What struck me the most - was how Legend brought the inner feel of the song out. Dancing in the Dark is a great song. John just proved it. While we're at it - have there ever been more poignant lyrics that have resonated with so many people - as - _I want to change my clothes, my hair, my face._ Incredible insight - in the middle of a song.
I...... never actually understood the lyrics till I heard this version. I never thought this song could make me feel sad, like a beautiful sadness, but still sad.
Massive Springsteen fanatic here. I knew John before this but I never have listened to him more. What a talent I must say. This was awesome, no one can top Bruce’s original version but this is great.
Ah man. John Legend is as appropriate a name for an artist as it gets. He made it his own, without completely changing the soul of the song. The mark of a true of a true artist.
That has to be one of the best remakes of a song I've ever heard OMG... how good his JL Almost six years later and this rendition still gives me chills.
This is a beautiful soulful rendition of a Springsteen classic. I'd like to see John Legend make a musical arrangement and sing songs from Metal bands.
John Legend is a true artist, he took this very well known song and made it completely his own and his version told a completely different story. Well done John....
OH MY GOD YOU ARE AMAZING there is something about your voice, spirit, intrinsic quality that blows me away. This mad me so sad and wanting to cry and don't know why. Your voice and energy is beautiful !!!
When he said " my Springsteen friends" I felt so jealous. I wish I had Springsteen friends so there could be someone to understand my massive musical crush for him. :(
Arrangement is awesome, doesn't take away at all from the original, it's just is perfectly translated (thanks as always Quest). And uh, yeah, by the way, John Legend is Legend in case you didn't know
Wtf, "Dancing in the dark" is already quite dark as it is, that's what's always fascinated me about the song, sang upbeat to mask all the bitterness and profound solitude in the lyrics, sad mood, its ambiguity is rather unique.
Actually, this is one of the deepests and emotional songs of Bruce. The lyrics are almost a cry for help.
John's voice is beautiful enough to make grown man cry.
That has to be one of the best remakes of a song I've ever heard
I’m not a huge John Legend fan but damn… he nailed this. Goosebumps!

I will always love Bruce Springsteen's original. With that said, John Legend's cover is AMAZING!
Almost six years later and this rendition still gives me chills.
Only an artist of magnitude can make something perfect even more beautiful; a proper homage to the The Boss. John Legend is already legendary.
magnitude no one can name shit from him. lets be honest
Massive Springsteen fanatic here. I knew John before this but I never have listened to him more. What a talent I must say. This was awesome, no one can top Bruce’s original version but this is great.
You know for a talk show Howard sure gets some great music performances.
He should have a separate show devoted to music - but doubt that will happen, he's busy enough.
I wish he could get Bruce on sometime
the studio is world class for audio recording too. These live performances have better quality than some studio albums
he pretty much created the whole acoustic genre of bands just playing in the 80s. What's even more amazing is most of these are before 9am
True data
When Legend started throwing it down at 2:21...all I could do was close my eyes and take in the purity of his voice. Dude is the f’ing sh*t!
1:39 ok
That has to be one of the best remakes of a song I've ever heard
