@@KarstenHamre This artist's rendition seems based on Pete Yorn's version which Bruce has already given praise to. Regardless this was a good performance.
Bruce was very sad and feeling lonely and poured his heart into these lyrics, the producer made it into a pop dance song, but it’s certainly not the upbeat song it was made into.
@@perrymanso6841I agree, it's got a similar feeling to Hey Ya by OutKast. It's a fun dance song when you don't pay attention, but if you listen the song has a whole new meaning.
I’ve never actually listened to the lyrics of this song. It’s just always been a classic. This version is stunning. It truly gives a new meaning to it. Bruce does an amazing job, but this is next level.
Those of us fortunate enough to grow up in the 70s and 80s danced to this masterpiece by the Boss like we didn't have a care In the world. Now the years have passed and here's a slower version of the same song but with gravity and a deeper understanding; Just as time has done with us.
VOICE CONTROL !!! The number 1 reason people are drawn into this piece is his ability to control his voice. He transitions from high to low super super smoothly so he literally communicated the song to the audience. BEST AUDITION EVER 💕💕
Yes. Unfortunately, the brilliantly talented singers from The Voice, even its winners, do not seem to go on to careers they deserve. This show uses them for its own purposes and that's where it ends.
I have come back and listened to this version at least 50 times within the last 2 weeks! I cannot get it out of my head. Jorgen has such an incredible voice that truly speaks louder than most!
I know a lot of you ask what the judges said after his performance. I am a bit mad at TV2 for not uploading the full performances with comments/subtitles from the mentors and who the contestants pick. They know there are so many international fans of The Voice Norway, so I dont get whats the reason they cut it. Well, here is what they said after his performance: Yosef: Who are ypu? Whats your name? Jørgen: My name is Jørgen Dahl Moe Yosef: Where are you from? Jørgen: A little place called Andebu in Sandefjord. Ina: Yes, yes…everyone knows where Andebu is (Ina is also from Sandefjord) Yosef: How long have you been doing this? Jørgen: Probably my whole life, in a way… Yosef: Buddy, this was f***** magical Jørgen: Oh shit, a thousand thank you… Espen: Jørgen, my good man, this was crazy good Jørgen: Thank you Espen: This was easily top 3 of the best I have ever seen on The Voice…maybe even the best. Jørgen: Wow, thank you Matoma: This was so magical. This was one of the nicest moments I have had on The Voice. You have something about you that is so special. You, my friend…you can go extremely far. Jørgen: Thank you so much Ina: Yes Jørgen, there are extremely many out there who is very good at singing. Many are good at interpreting things and then there are some that are just completely genuine. You take a song and turn the whole meaning of it around, and its very few musicians and vocalists that are able to do that. i understand things like that. I really want to work with you. Jørgen: Thank you very much Yosef: This was what you envisioned before you came, right? Jørgen: Absolutely not. I guess I have to chose then.. Yosef: Whats on your mind, Jørgen? Jørgen: I think this is very difficult.. Ina: SANDEFJORD ! Everyone laughs…. Jørgen: I hear what all of you say, and I’m extremely grateful for your words. Thank you for all the nice words. And, I wonder if I maybe have to go with Sandefjord… Ina: Yeeeees (screams of joy and runs towards him to give him a hug) Ina: I look so much forard to this. After he has gone off stage: Ina: My god, that was beautiful Espen: It was insane. Shit, that was good. Ina: That was an artist… and she sings «And he belongs to me..»(to rub it in the other judges faces)
Thank you so much for the translation, all the way from New Zealand Aotearoa. Bloody amazing - Looks like they have found a new BOSS in Jorge from Norway.
I think I’ve played this songs over 30 times the last 2 days. It’s just the clearness of his voice and the feeling that resonates. The incredibly soft notes are heavenly.
I'm Italian, I love Bruce Springsteen and I love this song in particular. I have listened to many talent auditions around the world and I can say that this is by far one of the most exciting performances I have ever heard.
I grew up listening to this song BUT never really took heed to the words until now! It's amazing how someone can sing a well known song in a different way that makes you hear it differently.. Amazing!
I know. Had the same experience when I heard Ruth Moody’s version of this song. I have a feeling that Jørgen has listen to her. Both versions are amazing.
I am one of those obnoxious Springsteen fans, but this song has never been one of my favorites... until now. The party aspect of the original arrangement covers up the beauty of the lyrics. Jorgen did a brilliant job bringing the meaning to light for me.
"Worrying about your little world falling apart." Such a powerful line when we look at what is happening in the world as we know it. This arrangement and emotion make this a truly exceptional version!
The way humans live and behave hasn't changed much at all. We are much less violent today than we have been in the past. Also rich people have always exploited the less well off, and been selfish in the process. The only thing that is different today is that we are being confronted by a climate catastrophe. What make it seem all a bit much though, is our access to instance updates from the internet.
my dads favourite song. he passed away this august. i just heard you sing this song for the first time. mate.... you nailed it. thanks for bringing me up all the good memories of him. good luck in your career Jorgen
I've probably watched this 100 times. I can't explain it better than it just touches something in my soul. Brings tears to my eyes and I can't tell you why. Superb and Stellar.
I've watched almost every single voice audition from all around the world....and this is the only one that I truly can't stop playing over and over and over. This guy's voice is one of a kind, magical, and tells a beautiful story!!! I hope he wins the whole thing!
I agree- I’ve listened to this over and over and over, tonight. ...incredible talent!!!...I can’t wait to see the songs he will write, and the fame that will come. ...follow Ed Sheeran’s advice!...if that is what he wants to do:) ...he knows what he’s doing!
'..couldn't _have_ been..' ''have'' is the auxiliary(''helper'') verb for the past participle of the main verb, ''to be''('been') *not* the preposition, 'of'
It's really interesting how much this softer, more intimate interpretation completely changes the meaning of the song. It's a great song, and the fact that it can stand up to multiple meanings and interpretations, and be powerful either way, is a real testament to that.
I don't think this version changes the meaning of the song one iota. It expresses the angst of yearning in a different way. One is fierce and fiery and the other is soft and forlorn. Both are very passionate.
This was the best cover of this song! Even better than the original!!! Just listen to that voice, velvety, warm, masculine, nice, tender and and and ... all in one package. He could even invite the audiences to a silence, unwilling silence, what a work! Additionally, he showed me another side of the song, that this song could be so romantic, before that was not so, honestly. Biggest respect for you Jørgen. I love you man.
No. Not better than the original. Very different. Bruce's version of his own song is firey and full of angst. The music and tempo back up that passion. It is a powerful song. This much softer version is very different with the passion of yearning for something expressed in a very different way. Both are fantastic! 🎶❤😎
Anyone could listen to how beautifully this was sung a million times and it will always sound like and hit your heart like it's the first time every time. I'm a grown a$$ man and my eyes start leaking from the impact of his/your voice. well done young man well done✌️
I was never a Springsteen fan, not for any bad reason, just wasn't my jam and I have heard this song so many times over the years but I have never LISTENED to the lyrics or felt the emotions until now. Incredible. This is what they mean when they say pick the right song. This was a magical moment. ❤
Much like you, not a bug Springsteen fan, but I actually found myself singing along to all the lyrics that I didn't even realize were floating around in my head. That shows how many hundreds of times I must have heard it over the decades but this version..... 😮.
same! In fact, I usually turn Springsteen off. Heard this, and for the first time actually "heard" the song, just took my breath away - how beautiful the song is.
Just an unbelievable, crazy cover. An entirely different song. Jorgen gives Boss’s lyrics a poignancy that rips at your heart. After the short 1st verse you’re bleeding… I can’t stop from coming back. And he’s Norwegian. Perfect English. Great schooling near Oslo.
You know a cover is great when the lyrics suddenly mean so much more... I had goosebumps several times. What a soft, touching voice and great control. Go on Jørgen Dahl Moe!
Right!! Its amazing how a song can hit much different when the arrangement in changed. Here's another example th-cam.com/video/qF0JV28vgLw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VPwKg6IxE5OmvsDf
The Voice, AGT, The Four, etc. Of the hundreds of songs, I‘ve never heard a ballad on one of these shows that gave me transformative shivers like this. The Bosses version is great and macho, like me, but this version literally rearranged my DNA! I listened to it four times. Brother Jorgen, you could cure cancer with that voice. 🙏🏽

