Hey guys - hope everyone is staying safe! I for one and going to sit back and replay this game about 4 more times! Some quick corrections - -Limbs can technically be severed still, but ONLY while the zombies are still walking around. Their arms/legs sometimes breakaway and instantly disappear now. Previously, you could break pieces of their body away all the time, and each limb had its own physics associated with it. This has been removed - likely to improve performance. -As someone pointed out - the "gridlike" appearance of shadows that I mention is called dithering and is used to help improve performance. Still doesn't change the fact that it's more noticable now in RE3 and there's still no option to bypass this with more powerful hardware -the palehead I showed was also used in an RE2 DLC, but there are new standard zombie models (maybe one or two - hard to tell) -One of the titles overlaps at some point in this video (5:57)... was afraid I'd miss one, the footage all looks identical so it's hard to catch
Some of the "new" zombie models are still pretty much the same, just a different hair color or just a different shirt. That is definitely 1 thing I do wish the different developer team would have done is given different models or just some but I guess it makes sense since they made the games at the same tim to use the same Assets and models. Assets are re used even from re7 which again, makes sense because re2r was in production already. Just a nitpick of mine but nothing game ruining.
Re3 is an action game...re2 is a survival horror. Everyone was so excited about the nemesis after dealing with mr x, it's a shame he felt short of expectations. Anyone that played re 2 spent at least a couple minutes in a save room trying to decipher where those foot steps were coming from lol.
The first I played, nemesis scared me shitless but once I knew where he was coming he wasnt scary whereas mr x still terrifying me because he’s actively looking for you
Good catch. Was sorting through lots of footage trying to find examples of new zombies and couldn't recall seeing the paleheads in RE2 - but that's right, they did premiere in that Ghost Survivor DLC. Threw me off because I'm used to them being a new enemy in that Dead Factory area in RE3. That being said - my point still is valid, there are a few new zombie models in RE3 - just not that particular one.
Nick930 actually YOUR POINT DOESNT STAND! Zombie models are all the same as Remake 2. The only think you might see different is a different skin color for the skinny chick zombie but the models are all the same. However your POINT WOULD STAND IF you’re criticizing NEW ENEMIES. Since aside from Nemi we got Hunters Alpha, gamma and the spider looking-Deimo-something guys. However their appearance should be expected since we got them on OG Remake 3. The only surprise compared to OG Re3 is Lickers Sporting since they didn’t show in RPD on OG Re3
I feel RE3 was rushed. In some points so many things have downgraded for no reason. They ignored so many missions form the OG which is a dissapointment
@@MrOiram46 If they end up doing that - that's a huge slap in the face to fans. Charging players for the rest of the content that was all packaged together back in 1999? They should at least confirm their plans ahead of time if they're going to go that route.
RE3 has more replay value for me. I was wowed by RE2 more at first, but once I'd finished it, I couldn't finish it a 2nd time as found it boring. Whereas RE3's action focus kept it more interesting. RE2 is the better made game, but 3 gives better quick bursts of fun IMO.
Yeah he was even far more aggressive in the psone game, they give the illusion of aggressiveness here with the roar and leap. In the psone version if he knocked you down he picks you up and stays on you.
I loved his first form and his overall design in the remake much more than the OG.....and I wished they kept him humanoid during his later transformations. I was kinda underwhelmed when they made him more beastial...and animalistic...kinda took away the fear factor. I understand it was mainly to show the aspect of his sporaddic and unstable mutations that had been 'unleashed' as you damaged him significantly. But still if only they kept his humanoid form intact.
On par with Mister X on the remake Mr.X was scarier in the terms of being stalked...and tension. The footsteps. The goddamn music. He was like the Jason/Myers of RE. Which made him scary. As for the Nemesis...he's scarier in the terms of fight or flight reaction and the sheer thrill of adrenaline of the fright to run away. In short it's the stress reaction of fight or flight. Despite him being hellbent more relentless and aggressive. and much more dangerous. I liked him in the PSone game too....and I liked his design (1st form) only in the the Remake. If only they had kept him more humanoid albeit with the mutations. In the PsOne...Nemesis 2nd form was good. They kept his overall human shape with the mutations of more tentacles. Here in the Remake he's more animalistic...and beastial...which kinda underwhelms it.
AL Lusive I actually thought his beastial form was sweet when I first saw it in the trailer, because of how big of a mutation it was. But he changed into it way too quick, the complete lack of humanoid nemesis AI stalking the player like With Mr X is what broke the game for me
I had a feeling this would happen when they announced the game only a year after RE 2 Remake. This game needed AT LEAST another half a year in the oven before being shipped out.
No bro the game looks and play fine it was ready that's why capcom shipped it, if there will be any problem with the game they will delay it, atleast capcom is not EA

2 to 3 years, that's the minimum amount of time necessary to make a good AAA game
The game is great, only real negative is its length. Its a more action focused title which is a turn off for some ppl but I enjoyed the game a lot, not mentioned in the video but the boss battles are great compared to the meh RE2 bosses. I just wished they took the time they worked in the multiplayer game and put that i to RE3 length cause Resistance is garbage imo
Yeh, I prefer his first form tbh. After that he kinda becomes a generic animal (like you could replace him with any other creature in the franchise at that point and the behaviour would be exactly the same) as opposed to a zombie tyrant capable of cognitive thought processes like using weaponry.
