As a young guy growing up in the 70's/80's, this was one of the greatest hits of our age. Not just a song, but a statement at the time. VOICE CONTROL !!! The number 1 reason people are drawn into this piece is his ability to control his voice. He transitions from high to low super super smoothly so he literally communicated the song to the audience. BEST AUDITION EVER 💕💕
"You can't start a fire, worrying about little world falling apart" he sang one of the best songs ever even better. Can't stop listening him, hope he records this version.
I grew up listening to this song BUT never really took heed to the words until now! It's amazing how someone can sing a well known song in a different way that makes you hear it differently.. Amazing!
I know. Had the same experience when I heard Ruth Moody’s version of this song. I have a feeling that Jørgen has listen to her. Both versions are amazing.
Yes. Unfortunately, the brilliantly talented singers from The Voice, even its winners, do not seem to go on to careers they deserve. This show uses them for its own purposes and that's where it ends.
I've been listening to Springsteen, as well as Dylan and co, since I was a little kid. My parents listened to a lot of music and it's the same for me now. I play music myself, but a few strokes of fate meant that I couldn't listen to or play music for years. I removed everything from my life that could evoke emotions. It was only my 5-year-old son who brought me back to music when my father died in 2022. My mother then died in 2023 and music is all that remains of them. Not a day goes by where I don't listen to music by the hour. I never had access to this song by Springsteen. The way you play it, it should have been written! You don't know what a gift you have given me my friend. I don't know how many times I have cried to your song. Thank you from the bottom of my heart brother Love ❤
my dads favourite song. he passed away this august. i just heard you sing this song for the first time. mate.... you nailed it. thanks for bringing me up all the good memories of him. good luck in your career Jorgen
I'm Italian, I love Bruce Springsteen and I love this song in particular. I have listened to many talent auditions around the world and I can say that this is by far one of the most exciting performances I have ever heard.
I am one of those obnoxious Springsteen fans, but this song has never been one of my favorites... until now. The party aspect of the original arrangement covers up the beauty of the lyrics. Jorgen did a brilliant job bringing the meaning to light for me.
Made us all cry. I think this is what Bruce Springsteen meant when he wrote this classic. But of course Bruce is the boss. And he's going to Make You dance.
"Worrying about your little world falling apart." Such a powerful line when we look at what is happening in the world as we know it. This arrangement and emotion make this a truly exceptional version!
The way humans live and behave hasn't changed much at all. We are much less violent today than we have been in the past. Also rich people have always exploited the less well off, and been selfish in the process. The only thing that is different today is that we are being confronted by a climate catastrophe. What make it seem all a bit much though, is our access to instance updates from the internet.
This guy's voice is top tier. One of the best I've ever heard. So clear, so rich, the effortless vocal runs, the vibrato... We're big fans in this household!
I've watched almost every single voice audition from all around the world....and this is the only one that I truly can't stop playing over and over and over. This guy's voice is one of a kind, magical, and tells a beautiful story!!! I hope he wins the whole thing!
I agree- I’ve listened to this over and over and over, tonight. ...incredible talent!!!...I can’t wait to see the songs he will write, and the fame that will come. ...follow Ed Sheeran’s advice!...if that is what he wants to do:) ...he knows what he’s doing!
Right!! Its amazing how a song can hit much different when the arrangement in changed. Here's another example th-cam.com/video/qF0JV28vgLw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VPwKg6IxE5OmvsDf
This was the best cover of this song! Even better than the original!!! Just listen to that voice, velvety, warm, masculine, nice, tender and and and ... all in one package. He could even invite the audiences to a silence, unwilling silence, what a work! Additionally, he showed me another side of the song, that this song could be so romantic, before that was not so, honestly. Biggest respect for you Jørgen. I love you man.
No. Not better than the original. Very different. Bruce's version of his own song is firey and full of angst. The music and tempo back up that passion. It is a powerful song. This much softer version is very different with the passion of yearning for something expressed in a very different way. Both are fantastic! 🎶❤😎
You know a cover is great when the lyrics suddenly mean so much more... I had goosebumps several times. What a soft, touching voice and great control. Go on Jørgen Dahl Moe!
When I was a child, this song was basically the "dance" song from this album. The first time I truly heard the lyrics was while watching the movie Blinded By the Light. This young man just brought this song to a whole new level with his version. So beautiful and mesmerizing. He had four trained musicians hypnotized with pure joy watching him. I can't stop watching this video. Nor do I want to.
my thought exaclty, except for me the lightening struck when I heard the version by EDDIE BERMAN WITH LAURA MARLING, that was the first time I realized the lyrics are actually quite dark and sad. This guy in this audition was perfect at reflecting just that. Why the Boss chose to put such an upbeat tune to such a depressing lyric is beyond me.
It's really interesting how much this softer, more intimate interpretation completely changes the meaning of the song. It's a great song, and the fact that it can stand up to multiple meanings and interpretations, and be powerful either way, is a real testament to that.
I don't think this version changes the meaning of the song one iota. It expresses the angst of yearning in a different way. One is fierce and fiery and the other is soft and forlorn. Both are very passionate.
matoma's reaction is ALL of us. this song and it's music video has been immutably burnt into our generation's cultural consciousness... until now. jorgen took it and turned it into a heartbreakingly beautiful ballad and it totally works.
Thank you so much for all the love. I truly appreciate it

