Janis is exactly right on the money, you can bench press 500-800 lbs but if you have weak center line or internal rotation you won't be able to get your opponent into a press position and all the bench press number are useless on the table. Talgat Aktaev is pure example of extreme fast and strong internal rotation that he could get almost anyone to his press position and just squeeze his opponent down with his body.
This looks more functional to me than straight side pressure. This seems like a key strength for a good presser, because if they cannot get keep their arm in front of their shoulder they are in trouble.
Your body/arm at 2:03 is in the same position Devon lifts at he just uses wrist rotation and body not so much arm swing. This is where I think Jerry was lacking against Michael his arm was getting separated from his body. Although he could have been doing it on purpose it looked like to me being strong in this specific vector would have helped.
@@Alex-1750 One of my favorite pullers for sure. His matches are always super fun to watch. How do you think Frode would do against Paul Linn, Storm Chellino or RVJ?
@Timmy Turner Frode is always a tough nut to crack but I think he’d have a super hard time Vs most of the guys you listed (Rh right?) Honestly he might could make one win imo :)
Travis Bagent definitely did/does heavy cable flyes for chest, exercises that bring the arm across the body are likely more useful, dumbbell pressing is going to be good for general strength of the chest with full range of motion
If I don't do table training (only specific/general strength on weights), can I do this once/twice a week or will this destroy my elbow? Note that I do JM press also.
probably he is but he's just so strong at his press that he can just press on his opponents side like coming right at them tho ofc its ideal to press your opponent on your side taking their arm further from their body isolating their bicep...
@@denizyasar7431 I do both flop and regular press and I find when you're hook pressing someone internal rotation is vital. If you can't get them 'inside' then you can't press. However with a flop press you can't really do any internal rotation because you're not holding on so it's more of a direct side movement. Jerry is strong in both so i'm guessing he is super strong in these exercises!
Hey Ray! As a 15 year old (turning 16 this october) I have been training for this sport for 2 years Is it fine for me to train fully as a youngster? Or is it bad for my body? Thank you
Coupling this with supination and low cup(with for example larrats multispinner instead of that thin handle you used)and pulling from higher pulley is pretty good for getting inside i assume?like simulating coming forward and crushing down at the start of the match to get inside?
This could be edited to 5 minutes and not lose any of its real substance. C'mon, this is TH-cam. Too much lard in this, repetition, beating around the bush.
I like ask the champ, series.
Thank You!
This "ask the champ" thing is a big deal for us.
Thanks to Ray and Janis.
From a fan from India.😊
Thanks, more to come.

Janis is awesome! what a charming champ. and coach is a friendly one too. love this show.
I am huge fan of the ask the champ series! Thank you, Voice of Armwrestling! Your channel is the best!
Atkaev and Shamiyev are the armwrestlers i'm actually trying to replicate. I found the perfect exercise :)
Good stuff!
I've been training a lot more inside lately. My first year was more outside training. Your training vids and recommendations are awesome!
Thank You and good luck Nick
My life goal is to be happy as janis amolins is
We approve it! :)
Accept Jesus 🙏 Eternal happiness!
I believe only Frode Haugland is happier (or at least the same) lol

Voice of Armwrestling, guys, please make a video about the best ways to train your chest for armwrestling
Travis Bagent definitely did/does heavy cable flyes for chest, exercises that bring the arm across the body are likely more useful, dumbbell pressing is going to be good for general strength of the chest with full range of motion
Another amazing video to save to my training videos to watch why’ll I train thank you for sharing
11:47 makes sense inside armwrestlers have like twice the side pressure of outside armwrestlers
I know Ray is strong, so it's crazy looking at Janis, the lighter guy make it look so easy.
Great video, always quality information
Anyone have a source for Aktayev's near-100kg lift?

5:12 Ryan Bowen' s new mantra

As long as you do some systematic general training, to have great overall development.

International rotation in Todd Hutching's language is backpressure XD
:D
Awesome stuff
Thank You
I wish I could get a machine like that to train more effectively my side pressure. How did you got it?
Would you consider this an accessory lift or main lift for inside puller?
Whats the name of the exercise? Rotational inside hook?
Inside rotation on table
Good talk
Thank You
Talgat Aktaev 100kg? Exaggeration from teammates or legit? 'Cause that's some insane numbers. :o
if talgat could do 100kg of internal rotation,
then im levan saginashvili
Fun fact: Evgeny Prudnik can bench press 185 kg
195 I think