Not entirely true. Jill and Carlos make comments about enemies' weakness "You don't like fire, do you?" "Aim for the head, got it" but they aren't to the same degree as RE2.
@@naraku2099 I know. But what I'm saying is the comments Leon and Claire make when they're aiming at zombies. I'm sure you know that. Like "what the?" "Jesus!" etc.
@@jakeskyline11 It was both of their first time seeing zombies and such, though. Jill had already survived the mansion incident, so they weren't anything new or surprising to her.
It just annoyed me that they had Jill (or Claire for the matter) cursing so much. I care less of the cursing. But when they force that crap on a personality you know isn't like that. Imo kills the character you grew up knowing. So it kinda made not care so much of the new Jill or Claire.
@@thomassantos93 The story for what there was was decent, but the Nemesis moments... Capcom, you can do better. Hopefully they take their time with the rumored Resident Evil 4 remake.
Zyndall Media yeah it felt like Nemesis’s attack were so slow his transformation was really weak. I had a much harder time dealing with Mr X throughout the whole game on the remake, Mr X was much scarier too. The intensity i had in the original re3 and re2 remake just wasnt there for re3 remake
It definitely doesn’t look rushed, but I‘m disappointed in the downgraded zombie destruction. It was weird when people wanted human dismemberment in Jedi Fallen Order, but in this game it’s to be expected, and definitely shouldn’t be downgraded. *EDIT:* For people talking about the game feeling rushed, I disagree. RE2 only feels longer because it had 3 other nearly identical runs to pass the time.
Both games were supposed to be on one disk but they got greedy and decided to sell it a part , I really wished if they took the same amount of time with RE2, I heard a Rumor that they already working on RE4 remake.
The big problem is that is was basicly developed alongside RE2R by the time RE2R was out it was in development for around 2 years. But that's also the big problem, RE2R clearly had either a more talented team or vision or both. They should have waited for RE2Rs release and only then actually start development on RE3R to improve on it.
Re 2 is a much better game. Sadly, they rush resident evil 3 Nemesis. They had to wait at least a year more of development until realising the game. I'm gonna to wait to buy it.
This. Sure after a while you figure out how he works and he is less scary but even then there are some surprising moments. Nemesis basicly just boiled down to a jumpscare that blocks your way for a bit and is more of a bother than something than anything else.
They could have delayed a year and spent more time for the campaign But nope, after Operation Raccoon City, RE6 and Umbrella Corps, they still try to inject multiplayer into RE
Multiplayer was outsourced to a different company. They only tacked it on to make the purchase feel more worthwhile. If it wasn’t there, you’d just get the same exact game without multiplayer. But they still should’ve delayed it
Exactly. The problem for me is not that RE3R had not enough time. Is that Capcom moved the assets to make this weird multiplayer campaign that makes you wait for fifteen minutes until you find a room to play ¬¬
I feel like it's silly to say Nemesis's AI was a "downgrade" when clearly he wasn't supposed to play like Mr. X at all. I fully agree he should have been used more, especially in a larger map, but it wouldn't make sense for him to patrol from the ground. Unlike X, Nemesis's specialty is ambush. This is perfectly exemplified in how he constantly usurps Jill, dropping down walls, leaping in front of her, etc. I wouldn't trade those mechanics whatsoever, as they really set him apart as a relentless stalker, adapting immediately to the player's fight or flight depending on which direction the camera was facing. It's all those little tricks up his sleeve that put him a cut above X's comparatively simple patrol logic-lassoing Jill the moment she tries to run through a door, smashing her head against a brick wall, stunning her with a deep roar… What he needed was some sort of alert mechanic, like a noise meter. Make too much of a ruckus with your gun or explosives while clearing zombies, and he would eventually be drawn to your location. Maybe he'd even give a roar as warning, before dropping down and initiating a momentary patrol of the area similarly to X. That way, the player would at least feel the anxiety of not knowing whether they should engage zombies or leave them be so as not to attract the bipedal steam locomotive. After all, X was merely tasked with killing any and all witnesses inside or around the police station; Nemesis has to search an entire city just to find one target. He's not gonna waste time waltzing back and forth through the streets when he could simply listen out from the rooftops.
That noise mechanic and roar warning actually sounds really cool. You are shooting zombies making your way through and you hear a "STARRRRRRRRSSSS" in the distance thinking to yourself: "I just fucked up". They should have used the free chasing Nemesis waaaaay more in the remake, for me, the Power Station - Subway path was the scariest part of the game. They turned Nemesis into stage 2 too early in my opinion.
@@ignaciocarda6004 I agree. It's a shame that first chase is so short, because Nemesis's combat abilities are super impressive if you stick around. Stuff like if you're standing near a wall, he can grab Jill and slam her head against it, or sometimes he'll grab her and spin her around before elbowing her in the face. Hell, he can even walk into the garage safe room if you try to backtrack from the main street. If only the whole game had that element of surprise...