When I saw Springsteen in 1984, he didn't even look like himself--all pumped up and, with his teeth all shining in the dark--someone convinced him to lose his charming malocclusion. He did not look like the same guy who sang Thunder Road or E-Street Shuffle. Dancing in the Dark was corporate rock. Bruce sold out on the Born in the USA album and tour. He was ON FIRE in the 70s. The 80s he started hanging with Hollywood. My point is this kid with the guitar reminds me of the Boss in his prime--beautiful, lyrical songs about real Americans. I miss Springsteen from Born to Run, kids' hanging in the mist over the boardwalk at Asbury Park, not mugging it up with Courtney Cox on that shallow, fake-disco version of Dancing in the Dark from the '80s. The kid's voice is haunting, and he tells the truth about loneliness--just like the Boss used to in the early years, when he wore his heart on his sleeve. Bruce should hear this kid's version.
When I was a child, this song was basically the "dance" song from this album. The first time I truly heard the lyrics was while watching the movie Blinded By the Light. This young man just brought this song to a whole new level with his version. So beautiful and mesmerizing. He had four trained musicians hypnotized with pure joy watching him. I can't stop watching this video. Nor do I want to.
my thought exaclty, except for me the lightening struck when I heard the version by EDDIE BERMAN WITH LAURA MARLING, that was the first time I realized the lyrics are actually quite dark and sad. This guy in this audition was perfect at reflecting just that. Why the Boss chose to put such an upbeat tune to such a depressing lyric is beyond me.
Some singers are good, some are great and then some have this rare ability to put you in a trance; the world is shut out, all the voices silent down and you just hear this one voice and feel the cascade of emotions… Absolutely incredible! Wow!
Thank you so much for all the love. I truly appreciate it

