Definitely not this one. It lacks the presence that a typical S Class has. I don't know what it is exactly but on the outside anyways it just doesn't look like that boss car.
I appreciate the conservative exterior and I like some of the powertrain tech like the mild hybrid system and rear steering, but honestly, the interior tech has just gotten to be too much for my taste. That gauge cluster especially could have been better implemented. At least there’s still a V8 for now, though.
They really have the best interiors on the market. Miles better than BMW. The interior lighting is my favorite part especially at night, plus the quality is top notch

While the ambient lighting I'd say is a gimmick made for instagram stories. Interior quality? Miles better than BMW is probably overestimating. It's closer to "sub-par to BMW" quality, although in my region Mercedes' interior quality isn't even better than a Peugeot. I'm a hardcore Mercedes enthusiast and I'm already on my 3rd Mercedes. But frankly, this isn't the early 10s anymore where Merc's interior was something to be proud of..
0:30 actually tesla started utilizing Mercedes parts-bin items such as shifter stalks, window switches, etc from older Mercedes before they actually took off.
You can really tell how quiet it is inside the car by how you speak. Normally you're speaking pretty loud when you're driving an old car or screaming while ripping around in the caterham for example. But here you're just talking very quiet and soft

Exterior is a bit.... anonymous, but other than the ipads and the slightly too anonymous exterior this is an amazing car. Wheel looks great, would be as in place in the SLS AMG as well.
This car is the ultimate executive car service sedan. No cost is spared in the pursuit of quickly paced comfort. I have known plenty of Chrysler 300Cs and old school Crown Vics that have been used for car services. This Mercedes? Wow.
I truly think the previous generation interior blows this new one out of the water. This new one looks old to me. They copied the iPad like center screen which looks hideous to me personally.
Hi really nice test drive !! I know a lot of people don't like the new screen. So guys i already sat in one with a georgous red interior and compared it to the old one the w222 side by side and let me tell you that it is a big step up, i don't know how to explain it but it feels even more luxurious. The door panel,the ambient light feels more special,. I think it's a perfect definition of modern art. This car is all about the driving experience. It feels more spacious in front because of the very minimalist dashboard. That's the kind of car from the exterior that looks simple but the engineering behind is enormous.
Great video and it's fun hearing how much you enjoy it. I've been an S-class fan for a long time now, but I personally can't stand the new S-class because I highly dislike the interior too much... That aside though being driven around in one is quite nice and driving it is very nice until that interior starts getting to me and fun fact; it's not mainly about the middle screen, it's about the instrumentcluster screen, the wheel and the front airvents...

the W222 in my opinion is a much better looking/more classy car, inside and out. I really don't think they hit the mark with this generation the way they did with the w140, w221 and w222. More reminiscent of the w220 if anything
Rear end looks like the 2013 through 2017 Lexus LS460. The interior with all the piano gloss panels and the screens won't age gracefully. Compare this to a 2013 S65 AMG. The interior and woodwork of that car was magnificent. Nothing beats the V8 sound though.
Those rectangle HVAC outlets and large screens remind me of subway ticket vendor machines. The owners might love them though since they ceased to take subways a long time ago.
The W126 -- the last of the classic S-class. How are those electric door handles supposed to work if the car gets covered in freezing rain? Regular door handles are difficult enough, but at least you have a chance of working them loose if they're covered in ice.
I don't understand why the s580 has a 4 liter v8. Shouldn't 580 mean 5.8 liters? They've been doing the same thing with their AMG models. Does anybody have a reason as to why mercedes changed up the names of their cars?

Always asked myself , is the rear infotainment + seat controls have a "taxi mode" where the customer can't fiddle around everything ? Or you just hope they don't start playing with the climate controls etc
What a machine. I’m not to keen on the haptic touch buttons in the steering wheel and neither I like the idea of hvac controls in a tablet. Not that I have the possibility of buying one lol. Great video also! Loved this one

@@TedwardDrives It seems excessive to me, and one could argue a brand new S-Class shouldn't be graded on the same basis as 'pretty much every car'. :) The last time I saw that level of orange peel was in a Ford Fusion rental car I had. Aside from my AMs, I've had an '02 E39 M5 and a '14 MB E550, and neither had anywhere this amount of orange peel in the clearcoat.
Look closely at the expensive cars. I assure you there’s better paint coming from Acura than some of the heavy hitters. I’m not defending it either. Just saying it’s become normal
I like the dash and infotainment system better in the EQS. This one looks like the accountants ran out of money. The screens look like a 'tacked on' afterthought.
When I first saw the design I wasn't a fan, but seeing this video has definitely changed my mind. Once again Mercedes has raised the bar to another dimension, and have left BMW and Audi to desperately play catch up.

theres a little electric motor that will open the door without the handles if you hold unluck and they are strong enough to crack thru ice
big sedans or wagons that seem like they're floating on the road and can cruise confortably at 300 km/h are my favorite
The implementation of the gauge cluster looks the same to me as the new infotainment screen on the LS 500, an afterthought.

to be fair they haven't followed that rule in a very long time. Even the old C63 was a 6.2 Liter.

Exterior is cost cutting and annoying. Digital displaced also cut cost. The chassis and handling are incredible and id say worth it