@@conorkiddell9245 I'm not talking about RE2 here. Just saying that Nemesis was scripted in original RE 3 as well. It's nothing new to what Littlecheeseit is complaining about.
@@MaggotAddict21 what do you mean by "your point"? she is complaining about Nemesis being scripted but doesn't know that he was scripted in original as well. That's all I'm saying, don't try to twist my words.
@@conorkiddell9245 Also in RE 2 remake, Mr X felt unscripted in R.P.D only and RE 3 remake doesn't stay in one place for too long otherwise Nemesis would have been unscripted as well.
@@frankcastle8363 If Nemesis is always Stalk us on any Environments like Mr X did, it will be a hell for us, because he will *Outrun us* in any minutes. It's a diffrent case for Mr X, because we can Outrun him and use many advantages like his walking sound and everything. So don't think its wise to put Nemesis cut loose and freeroaming the entire map where he could outrun us any moment because of his speed and his Tentacle, well my idea is if Capcom make a Nightmare difficulty where Nemesis has a Mr X pattern like RE2 then it will be give us a new pressure and gives a Nightmare difficulty a new *"meaning"*
Yep. At first, I was thinking that Nemesis would leap to many rooftops of buildings just to search for Jill but Nemesis doesn't stalk and was scripted to show up or vanish on certain parts of the map, which disappoints me further.
@Robert Phillips now that you put it that way, I can only imagine being a building with Nemesis anywhere, stalking you. He'd just knock off the walls and get you. On the contrary mr. X chasing us throughout a city wouldn't even be nearly as terrifying as nemesis doing the same.
I haven't played re3 remake yet, but at the moment I'm playing re2 remake and all I can say is that the fact that a huge guy with a hat roams around and tries to find you is freaking terrifying. Also the fact that you never know from which direction he is coming makes me very anxious. When I first incountered mr. X I knew that bullets would do nothing to him and that the only thing I can do is run for my life and use flash grenades to blind him and get past him (because he has a huge hit box and at corridors the only way to escape is to blind him). I am really enjoying the game and I can say that it is undoubtedly one of the best survival horror games I have ever played.
Stai Chris when i first played re2 back in the day i never encountered Mr.X didnt know about him till a friend told me. Edit: now hes all anyone talks about.
@@ArcherDrake287 For me it isn't the best way to get away. It is a waste of bullets and he will start chasing you after a while. The best way is to use stun grenades imo.
@@Vidzette Nah I believe the team that made re2 remake (r1 in japan) is creating it when they're done resident evil village. The leaked schedule showed re4 remake would be releasing in 2024 so that's enough time for the Japanese team to create it.
@@advmx3 They also toned down their review score by doing this. xD Capcom were on such a good streak with RE7 in 2017 and then RE2 remake and DMC5 in 2019 (although I didn't quite like the idea of DMC5 ret-conning things and trying to cut out Dante, but that's just the producer being a donkey,) I thought Capcom finally got their act together after the trash we know as RE6, but apparently it was only a short-lived moment and here we are, they're going downhill again. I guess this is typical Capcom, up, down, up, down...
The reason that the construction site is not seen in Resident Evil 2 (7:16 time) is probably because it already burnt down. Remember that RE 2 took place after Jill was infected by Nemesis (after the boss fight in the Big clock area). Meaning, the sequence would be: RE 3 first half (before Jill was infected), then RE 2, then the second half of RE 3 (Jill has woken up at the hospital).
The clock tower in Re2 was the scariest for me. I didn't know if he could hear what was happening or if he could enter the room so I freaked out whenever I heard his footsteps get closer.
I feel that the shotgun damage got nerfed. In Re2 when I shoot a zombie with a maxed out shotgun in the legs the zombie falls in an instant. In Re3 it takes a couple shots to turn a zombie into a crawler with the shotgun. It could be that zombies are faster in Re3 so it’s harder to aim at core parts of the body, but overall great game and had fun with my first play through. I do feel though that Re2 had a better soundtrack.
Mr x is my favourite out of him and nemesis,he was way harder to deal with and he appeared more often, but most importantly,he had the best sense of style
Ikr! when I playing RE3 Remake I was running from Nemesis. I thought I was fine because I thought he would just walk like Mr X, I look behind me and I see him charging at me like a football star and I had a heat attack
I feel the opposite - well.. partially. RE3 does absolutely feel less "Smart," but it also feels more like a "Movie" and less like a game. You're never really exploring the city.. you're just running back and forth completing a single string of door unlocks. RE2 had several different doors - some optional, some required to progress further. It felt more expansive despite being inside one building.
@ManThatKnows uh. Excuse me but who the heck are you speaking for cause you are not speaking for me. Doom eternal is a video gamey ass video game and it is perfect.
you are absolutely right although i was disapointed that park and clocktower was excluded,i still enjoyed every minute of this new game even so. and the graphics are AMAZING !
The gore of RE2 required bodies to not despawn. In RE3, because there are many more zombies, having zombie bodies despawn would be necessary so the game runs well.
