Feeling lazy? Put that shaker away, measure your ingredients and stir. A simple, classic gin cocktail that has stood the test of time. Use an Old Tom gin if you have one available otherwise a London Dry style is a good substitute.
INGREDIENTS
- 45mL Gin
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15mL Sugar Syrup (1:1)
- 60mL Soda Water
Note: The Tom Collins is typically made with an Old Tom gin which is a sweeter style gin. See ‘What is the difference between a John & Tom Collins?’
HOW TO
1. Add all the ingredients to your cocktail shaker
2. Shake & strain over fresh ice into a collins glass
3. Garnish with a lemon wheel

Steve the bartender is the best bartender on TH-cam for many reasons but the fact he doesn’t make me watch a 15 minute video for a cocktail is awesome. Thanks man
Lol, thank you and you’re welcome! 🙌
Exactly! I see some guys make a 15 minute video on how to make a Black Russian 🙄😂🤡
@@qazzaq8763 what i see few guys making a 15 minute video how to add water to drink😒😒
Just had one its 3am here in the uk so refreshing after a long shift
Drinking it as we speak. Thanks for the recipe Steve! Cheers from Poland!

Making one of these as we speak a nice straight cocktail very refreshing
Steve, I have become an even better host thanks to your videos. Really enjoy watching and learning your style. Cheers!
Thanks Mister! Good to hear you’re enjoying the vids and finding them useful! 😍
Thanks, Steve. That was informative and delicious looking!
Heres my 2 ingredient Tom Collins;
- Gin
- Sprite (or 7Up, Sierra Mist or whatever Lemon Lime like soda, I don't drink regular sodas anymore, so Zevias version is also delicious)
I usually pour a double shot & if I want to taste it, I'll only pour half a can of soda. Otherwise, the whole can.
Anyone else just do it like me?
In the Summer, I will get fancy & add frozen fruit. Makes for a very refreshing drink 😋
Very nice and refreshing drink for the coming summer season :)
Most definitely! I'm such a big fan of a collins!
I think when I first started drinking as an adult drinker for flavor the Tom Collins and the Sidecar were my favorites.
Me too! Love citrusy cocktails and the Sidecar is up there! 😌
Thanks for this! One of my favourite cocktails
Such easy drinking!
Never had one, always forget to order, must remember!
Been playing with my Tom Collins and like this one. 2oz of gin, 1oz grand marnier, 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice, 1/4oz simple syrup, 2oz of tonic water. I like it.
But that’s not a Tom Collins.
Great video! Thanks!👍
I make the perfect Tom Collins...got my mixin' technique down n' everything.
I usually make it the laizy way, I buy a Sanpellegrino Limonata, and mix it with ice and gin, instead of three I make it with two ingredients like a gin and tonic.
Great tip its actualy a nice soda
I will try this
Apart from the classic ingredients I add 1,5 cl of elderflower syrup to my version :)
Good call, next time try it with lychee liqueur - only 15mL or so as it's pretty sweet..
Tom Collins in the shade. SF/
Just made a 1.1 sugar syrup bout two cups worth50percent sugar 50 percen filtered water
Curious, best sugar syrup please, or all much of a muchness? Love lemon drinks and Gin, thanks for the idea 👌
Homemade! We swear by 1.5 Caster Sugar to 1 Water. Otherwise Monin Cane Syrup is excellent if you want it premade!
feel free to make this one some day. I haven't made it yet but thought it up watching other Collins' videos. cheers.
RASPBERRY RUM COLLINS
2 oz Light Rum
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 to 3/4 oz simple syrup
- muddle 2-3 fresh raspberries in simple syrup and lime juice
- build in Collins glass or strain over ice
- top with club soda/soda water; about 2 oz
- garnish with skewered raspberry and lime wedge
Thanks for sharing! Should that be lemon juice? I tried a raspberry rum Collins a long time back that had the tiniest touch of butterscotch - it worked surprisingly well although it was quite sweet..
yea lemon juice since its a Collins drink. but thought lime juice would go well with the rum. but yea I guess my version minus mint leaves is basically a mojito.
Just to say all bar scientists of the world. It's a challenge. Make this drink tasty. Call this the Big Liberty
So you said 60ml of gin in the video, but it says 45ml of gin in the video description?
Why not use the same ice??
Thank you but can you write the recipe plz
It’s in the description.. 👌
I always judge the quality of any bar by their ability (or lack thereof) to make a Tom Collins.
Do I pass the Tom Collins test? 😆
Steve the Bartender, absolutely, that looks amazing. It's an easy drink but I'm always surprised by how many people screw it up.

I’m super picky.
My brother figured out a recipe that I’ll actually drink-flat water instead of club soda, and double the sweetener.
fresh.. ice.....
Fun fact: Old Tom style was created in response to the horrible quality of gin in the 'gin craze' during the late 1700s!
I thought you just build it. Very nice though ;)
Can build it - I have always built them in the past but quite like it shaken now....
I am dribbling.
Dude talks like Gordon Ramsey.
I couldn't understand his accent.
I'm an educated American but I cant understand much of what the hell he is saying .. I did hear Tanqueray!