I know. Had the same experience when I heard Ruth Moody’s version of this song. I have a feeling that Jørgen has listen to her. Both versions are amazing.
I find it pretty amazing that one voice can give it another perspective!
I absolutely agree. His rendition made me listen to and hear every single word…words that never gave me food for thought before…unbelievable!
Same! Have you heard Cher's Beleive by Adam Lambert?
@@TrishaK369 Yes! It's amazing.. And I love Drew Walker's version of "Down Under"
This guy should have been handed a contract right there and then... what a unreal voice
Yes. Unfortunately, the brilliantly talented singers from The Voice, even its winners, do not seem to go on to careers they deserve. This show uses them for its own purposes and that's where it ends.
-Somebody should show this performance to "The Boss"; I bet he'd shed tears, this version, and his Voice, is divine!
Ted: Oh yeah, he would shed tears at how badly this guy messed up his song. 😰😬😱

I've lost count now somebody help me, rewind and repeat Dahl Moe Dancing in the dark wow just wow 😢😢
Thank you from the bottom of my heart brother
Love ❤
Obsessed with this. 2AM in the morning, Got this on repeat. Headphones in. Raining outside. Been a bad day.
Love to everyone ❤️
Hang in there.

@Time2Rime you're welcome. Its been a rough start to this year for sure.

Jørgen Dahl Moe's version of Dancing in the Dark is brilliant. First time I actually could make out all the lyrics. It gave the song more meaning.
Better than the original version, don’t see that often. Well done.
my dads favourite song. he passed away this august. i just heard you sing this song for the first time. mate.... you nailed it. thanks for bringing me up all the good memories of him. good luck in your career Jorgen
I hope you are doing ok friend
I'm so sorry for your loss💔❤️
@@asjdwf yeah im doing fine friend