A little late, but the RE engine wasn't really optimized to have so many things on screen at once. Which is why zombies in the background move at like 15 FPS and why they no longer lose limbs and why they even explode and disintegrate later on Having a massive enviorment full of zombies and deead bodies simply put a lot of strain on the engine and due to how rushed the game was, they clearly didn't have time to come up with a good workaround
I wish we could re-enable the ragdoll and gore physics that were toned down, at least on PC. The game already runs fantastic on my setup, I don't see why they couldn't re-enable it as an "ultra" graphics option, if they truly believe it's that demanding of a setting. I mean, come on, have we all forgotten about future-proofing games? PS5 and XSX are coming out this holiday, give it to us PC players, then re-enable that feature on the new consoles if these ones can't handle it yet.
Maybe it wasn't implemented. RE3R was made by another team while RE2R was being developed. Just a year after actually. So, maybe when they developed and implemented GORE and ragdoll, the RE3Team thought it would be way too much of a work, or maybe they put that as a priority that was cut out to add more things? I don't know. For now, let's enjoy the game for what it is, because I do think it's fun as hell.
I noticed that the zombies don’t react to bullet impact as much as they did in 2, I really wish they would’ve just waited a bit and released 2 & 3 as one game with three campaigns, Claire, Leon, Jill/Carlos, telling the entire Raccoon City story in one big game (that would still be finished by most players in under 5 hours).
lmaooo if only corporate greed didnt exist lol... their gonna milk the hell out of these remakes... I expect code veronica to be out by late 2021... RE4 by 2022-23
@Guile Solomon I played both 2 religiously and 3 a lot since release. In my opinion 2 is a better game overall. But 3 is not a bad game by any means, just not as good.
Guile Solomon no, it all depends on what you like more survival horror, or survival action. Re3 is more on the survival action side. Where as re2 is more a survival horror game.
Re3 is more of a survival action type game, where as re2 is a survival horror game. It just depends on which you like more. For example I like the action survival type, but I also like the survival horror. So in my opinion re3 is just as good as re2. Love both games though.
@@denariousNickGee Agree, but one thing is certain, both RE2 remake and RE3 remake aren't better than the original PS1 titles, and I'm not saying this nostalgically since I played them recently as well. They just straight up have more content which is embarrassing for Capcom since they are 2 decades old by now.
I think it's mainly because DMC 5 was made by a whole other team who had way more time to develop, and RE3 was definitely rushed on certain aspects, not just the campaign but also technically.
The footsteps in RE2's police station hallway have more bass as if the floors are hollow (which I prefer) but RE3 sounds more realistically like walking on a marble floor. A small change I've noticed, but since footsteps are one of the main consistent noises in the game, it does make a minor difference to point out.
While 3make is a very good game. RE2 remake is nearing perfection. The game has a perfect amalgamation of both the old and the new. It’s clunky movements mirrored the “tank” controls of the originals. While dodging can be fun and useful it eventually serves to break the game by allowing for hoarding of ammo early on in order to breeze through mid to late game with your stacks and stacks of rounds. This makes for an easy play through in almost every difficulty level. In comparison RE2 remake allows for the skipping of zombies but always at the cost of either ammunition or valuable sub weapons. And if those tactics were used by the player, the trade off was that the return to those areas were always increased In difficulty. For example, ignoring zombies and lickers in “RPD 1” meant you saved time and ammunition, but when you return for “RPD 2” you would be contending with not only all the enemies you left before but also a few more plus Mr. X. This made players think more tactically and plan routes during their play through, tacitly eliminating enemies in RPD 1 to make subsequent trips easier. Also, though I do like 3make very much and it’s really replayable. I found the aforementioned qualities of RE2 remake made it even more replayable. Trying to come up with strategies that reduced your play time as much as possible in order to unlock infinite ammo weapons while denying access to them if you where going for another S+ play through. The point system is far too forgiving in 3make. Plus higher tier ranks are not exclusive to people completing it without “new game +” items. Whereas in RE2 remake you were only allowed to use the upgraded knife. If any other “infinite ammo weapons” were used the player would be restricted to an “A” rank at best. I feel like this feature serves the game VERY well as most classic games are largely unforgiving. Finally, I wanted to mention how I felt about the pacing. As someone whose played roughly 300+ hours of re2 remake (story mode alone) its my opinion that it’s absolutely perfect. Though I’ve only played about 15 hours of 3make I can see it won’t be as good. The way RE2 plays out is perfect because of the trade off of between ammo conservation and subduing the hoards of enemies. What I mean to say is, if you’re on you first couple play throughs you will likely be slaying everything you encounter. This is very fun and rewarding. You will constantly looking for more ammo and weapon upgrades to assist in your war against the undead. This will add to the tension of the game. If you are on your 100th playthrough you know what enemies need to die and what upgrades you will be worth getting. And in order to save time you’ll become a minimalist by nature. This will add a different tension of racing a clock along with a shortage of ammo. Leaving you a game that’s worth playing the 100th time as much as the very first time. But that’s just my opinion. I encourage you to play both games at least 15 times. They’re both fantastic!
