Kevin Garnett Blocks/Goaltends Shots Even After Whistles

  • They finally did a feature about this -- aired on ABC on March 14, 2010 during halftime of the Celtics-Cavaliers game -- but any KG fan knows that Kevin Garnett has been doing this for years. He's the originator of a tradition that is now often called "The Garnett," and is copied by other players.
Essentially, KG doesn't want to let his opponents have the psychological edge or confidence derived from seeing a dead-ball fall through the net, so he goaltends and snatches everything down after the whistle.
Big thanks to my boy xiehaorong for this clip.

Big KG fan and I loved that he does that cuz as a shooter, I try to get extra shots in when I can all the time in games... when I see one go in it gives you confidence...So its smart to do what KG does to break up rythym. A lot of good shooters like to get their mechanics straight so when KG does that you cant tell if you've straightened it out.... Oh and if you hate KG, you hate basketball and you've probably played ball cuz if you have then you appreciate what he does night in night out....

Boston's Big 3 were all past their primes. They had a very young Rondo at point and a young Perkins. They won their championship with 3 aging stars and 2 young players. Meanwhile, Miami's Big 3 are all in their primes. Chalmers has developed into a nice PG, and Miami has a good bench with a lot of solid veterans like Miller, Haslem, Battier. Therefore, LeBron is a punk, not KG or Allen.