❤ that what I was thinking
Bruce was very sad and feeling lonely and poured his heart into these lyrics, the producer made it into a pop dance song, but it’s certainly not the upbeat song it was made into.
I agree 100 percent he made it his. Forget about the Springsteen..
@@kristentegg7491 I think is nice when contradictory feelings are mixed in music.
@@perrymanso6841I agree, it's got a similar feeling to Hey Ya by OutKast. It's a fun dance song when you don't pay attention, but if you listen the song has a whole new meaning.
After decades of singing shows, this is by far and away the greatest single performance of any of them.
I’ve never actually listened to the lyrics of this song. It’s just always been a classic. This version is stunning. It truly gives a new meaning to it.

Those of us fortunate enough to grow up in the 70s and 80s danced to this masterpiece by the Boss like we didn't have a care In the world. Now the years have passed and here's a slower version of the same song but with gravity and a deeper understanding; Just as time has done with us.
Jørgen won the voice Norway 👍
personally, one of the greatest most moving auditions ever, Matoma is really sweet
VOICE CONTROL !!! The number 1 reason people are drawn into this piece is his ability to control his voice. He transitions from high to low super super smoothly so he literally communicated the song to the audience. BEST AUDITION EVER 💕💕
This guy should have been handed a contract right there and then... what a unreal voice

