big impact. ❤
Oh, what a difference! I love it😊
I love how the copper looks against the dark wood.😊
Wow! Such a beautiful job on both and everything looks so good Elizabeth! ❤
Wow, what a difference, looks fab! Love the island too 😍
Thank you Bobbie!!
I love the new look. So pretty. I was going to put my microwave above the stove and now I think not. Good job you two. 👏
Turned out sooooo cute!
It all looks beautiful
Very charming. We are getting ready to do a full remodel on our kitchen and I love the charm functional farmhouse style which we bought a home in the country so I’m excited to start shopping for some antique pieces. We have very tall ceilings in our home so I really like the open shelves above your cabinets. Thank you for sharing.
Elizabeth, what a great refresh. Your idea using a vintage wash stand is fabulous 👏❤️👏. I also use Command Strips in my kitchen hanging paintings on my tile backsplash, it is Fun, I change the art work every season to keep it fresh and have that artistic vibe.
Great job, you can hire yourself out to help others Refresh their Spaces 🎉👏❤️.
Hi Candy, thank you!! I’m so glad you liked everything! I don’t know what I would do with command strips, they are always my go-to! 😅
@@oldmaplehome Definately, the wash stand idea was genius. I come from a long line of family members who lived with antiques and thrifted items. As a little kid I would thrift with my Mom and Aunt, I still remember what my Aunt Carol would say, make sure when you purchase furniture accents the piece can easily work in other rooms of the house. She would purchase vintage wash stands, with the marble piece and put them in bathrooms, and on landings as you go up the stairs,
To another floor.
I miss her, but always remember what she would teach me. We both would laugh, and Aunt Carol would always tell me I am still in training 😆😆 and will always be in Training!
Peace and Light to her soul.
Have a great night Elizabeth!
Such a difference ,loved the makeover where the microwave was ( looks Beautiful) and. The island was Stunning ❤
How much better it's looks with the wood old fashioned furniture piece island than a stark modern island and the pot rack over the stove...
Wood and copper contrasts nice with all that white..
Thank you so much! The warmth was needed with all the white.
I love the changes you made in your kitchen! It really amps up the charm and feels more fitting to the style of your home.
We rarely use our microwave so it has a home in our laundry room.
Thanks so much! 😊
You give me a great idea I have a hanging basket from Michael’s. I’m going to put my kitchen towels in it thanks ❤
I absolutely love the transformation from the microwave to the totally cool display area, very nicely done❤
Elizabeth, how lovely are the changes you made. So much more character & charm. Great job! 😊❤😊🙏