I think that RE 2 is a bit better than RE 3, simply because it does not feel as short or rushed as RE 3 does. I do miss the dodge roll though. If they had that mechanic in RE 2 it would be near purfection for me. Mr X is PTSD inducing, and is one of the scariest things I had ever seen in a video game. I rather go up against a Deviljo in Monster Hunter 3 than go up against MR X again
I feel like re2 does a much better job at being a horror and exploring game where you solve things yourself while fearing Mr X, while re3 ends up being much more of a linear story-heavy game where you're just meant to fight something at the moment it comes. I still believe it works well, it's just a very different concept than before.
I actually think they downgraded the physics just for the sake of nemesis. If you keep shooting zombies and they stumble towards you, you would get fucked by a running nemesis in no time. The game does not look rushed, but it is short. Heck, the OG RE3 is short, ifnyou did not bother to go back track everything and shiz. I just miss the choices they did back in the original.
Finally a RE3 remake criticism comment I agree with. I love both RE3 OG & Remake, but they’re both too short. I beat the original the first in 5hrs, the remake in 6 hrs. Nemesis is also scripted in both too. He doesn’t appear that often when in non-boss fights in both
@SHEHARYAR KHAN I think they just got lazy and expected people to buy it anyways. The game was almost guaranteed to use assets from the 2 previous games regardless
@Thunder Life I noticed it even without trying when playing the demo. I played the demo immediately after it was released so I didn't even know the gore and physics was downgraded. But it was obvious after shooting the first zombie.
@Thunder Life It doesn't necessarily make the game bad, but it adds so much dynamism to the scenes, plus it was already there in RE2 so seeing it taken away makes it worse.
The RE3 remake was outsourced and rushed to be bundled with a crappy multiplayer game nobody ever asked for. It's a shame Capcom ended its good RE streak so quickly. RE3 deserved so much better. I have little hope for a decent Code Veronica remake or RE8 now.
@@fire-typhoon123 apparently the trigger for that event is by turning on the lights in the press room and not have him too close to your location when you leave the heart/clover room near it. he will then teleport to the press room and break the wall once you walk near it. its actually good for you to trigger it as it opens a big shortcut if you want to backtrack for anything you missed.
RE3 remake was not meant to live up everything in the original, I am enjoying the play through but wish they added more playable areas to increase the playing time. Take RE4, it was a single campaign but expansive. As far as Nemesis' scripted moments, he is the main and only boss in the game, him chasing the player every single time would become repetitive and annoying and destroy his value as the game's lone boss. RE2 had William Birkin as the main boss, which is why T-103 was used more in a sub role to stalk the character continuously.
I just did my first less than 2 hours run (on assisted). And I have realized I love the action in the game. Every nemesis fight was great, but that was basically all of it when you are speeding through.. not really much puzzles or general fighting, other than when playing as Carlos. Now for a nightmare playthrough :)
TF you mean this wasnt to suppose to live up to the original? Remakes are supposed to take the original and expand upon them in the best way possible, and with new twists. If the devs went into this thinking "we know it wont live up to the original" then this should've never been made.
I'm copying and pasting my reply from somebody else's comment. I'll even add further explanations. You can shoot them on the knees and they’ll fall down and start crawling just like in Resident Evil 2. I believe the lack of dismemberment with the knife is for gameplay purposes. It would probably be too easy if you can cut limbs off with a unbreakable knife you get from the beginning of the game. For Resident Evil 2, knives can break and you have to earn the unbreakable knife. With the knife, you can’t kill a licker to death so easily in Resident Evil 3 like you can in Resident Evil 2. Since there are way more zombies in Resident Evil 3, they would have to make them ‘less expensive’ and static. If there are physics for all of those zombies, it may cause frame rate drops. Not all computers can handle that many character models in a single area without it dropping frames. When I played on Xbox One, I do notice some frame rate drops that occur during gameplay for Resident Evil 2. If we rewind back to 2008 where Valve made Left 4 Dead, they made this explanation about the zombie's eyes pretty clear in developer commentary: "We wanted to express this rage in their faces as well, so we found efficient ways for each member of the horde to make intense facial expressions. We chose to make their eyes a solid milky white, partially because it looks creepy and disturbing, but also because it's much less expensive than drawing and controlling separate eyeballs for each Infected." Plus since there are a lot of zombies in Left 4 Dead, we see dead zombies vanish rather quickly in order to accommodate for respawning zombies. If you design maps for games such as Far Cry 5, you'll notice that destructible objects or those that animate are far more expensive than those that are simply static, basic and is indestructible.
Overall this game is good 9/10 they missed a few map areas from the original but eh. But so far it's definitely worth it. 😂 Just wish they would show Hunk again lol
I appreciate people like you and those who replied who actually value the game for what it is... some wanna be hard core fans or stubborn assholes think that only cause of one or two features, the game is completely flawed. Im let down by the gaming community but I’ve been here for over 18 years. Really doesn’t surprise me that pissy bitchy brats still exist... just hurts me to keep thinking people like them exist.
The game is fine. The RE community is doing what it does best... complain and hold up a prior game to godlike standards. Sure it lacks in some aspects but so did RE2 but everyone forgave that game. I'm more interested in a new numbered title instead of all these remakes.. what's next? RE0 remake?.
I love the new RE3 remake but it certainly falls short of RE2 remakes greatness. One thing I have to hand to RE3 remake is I currently see alot of replay-ability. Unlocking all the shop and completing all the challenges and difficulties is fun.
