Short and simple install on how to hardwire any radar to your mirror. This method is simple and easy and does not require that much handy experience lol. I like this way because the wire is extremely short and not crossing over your field of view or poking out of your fuse box from tapping into the fuse. This install can be applied to ANY 3RD generation IS, 2014-2020 250, 350, 200T, 300.
Hopefully this was easy to understand. I got new camera gear and didn't know the stock microphone was cheeks. Thank you! This video helped me install in my 2010 Lexus RX 350. Small red cable into the bottom left port (shared with another cable) and the small black cable directly to the right of the red (also shared with another cable).

What rear view mirror is that?
my 21' LC 500 only has pin in left lower with one to the right empty. The one above the "hot" lead seems to be the ground but doesn't work. If I use the body of the metal control board as a ground the radar detector only works with the engine running as it shuts off maybe due to low voltage with ignition on and engine off. Then when engine running I get a per-collision system error. Any ideas? Maybe a wire tap to light assembly nearby?

I do prefer the R7. I had the Valentine V1 gen1 so thats what I can compare it to (not the gen2). But it just has more features overall. Not really necessary but it is definitely nice that it's there. I really like all the visual features on the R7, the large window screen, colored display, animation for different bands, sound customizability, clock, compass, speed. There's just a lot of options to make the radar "yours", compared to the Valentine where it is just solely a radar detector with no customizability. I mean they both perform great and have very long range. The R7 does pick up some false K bands from Honda's and those door detectors but you can turn it off if it is not used in your county or fine tune the frequencies to mute those. There is an update to fix it also. Long reply lol but yeah for the money I love the features on the R7!

Hey Nick, yeah I did but it still picks up false alarms sadly. The rear view mirror in here was a dash cam mirror that slapped right over the mirror by Vantop. The mirror itself came out of a wrecked NX200t "oem +". It was on ebay for so cheap I had to get it. Haha yeah just been really busy with school and my internship but I do have some stuff laying around that I will slap on pretty soon. Thanks for checking up!

It’s clipped down but they are 2 pieces and slide within each other, you can separate the 2 pieces to make it come out easier and then put them back together

Got mine off amazon they should have multiple sized ones in the bag with them. You can look up your radar name and put mirror tap after it to see
How did you get that wire cover off so easily? The top part slid down for me but the bottom part won’t come off and I don’t want to break it. I also have a 200t.
The bottom is snapped in, it is basically its own clip

My Uniden DFR1 has the same circle plug thing that you removed to wire in the new Uniden R7. Do you have any recs for mirror taps that have the circle plug vs. the internet plug?

There's a write up on ClubLexus for the GS, I've read you tap your positive to the pink wire (rain sensor) and negative to the white wire.

How much has having a radar saved your ass? I don’t have one, mostly just speed on the freeway and mostly at day to see, speed when I can see there’s nothing and when coming around a bend or whatever I slow down till I see if anything else is ahead then speed some more, but sometimes you don’t always see em with cars there, $400 is a lot! Didn’t know they were that much
lol saved me a ton, I drive a lot and there's always cops waiting on streets and state troopers on the highway with laser out near me. The first couple of days with the radar I had a laser pointed right at me after an overpass. I've had 2 speeding tickets and tbh they cost almost as much as the radar lol so I think of it as an investment, but yeah cops can see your speed before you spot the unit. Also some cops can see if you have a radar but the one I got isn't trackable by them.

@@EdibleEcho I mean as soon as the signal from them reaches the radar that's when it detects either party. Just on their end is accuracy and calibration since there's traffic in both directions and multiple cars from afar.

hey! I noticed you have a dashcam mirror over your existing OEM mirror. I have the same. Did you ever think about getting a mounting bracket/plate for it so you dont have to have the OEM mirror there?
I ended up switching dashcam since I got sponsored one. I wanted my mirror since I upgraded it to the frameless OEM+ style. Your idea would be great for a cleaner look!