This is one of the rare covers that takes the original to another level . Genius!
it's better than the original. The original sucks. I never liked it. Jorgen's version actually makes me like the song. :)
th-cam.com/video/vlQ9RbJWeTQ/w-d-xo.html lissen to this one as well😁 This one is really good too from the Netherlands
This is the most ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL version of this song. His voice touched my SOUL!
Mine, too! I'm absolutely in love with this guy and his Voice 😊
@Gerniyye______🍅 so true!
My son just left for college and I miss him terribly. I’m more sad and lonely than I thought I’d be, and it hits like a train. Life goes on!
Low key one of the single best The Voice auditions ever performed. So flawless
Agree completely.
To take an iconic song from an iconic singer songwriter and make it sound like this. I am blown away, out the park!
I'm Italian, I love Bruce Springsteen and I love this song in particular. I have listened to many talent auditions around the world and I can say that this is by far one of the most exciting performances I have ever heard.
One of the greatest covers of all time. It doesn't matter how many countless times I've listened to this. It gives me chills every time . 9/ 3/2024 .
He should record this - it’s something I would put on loop
I've been a Springsteen fan for 50 years. This is exquisite. I can't stop hitting Replay! Thank you, Jørgen Dahl Moe!
Lyrics have a totally new meaning for me, now!
Exactly. It has showed me another side of the song! quite different meaning.
Never heard anything so good in my 50 yrs. So gd good. The Boss needs to put this guy on his wall.
One of the greatest covers I have heard to date. His voice is haunting, confronting and heartbreaking.
A true gift is what this man has. My god...
Man, this hits hard as a 39 year old man with clinical depression. Its cathartic. Thank you.
This man completely reinvented the emotion for this song and it's even stronger now. This is a freakishly rare talent. Great rendition my man!
When sung with such clarity the genius of Bruce Springsteen’s lyrics become even more present.
Spot on 👍
“You can’t start a fire, worrying about your little world falling apart”. So simple, but so genius.
I also love Sebastian (sorry I just forgot his last name) he sings with James Arthur (SOS). I can hardly get the song out of my head. Look it up!
@@shellarmstrong1 yes he has a fantastic voice as well! He can sing almost any song
I felt that way about last season´s Natan´s Bruises (Capaldi)
I agree- I’ve listened to this over and over and over, tonight. ...incredible talent!!!...I can’t wait to see the songs he will write, and the fame that will come. ...follow Ed Sheeran’s advice!...if that is what he wants to do:) ...he knows what he’s doing!
this guy is one of the best auditions of all the voice in the world and since the creation of this show!
Oops no, not even a second bro
@@Kymaad his tone is so unique and recognizable - his audition is definitely among the best ever worldwide
Absolutely correct, those that don't agree don't have ears:)))
Normally I say, no one should cover a Bruce Springsteen Song, but this is really great. Thumbs up for Jorgen Dahl Moe
He put his own spin on it and it was unique.
@@poodlegirl55hardly unique Sam Fender did a similar cover years before
Still my favorite cover and still listening in 2024. So special!!!
I am a mega, huge, Bruce Springsteen fan, and I never thought that I would have tears in my eyes while listening to “Dancing In The Dark”
Not ever better than the original, no f way, but this version is amazing
Totally agree with every word
No. Not better than the original. Very different. Bruce's version of his own song is firey and full of angst. The music and tempo back up that passion. It is a powerful song. This much softer version is very different with the passion of yearning for something expressed in a very different way. Both are fantastic! 🎶❤😎
Not better but damn good
You know a cover is great when the lyrics suddenly mean so much more... I had goosebumps several times. What a soft, touching voice and great control. Go on Jørgen Dahl Moe!
The Best The Voice Performance EVER.👏
When I was a child, this song was basically the "dance" song from this album. The first time I truly heard the lyrics was while watching the movie Blinded By the Light. This young man just brought this song to a whole new level with his version. So beautiful and mesmerizing. He had four trained musicians hypnotized with pure joy watching him. I can't stop watching this video. Nor do I want to.
Yeah me lost faith has no job no girlfriend nothing so this is our song losers and faithless junks before we go
my thought exaclty, except for me the lightening struck when I heard the version by EDDIE BERMAN WITH LAURA MARLING, that was the first time I realized the lyrics are actually quite dark and sad.
Would love to see the boss's reaction to this video...
Exactly what I was thinking
matoma's reaction is ALL of us. this song and it's music video has been immutably burnt into our generation's cultural consciousness... until now. jorgen took it and turned it into a heartbreakingly beautiful ballad and it totally works.
This dudes a superstar