In RE3R, I noticed that a lot of the streets were interconnected with each other but the blocked off by debris, cars, boxes and other stuff. In some points of the game, passages would be unblocked, or become blocked due to scripting. This is very undermining to the player and exploration potential of raccoon city. If the streets for more opened up, having Nemesis patrol around would've been brilliant. Just like Mr.X patrolled the RPD. Even though Nemesis is a good enemy to fight against, he's too scripted and it ruined. Coupled with the fact that the 1st form Nemesis is quickly gotten rid of.
Despite all the negative review about this game, me personally think that RE3 remake is a great game. The original RE3 original i remembered when I was a kid, I played it in PS1, at a point i got so frustrated with this nemesis that I quit playing, I haven't really finish the game as it keep chasing the me without me really enjoying the game as well as those frustrated puzzle, not to mention the static camera really drives me insane. I enjoy playing first and third person camera such as resident evil Survivor, RE4&5 and etc as I can manually aim the zombie which part to shoot. Of course, different people have different taste. I am more on action type like Call of Duty, Battlefield. Which probably why I think this is a great game along with RE2 Remake.
and the quick time prompt is to reduce the time the zombie is on you..they deal more damage if you don't press it and it also gives time for other zombies to move up on you.
Plankton Yeah, it did. But RE games have always been limited as to how far you can go, you have always been isolated to a ranged area of where you could go. The OP makes it seem like RE was a free roam.
ArcherDrake287 It’s smaller than the others sure, but I don’t think it really matters much. These games aren’t supposed to have huge maps and loads of freedom.
No, it is finished. There's not a single cutscene that looks "Hey this shoudn't look like this" or "Hey, this cutscene is missing sometihng". The game is in development for the same time as RE2R, it started a year after and relead a year after. It's just way too soon to release another remake using the same engine, so close to RE2R. Of course people would get angry. RE3 OG wasn't as good as RE2OG after all. Its just the same thing happening again. I myself love this game. It's fucking amazing and I'm glad I got it. And I'm a hardcore fan of the original. People just, expect too much and think too much of their IDEAL game, and forget that a game is made by real people, who get paid and work a lot sometimes even overtime to finish it. And I'm reading people saying the game should cost 20$? For the same time of development as RE2R? I don't think so.
Yekkusu Sekai Seiken thats exactly my thoughts. Though it is true there was cut content the game itself never felt rushed or unfinished bc everything looks good and runs good. (besides the low fps zombies from a distance)
@Joel IKR! Capcom should call this combined game of RE2 and RE3 "Resident Evil Raccoon City Outbreak File Remake" and like Resident Evil 6 they make us choose on which path such as "The G Virus Birkin Path" (Leon/Claire Walkthrough) and "The Pursuing Nemesis Tyrant Path" (Jill/Carlos Walkthrough). So much potential ALL IN ONE PACKAGE!
@Joel plus the Ghost survivors also include Marvin and Mikhail playtru, Hank/Ada playtru, Remake Outbreak File #1-2, and Tofu. Jeez capcom.... should've consulted your whole fanbase and this would make the best game of the year beating Sekiro by a long shot already smh.
The only part about RE3 was when I was running from nemesis and I went into the gun shop and I could see nemesis just standing there at the window waiting for me.
Aside from the changes RE3 Remake did, I kinda enjoyed it, Though it did feel like a DLC story.... much like how the Original felt like a Short side story to RE2
Nick930 You can shoot them on the knees and they’ll fall down and start crawling just like in Resident Evil 2. I believe the lack of dismemberment with the knife is for gameplay purposes. It would probably be too easy if you can cut limbs off with a unbreakable knife you get from the beginning of the game. For Resident Evil 2, knives can break and you have to earn the unbreakable knife. You also can’t kill a licker to death so easily in Resident Evil 3 like you can in Resident Evil 2. Since there are way more zombies in Resident Evil 3, they would have to make them ‘less expensive’ and static. If there are still physics for all of those zombies, it may cause frame rate drops. Not all computers can handle that many character models in a single area without it dropping frames.
xKrayZee did you watch the video? He went over the argument that there are way more zombies in re3 and it’s false. The biggest gathering is around 4 or 5 aside from one section in the hospital
@@deusvult7903 Read my other comment in this video I posted yesterday; I had to explain further. Also, you have to keep in mind that Nemesis causes massive collateral damage around the environment. You do not see the same amount of destruction in Resident Evil 2 caused by Mr. X or William Birkin. Static objects and structures that are indestructible doesn't have the same budget in the game engine when compared to the level of destruction in Resident Evil 3. On Xbox One, I noticed that Resident Evil 2's frames per second has been dropping. And you also have to keep in mind that there are more enemy types with their own set of unique animations.
The quicktime escape mode in RE3 was added so you actually have a chance of escaping death from a zombie, but you will take damage no matter what. I guess they changed it to make it more challenging as there are less zombies and it's a much shorter game, but yeah, it did confuse me at first too.
