I lived in London for four years and believe me it’s just as bad if not worse in some areas. Try Lytham or go rural lovely places to visit such as Garstang and Lake District.

Or the Peak District which is close to where I'm living now....a really nice part of England.

Don’t mind Blackpool at all. Accept it for what it is (ie it isn’t the 1950’s anymore for a start) Myself, the missus and our two kids can get a coach down and back from Scotland, 4 nights in a hotel, breakfast and dinner included for about £500 in total. Cheap and cheerful, plenty for kids to do during day like the pleasure beach, the zoo, the water park..

I came to Blackpool from Bournemouth to escape rising rents, and for a song " up the Pool" by this great British band born in Blackpool.

Not the only place in Britain, you will find hooded electric bikers. Usually working for Just Eat or Deliveroo.

Similar when I was travelling though Oz - we got off at Bunderberg and went for a drink and within 5 mins some locals threatened us with knives...we just hopped back on the bus, left and never went back- awfull place

The beggars in Dublin are so forceful they'll frog march you to the Cashpoint machines 🏧 if you don't stand your ground

I couldn't agree more. There are some places in Australia that just aren't worth visiting. Loads of crime everywhere these days.

Blackpool is a crap hole. That said you have to accept it is what it is and embrace it! I live just outside Birmingham and would move in a heartbeat if I could. They have been promised regeneration and exciting projects for years and because nothing came of them the property developers speculating have left buildings to rot. Hotels for the most part don't give a crap and have given up, especially the larger one's. There's plenty of small independent places that are great and as for the charming people you met - they're everywhere now.

Yeah, I hear you. I can't see anything changing rapidly, even with a new government.

Pay more to live south of Manchester and still have the same shit in same old places. OK granted blackpool could do with a real upgrade but so could many places throughout the UK. As our previous pm said the government was piling millions of pounds into deprived urban areas of the country and he was the one to stop that (that's problem solving for you). It's not a north/south divide there's poverty throughout the country.