Oct 2024 still coming back to this banger
I know a lot of you ask what the judges said after his performance. I am a bit mad at TV2 for not uploading the full performances with comments/subtitles from the mentors and who the contestants pick. They know there are so many international fans of The Voice Norway, so I dont get whats the reason they cut it.
Well, here is what they said after his performance:
Yosef: Who are ypu? Whats your name?
Jørgen: My name is Jørgen Dahl Moe
Yosef: Where are you from?
Jørgen: A little place called Andebu in Sandefjord.
Ina: Yes, yes…everyone knows where Andebu is (Ina is also from Sandefjord)
Yosef: How long have you been doing this?
Jørgen: Probably my whole life, in a way…
Yosef: Buddy, this was f***** magical
Jørgen: Oh shit, a thousand thank you…
Espen: Jørgen, my good man, this was crazy good
Jørgen: Thank you
Espen: This was easily top 3 of the best I have ever seen on The Voice…maybe even the best.
Jørgen: Wow, thank you
Matoma: This was so magical. This was one of the nicest moments I have had on The Voice. You have something about you that is so special. You, my friend…you can go extremely far.
Jørgen: Thank you so much
Ina: Yes Jørgen, there are extremely many out there who is very good at singing. Many are good at interpreting things and then there are some that are just completely genuine. You take a song and turn the whole meaning of it around, and its very few musicians and vocalists that are able to do that. i understand things like that. I really want to work with you.
Jørgen: Thank you very much
Yosef: This was what you envisioned before you came, right?
Jørgen: Absolutely not. I guess I have to chose then..
Yosef: Whats on your mind, Jørgen?
Jørgen: I think this is very difficult..
Ina: SANDEFJORD !
Everyone laughs….
Jørgen: I hear what all of you say, and I’m extremely grateful for your words. Thank you for all the nice words. And, I wonder if I maybe have to go with Sandefjord…
Ina: Yeeeees (screams of joy and runs towards him to give him a hug)
Ina: I look so much forard to this.
After he has gone off stage:
Ina: My god, that was beautiful
Espen: It was insane. Shit, that was good.
Ina: That was an artist… and she sings «And he belongs to me..»(to rub it in the other judges faces)
Thank you for this!
Thank you so much!
Thank you! 💖💖💖

I find it pretty amazing that one voice can give it another perspective!
I absolutely agree. His rendition made me listen to and hear every single word…words that never gave me food for thought before…unbelievable!

@@TrishaK369 Yes! It's amazing.. And I love Drew Walker's version of "Down Under"
This man completely reinvented the emotion for this song and it's even stronger now. This is a freakishly rare talent. Great rendition my man!
I am one of those obnoxious Springsteen fans, but this song has never been one of my favorites... until now. The party aspect of the original arrangement covers up the beauty of the lyrics. Jorgen did a brilliant job bringing the meaning to light for me.
Jørgen Dahl Moe's version of Dancing in the Dark is brilliant. First time I actually could make out all the lyrics. It gave the song more meaning.

The only thing that is different today is that we are being confronted by a climate catastrophe. it's better than the original. The original sucks. I never liked it. Jorgen's version actually makes me like the song. :)
th-cam.com/video/vlQ9RbJWeTQ/w-d-xo.html lissen to this one as well😁 This one is really good too from the Netherlands
Would love to see the boss's reaction to this video...
Exactly what I was thinking
Never heard anything so good in my 50 yrs. So gd good. The Boss needs to put this guy on his wall.
It's like the version of the song I didn't think I would ever want or need, yet it's perfect.
Not ever better than the original, no f way, but this version is amazing
Totally agree with every word
No. Not better than the original. Very different. Bruce's version of his own song is firey and full of angst. The music and tempo back up that passion. It is a powerful song. This much softer version is very different with the passion of yearning for something expressed in a very different way. Both are fantastic! 🎶❤😎
Not better but damn good

I couldn't agree more bro. His heavenly voice heals the Soul and DNA.
Absolutely incredible Performance! His Voice get's me chills! Everytime I'm listening to this, Tears are running down my Face!
Yeah me lost faith has no job no girlfriend nothing so this is our song losers and faithless junks before we go
my thought exaclty, except for me the lightening struck when I heard the version by EDDIE BERMAN WITH LAURA MARLING, that was the first time I realized the lyrics are actually quite dark and sad. This guy in this audition was perfect at reflecting just that. Why the Boss chose to put such an upbeat tune to such a depressing lyric is beyond me.
1:58 I love her look over to say "are you hearing this?!" Meanwhile he's already in tears 🥹🙌🏻
Some singers are good, some are great and then some have this rare ability to put you in a trance; the world is shut out, all the voices silent down and you just hear this one voice and feel the cascade of emotions… Absolutely incredible! Wow!