I disagree that nemesis is a downgrade from mr x because the reason that mr x could be always around the police station was because he is slow and quite easy to knock down while nemesis is much faster and more dangerous meaning which means that if he was walking around randomly, it would be hell, whereas they used him for surprise moments that you are able to survive.
Agreed, im almost certain they tested this and made him scripted because he's so game breakingly OP, esp. around hordes. Tentacle into zombie grab over and over again would make this game hell not to mention his speed.... wish they added it for the YT playthroughs though lmao
Yes i agree, Nemesis is better be Scripted, because if Nemesis is cut loose and free like Mr X, Nemesis will outrun us in any environment. It's better if we're can make a Nightmare difficulty where'as Nemesis will be cut loose and Wandering around on almost an entire map like Mr X, if we chose Nightmare difficulty, then it will be give a Nightmare difficulty a new "Meaning" to be played.
Dang I liked the ragdoll approach. It seems like they reverted back the almost goofy death animations that zombies had in re 5-6 and a few other games. As for the gore reduction thats kinda sad but at the same time the zombies are still creepy as hell with the sounds and models so less gore makes them a tad bit less creepy but gore was nice
RE 2 Classic is my favorite of the classics ( 1 to 3 ) RE 2 Remake is my favorite of the Remakes ( 1 to 3 ) RE 2 Remake is my favorite RE game, just ahead of the Classic RE 2. It is a coincidence, RE2 was better than RE3 back them, and endup being better again. Anyway, both games are great, all versions are an amazing and all deserves to be played.
It would be nice to have an update to fix the small downgrades on the PC version, coz I think the downgrades were put in for the benefit of the console versions. Like the 30fps Cinematics in Mortal Kombat 11, they patched in a 60fps option for those with PC systems that could handle it
I feel like that dodge is also one of many reason why this game feel cheaper than RE2Remake. That dodge was too easy to be pulled off, unlike the original RE3. That kind of manoeuvre is only suitable in a high paced action game such as gears of war or RE6. Putting it on a slow horror survival is unbalanced.
It only felt slightly easier than the original to me. With a bit of practice, I was able to kill Nemesis with nothing but a knife and lots of dodges 20 years ago.
@@naraku2099 umm... I don't think so. In term of survivability, the original and remake dodge system is entirely on different level, Remake is not easier by slight, it is HUGELY easier. The fact you got a dedicated button for dodge already proves a significant survival edge over the original. Jill still pulls an evasive maneuver regardless of precise timing, in the original, if you miss the timing input slightly off earlier, Jill is not moving at all. Not to mention the original "tank" control movement. Free control movement in Remake already provides safer maneuver. People trying to kill Nemesis with knife are considered a pro, you don't really have a problem with survivability anymore at this point
Jill is a highly trained and special forces. Her ability to dodge is pretty much by default. If you want a female character who can't dodge, try Claire.
@@jabe55 Leon and Claire unability to dodge or fist fight in RE2 Remake is not because of their canonically inexperienced battle prowess, but a gameplay mechanic decision. Do you really think Leon can't even fight back one regular zombie without knife at all? Surely even rookie police can do a short side step dash.
Something that always had me wondering is how Claire and Leon just drove into the city when it was said the city was quarantined in 3 and outbreak which take place before 2
I think the zombie issues are probably a trade off for the increased amount of lighting of the city with neons etc. RE2 was very dark with the only lights really being fire and basic fixtures. RE3 the city is designed to feel more alive. They should have waited to do RE3 with the next iteration of the RE engine.
Looking back just reminds me how much fun I had with both of them. Thing about RE3 is you have to play it again with the buffs and you have to play Nightmare mode. It remixes things just enough to be interesting. Sadly most people blew through it once and labeled it inferior to RE2. Both are great games IMO.
Hey guys - hope everyone is staying safe! I for one and going to sit back and replay this game about 4 more times!
Some quick corrections -
-Limbs can technically be severed still, but ONLY while the zombies are still walking around.
Still doesn't change the fact that it's more noticable now in RE3 and there's still no option to bypass this with more powerful hardware
-the palehead I showed was also used in an RE2 DLC, but there are new standard zombie models (maybe one or two - hard to tell)
-One of the titles overlaps at some point in this video (5:57)... was afraid I'd miss one, the footage all looks identical so it's hard to catch
Nick930? Can you make a direct comparison 2 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 remastered vs. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
I think the pixelated hair/"gridlike" artifacts can be at least somewhat alleviated by bumping up the resolution, but I could be wrong.

Nemesis wasnt even scary in the final game, he was just frustrating. not to mention that 90% of the game his appearances are cutscenes or bossfights

@Althane Frostbane Amen
It's all those little tricks up his sleeve that put him a cut above X's comparatively simple patrol logic-lassoing Jill the moment she tries to run through a door, smashing her head against a brick wall, stunning her with a deep roar…
What he needed was some sort of alert mechanic, like a noise meter.
I for one appreciate the well thought out comparison. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Mmmmm, the alert mechanic you talk about sounds so cool, that now I feel do disappointed it is not in the game.

Meaning, the sequence would be:
RE 3 first half (before Jill was infected), then RE 2, then the second half of RE 3 (Jill has woken up at the hospital).
