Apparently Netflix is basically being the new generation of 4kids but without the censorship in most anime. Not to mention they ruined Evangelion by re dubbing the series for no reason. Even glitter force is just as censored as all of the 4kids dubs. It’s basically 4kids all over again.
I totally agree with you. I expected too much when I started watching the show and by the 1st half, I was like Bleh... Anime culture is so so much more. If they couldn't dive in completely, why ruin with foe us with some half baked effort??

I agree! This documentary has no soul. It felt pretty lifeless and it really missed the mark. I know they have anime exclusive on their platform but I should also watch other anime that you can also stream elsewhere, other than Netflix. Sorry, I just want to give my 2 cents on the matter. Enter the Anime is nothing but weak sauce and it doesn’t do a good job of telling us viewers of what anime really is. Very confusing and disappointing.

I said this before and I will, never stop, say it again: ANIME IS NOT A GODDAMN GENRE; IT IS AN ARTFORM!!! To the idiots who made this insulting documentary, they need to find another line of work or find another hobby and leave.
I’m sure the Adi Shankar clips were edited out of context. He is a generally weird guy but a fantastic film maker who deserved more respect than what he was given. The rest of this documentary was some dumb random American chick wandering around Japan just saying repeatedly “I don’t get it.”
I agree, I haven't watched all of Castlevania but it's wonderfully produced and I wish they would've focused on that instead of the "quirky weirdness" that they made the focus of the doc
Maybe all the prominent anime youtubers can bring the community together and make a big collab documentary to post to TH-cam. Or funny enough sell it to Netflix since they clearly don’t care what’s on their platform as long as it’s exclusive. lol
Honestly, I wasn’t as bothered by Enter the Anime. To me Netflix is the normie platform and from what I saw of the documentary it was marketed at normies. So of course it’s expected to only talk about series on your platform. If it was made for a different audience like anime fans I might think differently. I was already expecting possible issues from the moment the normal LA woman told the audience what her task was. She says at the start she’s not an insider to the hobby by any metric. The only issue with this documentary I could see caring about would be how the normies are being directed. How and what they’ll think of anime and its community of fans after watching this documentary.
I agree it was definitely marketed at newcomers, it’s just the perception of the medium that I didn’t like, and it would’ve been nice to talk about some historically significant series instead of their own things. Either way it makes me big sad

Netflix: We hate anime but we also make people watch our *live action* versions of them.
A few years ago, a similar documentary was made, I think by STARZ. It was also bad, maybe even worse than this one.