The clock tower in Re2 was the scariest for me. I didn't know if he could hear what was happening or if he could enter the room so I freaked out whenever I heard his footsteps get closer.
haha yes or after the bomb ;D
its funny because the clock tower is considered a safe room and no enemy can go there.

Yeah, I hate when my video games feel like video games.
He edited his comment. He originally said a video game felt "gamey."

I'm not a game designer in anyway but, couldn't they just reuse the gore coding from RE2?
The gore of RE2 required bodies to not despawn. In RE3, because there are many more zombies, having zombie bodies despawn would be necessary so the game runs well.
A little late, but the RE engine wasn't really optimized to have so many things on screen at once. Which is why zombies in the background move at like 15 FPS and why they no longer lose limbs and why they even explode and disintegrate later on
Having a massive enviorment full of zombies and deead bodies simply put a lot of strain on the engine and due to how rushed the game was, they clearly didn't have time to come up with a good workaround

There were way more zombies in resident evil 2 remake so I dont understand why they could use it in 2 and not 3
Maybe it wasn't implemented.

Resident evil 3 is a good game on its own. Don’t expect it to be exactly like the original, or re2 remake.
@Guile Solomon I played both 2 religiously and 3 a lot since release. In my opinion 2 is a better game overall. But 3 is not a bad game by any means, just not as good.
Gabriel da Silveira Kath exactly
DMC 5 was made w/ RE Engine and it has none of the issues showcased here... The shadows and reflections look close to pristine in DMC5 IMHO.
Theres a few features that turn off outside of cutscenes.
I think it's mainly because DMC 5 was made by a whole other team who had way more time to develop, and RE3 was definitely rushed on certain aspects, not just the campaign but also technically.
@@bigbaddymike3101 Agreed, but my point is that the issue doesn't seem to be inherent to the engine as Nick had mentioned as a possibility.

They missed a lot of opportunities with re3 remake
Finally a RE3 remake criticism comment I agree with. I love both RE3 OG & Remake, but they’re both too short. I beat the original the first in 5hrs, the remake in 6 hrs. Nemesis is also scripted in both too. He doesn’t appear that often when in non-boss fights in both

Agreed, knowing the lack of multiple scenario like RE2, I was hoping for a longer campaign for RE3, at least as long as RE4
Well Original had 2 bosses Nemesis and Gravedigger+Nikolai
I just did my first less than 2 hours run (on assisted). And I have realized I love the action in the game. Every nemesis fight was great, but that was basically all of it when you are speeding through.. not really much puzzles or general fighting, other than when playing as Carlos. Now for a nightmare playthrough :)
@@serenseitcean2051 og had only 2 bosses (multiple stage) and now they even took out one *facepalm*
If we rewind back to 2008 where Valve made Left 4 Dead, they made this explanation about the zombie's eyes pretty clear in developer commentary:
"We wanted to express this rage in their faces as well, so we found efficient ways for each member of the horde to make intense facial expressions. We chose to make their eyes a solid milky white, partially because it looks creepy and disturbing, but also because it's much less expensive than drawing and controlling separate eyeballs for each Infected."
Plus since there are a lot of zombies in Left 4 Dead, we see dead zombies vanish rather quickly in order to accommodate for respawning zombies.
If you design maps for games such as Far Cry 5, you'll notice that destructible objects or those that animate are far more expensive than those that are simply static, basic and is indestructible.
THANK YOU ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Overall this game is good 9/10 they missed a few map areas from the original but eh. But so far it's definitely worth it. 😂 Just wish they would show Hunk again lol

I honestly really love both of these games. RE3 just needed to be longer, and I would have loved for Nemesis to be more dynamic like Mr. X was.
RE3 seriously just feels like DLC for RE2 (an actual fully feel of a game).

RE2 > RE3
I feel like that dodge is also one of many reason why this game feel cheaper than RE2Remake.
That dodge was too easy to be pulled off, unlike the original RE3. That kind of manoeuvre is only suitable in a high paced action game such as gears of war or RE6. Putting it on a slow horror survival is unbalanced.
agreed
You produce great videos, very professional in quality, thank you👍👍

Kermit The Frog?
Devin Isaacson He’s talking about the voice
Something that always had me wondering is how Claire and Leon just drove into the city when it was said the city was quarantined in 3 and outbreak which take place before 2
I think the zombie issues are probably a trade off for the increased amount of lighting of the city with neons etc. RE2 was very dark with the only lights really being fire and basic fixtures. RE3 the city is designed to feel more alive. They should have waited to do RE3 with the next iteration of the RE engine.
I find Mr X scarier in the remakes because he’s always lurking while you have specific instances with Nemesis and know when the encounter is over.
I don't understand how Nemesis can open door like this while he's destroying everything :) 04:08
Well clearly he stopped to open the door
Hes a gentleman
He a good man even though he gonna kill yoi
well, i mean, just because someone can have rough sex doesnt mean he has to do it right?
Looking back just reminds me how much fun I had with both of them. Thing about RE3 is you have to play it again with the buffs and you have to play Nightmare mode. It remixes things just enough to be interesting. Sadly most people blew through it once and labeled it inferior to RE2. Both are great games IMO.
